  1. Daron, I still need to get that waypoint file to you so you can check and see that it records time for the pictures on Topographs. Its just kind of a pain with my iFinder since I have to removed the batteries and then the SD card in order to load anything.
  2. I like a challenge when I go to look for a cache so I can see where the nano would be appealing. The drive-by caches can be nice every once in a while, but not all the time.
  3. Those are awesome! I have a couple of auctions up on eBay right now so as soon as they end and I have some more money in my PayPal account I'll be sure to get about 10 of them things!!!!! Do you suggest the magnets on the inside or just on the outside. I have an awesome idea for a cache and this would work awesome for that purpose!
  4. Please do! I know he is wanting to get rid of it, but was also talking about putting it on eBay the last time I talked to him. If you send him an email, be sure to let him know that Matt posted this on the Geocaching forum and that is where you saw it. He knows I posted it here. If I will let you know if he put it on eBay.
  5. You need to be sure to use a program like GSAK that will put the files in the GPX format. GSAK is a free program, but has some of the annoying load screens until you register it. After using GSAK for a while you will see that it is worth the money and pay to get the screens removed. I just take the PQ from my email and save it to a folder. Open up GSAK and then load that PQ into GSAK. After it is updated I then hit another button that sends the GPX file to a folder that is synced to my PPC. That zips the file right to the PPC and then I open the file there. Quick, easy and painless!
  6. I bought my copy of Mapsource Roads & Rec off of eBay. It came sealed and everything was fine. I think it was a previous version, but I was able to get on the Garmin web site and update it easily. I'd have no problems doing it again, but would be careful of the seller like Chuy said.
  7. Isn't anyone interested in the unit? Jon said he hasn't gotten any contacts yet. I know the unit is in awesome shape and was only used while he was on a road trip. He just doesn't need all the functions this unit provides.
  8. Check out www.topographs.com It uses Google Earth to display the track and it will accept pictures that will display on your track where you took them. It uses the time on your camera and the time on the track to place the picture in the right place. Take a look and see. Might be exactly what you're looking for.
  9. I can tell you this, I have the Lowrance iFinder Hunt and the only time it has taken a while for me to pick up sats is when I have traveled a ways after shutting off the unit and then trying to restart it. I have had absolutely no problems picking up sats while in my truck sitting in my garage. I was also surprised to see that I got an easy position fix while in the bathroom with no windows (its best not to ask questions!).
  10. I have a friend who bought a Garmin GPSMap 76 CX for his first unit. He used it for 12 hours in the truck on a road trip and decided that it has too many features for him so now he would like to sell it. He's asking $415 for the unit shipped. You can email him at webmaster@hunterscentral.com
  11. I have been looking into getting an 8125. I wasn't aware that the 2125 and the 8125 were running different OS. That really leans me more toward the 8125. I'm itching to get it now!!!!!
  12. markp99 - that is one thing that attracts me about the Smartphone idea and Geocaching software. No need to carry 3, 4 or 5 devices out into the field with you. I'm contemplating switching phones again to a Cingular 8125, but I really don't want to do so until I'm sure I can run some Geocaching specific software on it. I have a Jornada and it only runs CE so I have used the HTML viewer on it before. It works, but after using some of the other programs I know that there is better out there.
  13. When I was running WM 5.0 I was on a Cingular 2125. The problem is when you try to load the programs onto the unit. It says that the file isn't compatible or something like that. Could it also be a difference between having the programs already on the unit when you upgrade the OS and trying to load the program when the OS is already WM 5.0?
  14. I take it that is running WM 5.0. I had a Cingular 2125 that had the WM 5.0. I couldn't get any Geocaching programs to work on it. That was before Cachemate came out for Windows. I don't know if Cachemate will run on it or not. I can't imagine that WM 5.0 is the hot new OS and none of the Geocaching software companies have stepped up to make sure their software will run on WM 5.0.
  15. Motorola never made a Slvr that wasn't the L7. The Slvr includes the iTunes player (mentioned that in my first post). The L6 is a silver phone, it is the tri-band and does not have iTunes. The Slvr L7 is only made in black right now, it is the quad band and it does have the iTunes player on it. By saying it is a Slvr is saying it is the L7. The L6 was only called the Motorola L6. The phone is not unlocked. You say you have been watching them. If you have been watching them then you would have picked up the basic info that the Slvr and the L7 are the same unit. The L6 is a complete different phone (different color/different features) and the Slvr is only an L7. Just schoolin you some info for when you purchase the phone from someone else. Its a good deal you have no interest in my stuff. That saves me a bunch of headache cause I'd probably have to hear a bunch of whining from you after I sold you the thing anyway.
  16. $225 for the Slvr L7 with a Motorola headset is dirt freakin cheap! It might be "used" as you call it, but it is still in perfect shape with all packaging and paperwork. Go ahead and buy a "new" one off of eBay. You'll be looking at $180 to $190 plus $30 to $40 for shipping. Then buy the headset for $40 plus $12 shipping. Yeah...I'd rather pay the $262 (low end)!
  17. This is going on eBay later today unless I hear something from someone........
  18. I'm going to sell my Motorola Slvr. I have had the phone for about a month and a half, but don't really use the iTunes like I thought I would so I'd like to sell this one and upgrade to a different phone. This phone is in great shape and has nothing wrong with it. Everything is in perfect working order. It has the iTunes player on the phone. The phone comes with headphones and an adapter to use your own headphones if you want. It has a cable to connect it to the computer to download songs onto the phone. I will also include 2 leather carrying cases for the phone; one black and one brown. If you are also interested, I will throw in a Motorola bluetooth headset for an additional $25. These phones retail new for $299. By purchasing this phone you won't need to renew your contract either. I'm asking $200 for the phone plus shipping and insurance. The headset with the phone will be $225 plus shipping and insurance.
  19. Someone must have something to trade! Anyone?????
  20. I replaced my digital camera yesterday so I'd like to trade my old camera for a Palm or PPC. The camera is a Kodak DX3500. It is a 2.2 mp camera, but does not have an optical zoom. It takes great pictures. In the best mode, the picture runs about 1 mb. I know it will make someone a great camera as it did for me, but I needed a camera with optical zoom. I'll also include a 128 mb CompactFlash card which will hold 196 pictures in best mode. The camera is in great shape and still works awesome so I'm not wanting to trade this for one of the $20 Palm units. If you happen to have a Palm or PPC that you no longer use and want to trade it for a great working camera, let me know. The best way to contact me is to email me at matt@hunterscentral.com
  21. I had an iPAQ 6515 for about a week before I took it back because I wasn't real big on the size for a phone. I did try out the GPS antenna on it and you have to have some kind of software in order to see your position. I tried both Streets and Trip 2006 and BeeLine. They both have their place for seperate situations. For Geocaching, BeeLine was awesome. I didn't have the full version, only the trial, but from what I saw if I were going to keep the unit I would have purchased the software. I'd say go with BeeLine!
  22. The LEI Extras store is one of the places I looked and I think it was going to be like $47 shipped. I found it at another online store for a little cheaper, but of course I have a $10 coupon for eBay and money in my PayPal account that I would like to use to pay for it if I could. Maybe I could just use the eBay coupon on a USB/serial adapter!
  23. I'm needing a cable to connect my GPS to my laptop. I've looked on eBay and no luck. I've only found like 2 places to buy them and they run around $45 shipped to my door. Does anyone know someone who makes them or a cheaper place to get them? The other problem is that the ones you can buy off the 2 sites are serial cables and I'd rather have a USB cable for sure! Can someone help????
