  1. A-Team... Always love your posts! .... And you beat me to it!
  2. I've seen people make those survival bracelets (also mentioned in the forums and videos on YouTube). People use them as swag but it always seemed more of a special swag to me.
  3. Arguably the most dangerous part of LPCs. Lameness exposure can be extremely hazardous to your health. Always take appropriate precautions when geocaching near lame caches. I'd argue 2nd dangerous.... Before lifting the skirt, it doesn't hurt to take it a few times and listen for bug life! I've found this mostly with the older posts though.
  4. You can make this request on TB-Rescue (sorry, you will have to Google it). A local cacher will go out and retrieve it. Good luck!
  5. Most definitely! Makes it fun for the next cachers I typically contribute but normally don't take (even if there is swag).
  6. What was it doing at a garage sale!?! Never thought of that happening! Congrats, though! Great to hear! There are some wonderful stories here: More Good News
  7. Hi! Congrats on your first find! Did you, by any chance, take a picture of the container? I can't envision what you're trying to open.
  8. We have a cacher here who does the Presidential series and a second who does these great "historical" story caches (very loosely based on fact) who do REALLY creative caches. When either pubs a new one, there is an immediate stampede to their sites. I was also in Maine recently and was SUPER impressed with the caches along the greenway near Saco.
  9. Now that's pretty cool! I like that!
  10. I believe that the agenda "rule" applies to caches submitted for publishing, not to logs by finders. Thank you, but I wasn't quoting rule... I was quoting etiquette to keep the game fun. Was at a recent event where several other cachers mentioned they saw some of this in the attached logs.
  11. Depending on what it is..... Is it a local landmark or something? Or maybe displaying some beautiful in nature? Just avoid anything that might be political or religious... Avoid platforms, soapboxes, etc.... You may want to mention that the URL is not a spoiler.
  12. Got it first try.... Convert the numbers to letters.... Write them out if you have to.... And remember that there is more than one way to look at something.... Sometimes you just have to work backwards to find the answer you seek
  13. You do start looking at things quite differently - LOL I also find myself on my way to work passing previously found caches and trying to see if I can spy them.
  14. Sorry, can't help you there. I use my iPhone app and my Magellan Explorist GC. My family seems partial to the Oregon 450 (?). If you get hooked, do upgrade to a Premium membership so you can upload caches 500 at a time (via pocket queries) versus one at a time.
  15. Received my coin - beautiful condition! Thank you!
  16. Did you get the activation code from the site you bought it at?
  17. P.s. it's ok to go back and trade something in that first cache as long as you trade equal or better
  18. Congratulations on the first find! It's a great feeling and very addicting! First, let me assure you that, when you are ready for it, the full version app is much, much better. Second, get a few more under your belt and try that guard rail one again - they get easier with experience. Third, a Munzee is a different game (here in Michigan, many cachers do both & post Munzees near caches). They both involve hunting, but Munzees involve using the scanner on your smartphone versus signing a log. Finally, to log your find (I normally log mine on the full app but you can do it here): 1. Go to geocaching.com and click the Play drop-down menu 2. Locate the cache by searching the GC code or searching by address/postal code, etc 3. When you locate the cache, click the Log Your Visit button on the right 4. Select Found it and enter your comments (a wise cacher advised me to treat the Comments as a mini journal so you can go back and enjoy your logs later) 5. Save You also have the ability to upload pics to your log too. Hope this helped!
  19. Isn't there a category for "Last of its kind"?
  20. Exman, saw your article today. Very interesting. http://www.roadtripsforfamilies.com/2012/05/geocaching-interview-trackables-gone-missing/ Thought the free replacement tags were pretty cool.
  21. You're welcome! I have it saved and use it as a reference when I get stuck
  22. Hi! You might want to search nearby and see if there are any travel bug hotels. Grab a few bugs and help move them along. Most of my TBs gained there greatest mileage after being placed in a hotel. I know if I was a cacher in your area, I would appreciate it
  23. This is a post I like sharing with newer cachers. It really opened my eyes when I started working puzzle caches. http://coord.info/GC25WQJ Consider it Puzzle Caching Fundamentals 101
  24. Have you considered a Wherigo instead? My sister and I just participated in one that drove you around historical places in Detroit. We loved it!
  25. Kudos to you, Crazy, for being considerate about the TBs and not letting them languish!
