  1. Don't give up it takes practice. Even some of the best geocachers that have 10,000 plus logged finds can't find some easy ones that a first time geocacher has found.
  2. Gadget caches are different from the typical cache. They are easy to find but hard to get the log out. Beacuse of this difference I feel like they should have their own cache type.
  3. Sorry, I still use Vista and my gps is an etrex 20. I forgot about taking the gpx files out of the zip folders.
  4. I would be willing to adopt any caches within York and Lancaster County in Pennsylvania.
  5. If you have a PC then I can help. First download a pocket query. Then plug in your Garmin GPS into your computer. It may have to download drivers for the first time its plugged in your computer. Then click on the start button and click on computer. If you are using windows 8 update to 10 before doing this. After opening up computer you will see a Garmin logo click on that and then open folder called gpx. Open your download folder and copy the files from the download folder to the GPX folder on the GPS after that close all the windows related to that and safely eject your GPS. Thats it!
  6. I have been experiencing the same issue I also live in the USA and this is very annoying. I have had to go back and edit some of the logs so I had the right date. I am using a Windows Vista PC and I have been using Chrome. Also my CMOS battery is fine. I think its more of a issue on the website side then the user side.
  7. If it was a cache that most of the cache is different then I would make a new listing and call it something like the sequel or the II. If most of it has stayed the same I would leave it.
  8. The Mid-Atlantic States really don't have a big event like New England does and the Mid-west. We are kind of in the middle it would be unique to have something in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware. Some of these states have held Geowoodstock but that's not every year. I think this area has the potential to hold a big event and be a success.
  9. I had this happen also. Do a factory restore under settings. This will delete all the files on the GPSr so make sure you take anything off of it that you might want to keep. Also I would check and make sure that your GPS is updated to the newest updates.
  10. What happens if I show up not registered?
  11. I live in an area of caches that were archived long ago and were forgotten is it okay to remove them from their locations or is it not good in case if someone wants to find it even though it was archived.
  12. Ok than maybe just one or two so that way you can see what finding a cache is like and how one should be hidden.
  13. When I started caching in June 2011 I had a problem navigating the site. Also there should be a more extensive list of rules. One of the worst things I did was placing a cache and having people look for it and I hadn't placed it. There should be a rule that you have to have at least 100 finds and you must have found at least one micro, small and regular cache. And also have found at least one multi and mystery cache. That is not really that hard to do and it would keep geonoobs like me (when I started) from doing stupid stuff.
  14. Is there a certain way to keep trackables from disappearing I've had some that have disappeared. I'm wondering if there is a way to keep them from disappearing?
  15. Chrome is the top browser right now I have no problem with it when I'm using Geocaching.com.
  16. I never know if its the right time of day to place a cache and whether it is a good location for a cache.
  17. For the Gps you need either a mac or pc computer laptop or desktop. The misfeature is in place because the PQ's run through Groundspeaks servers and if you were to make a pq of 5000 then the website and other pqs would be really slow. Yes unless you have a geocahing app on your phone with a built in gps. Here is a tip when I know that I'm gong somewhere I download pqs for that area. For instance I went to Huntsville, Alabama and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee this summer. I generated two PQs for one for each city. I did this even before I left home. I was happy I did this because I didn't have Internet in Huntsville.
  18. Here is a link to where you can find organizations in NY state. The closest one I found was in Syracuse. Thanks for your service. I hope this helps.-mcpat12 http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=160200
  19. I can answer to two of your questions. The first one is Split the types of caches up. Prague has alot of mystery caches so make one pq of that. eliminate any events these you can add later if you want to via the basic way. Then do your traditional and multi you might be able to add virtual in there too. Your Garmin do you have a USB cord that came with the Gps if you did use that a transfer the queries that way. Hope this helps - Mcpat12 PQ LIMITATIONS ARE NOT A BUG! YOU CAN ONLY DOWNLOAD 1000 CACHES AT A TIME!
  20. I have a trackable that needs to go to new york I know someone that lives in new york and is a geocacher. Is it okay to mail the trackable?
  21. I'm planning on putting out a Christmas themed Geocache this holiday. I need help on what to put in it.
  22. My neighbor and I are geocachers and his brother has a light show during the holidays at his house. We would like to place a cache in my lawn so people could see the show and find a geocache. The cache would only be active for about 10 weeks at most and then it would have to be archived. It would also only be out during show hours. Is this legal for geocaching rules or not?
