  1. Yeah, I had someone re-use a TB tag from a TB that I had found. He gave it a new mission and deleted all the old logs. I 'lost credit' for moving that TB, which I very well remember requiring a bit of extra legwork to keep it's goal
  2. No one has answered this yet, so I will... It is the juice from the stems that take away the sting. Crush the stems and rub the juice on. For large affected areas, you'd need a *lot* of jewelweed, but it does work. The juice is also excellent on mosquito bites - it takes away the itch almost instantly
  3. I just had to restart my computer and I was good to go... I love this feature!
  4. It looks like Shifty was in Niagara Falls, Ontario (Canada), where the OP is going to Niagara Falls, NY (US)... And as another local, I can vouch for the fact that there are a ton of caches in the Falls area... I recommend that Geospyder take Urkel up on his offer - you couldn't ask for anyone better in the area to help you
  5. Night caches are my most favorite type of cache to hunt! In my area, they are very well done and I have a blast every time I go looking for one. The funny thing is, I had to be almost coerced into looking for my first one - I just couldn't imagine it would be very much fun looking for a cache in the dark. Boy was I ever wrong I can't get enough of them now! I'm pretty lucky that there are more than a few around here. I don't want to think about after I've found them all...
  6. I had a Pathtag passed to me, and besides the size being much smaller than a regular geocoin, they *are* really nice. As a trade item, I think that they are great. They will definitely be showing up more and more in caches...
  7. Walking on a bike path to a cache, I struck up a conversation with a jogger. I tried to explain Geocaching, but as soon as I mentioned the internet, the jogger started making faces. Evidently everything that is on the internet is the Evil Spawn of Satan and it all tries to lure us into dangerous and unforgiveable things I don't think I made a convert there
  8. Sending myself a test email was one of the first things I did. It came through fine. 'No' on the Yahoo email... I just think it's weird that someone else watching the cache isn't getting the emails either. Just got your test email!
  9. I had a new cache published today, and even tho' I've had few people find the cache, I have yet to receive an email notification/copy of the new logs. I've been getting them from other caches that I've listed and am watching, but not the new cache. A friend of mine is also watching my new cache, and he hasn't received any emails when people found the cache either. If there is some feature that I turned on or off that sends out the emails, I can't find it... Thoughts from anyone?
  10. You can find archived listings if you know the waypoint - it will come up in a search. The only other way I know of finding an archived listing is if you know who placed it. It will show up in their caches under their profile.
  11. ... and this was posted afterwards: Sent: Thursday, October 12, 2006 2:34 PM 3116.08N 11758.26W videbo tu in caelum - frater ave atque vale Can anyone translate?
  12. Did you select a "day" to run? Did they turn BOLD and have a date/time run to the right? That was the ticket! I thought that by just submitting the PQ, it would run... I never did anything with the other screen. I got it now - Thank you soooooo much!
  13. I tried running my first PQ today, and I haven't had any luck I do not have AOL or Yahoo. I checked with my ISP, and they don't have GC.com blacklisted at all. I tried sending a PQ to another email address, and still nothing ~sigh~
  14. I just saw this one on another thread - it had me rolling on the ground!!! The Bloated Festering Head of My First Victim (GCJ7VH) Edit: How the heck do you make a link???? Argh. Edit Again: Got it!
  15. Cpt.Blackbeard wrote: Point your wand at him and say "petrificus totallus"... Oh, wait, that's the wrong story Hey - that's my line! Edit - I can't figure out the whole quote thing.... ~shrug~
  16. I've been watching this thread since it started, and I have to say that I amazed at how fast things are being fixed as they are being brought up... If there was a Thumbs Up icon, I would put five of them here I really do like the new changes, and everything is working for me now (Netscape 7.1 - thanks for giving me my tabs back!) . The only things that bug me (and they are really very minor) are: - In the Log Your Visit choices, I wish the Archiving choice said 'Needs to be Archived' or 'Needs Archiving'. 'Needs Archived' just doesn't sound right. - I don't care for the quotes under the profile picture being 'boxed in'. I think it looked a lot nicer when the quote kind of free-floated under the picture. And I wish I could center the words! - I know it's been mentioned before, but I can't wait for the cool-pop-up-version of the decrypt feature on the hints to on the Print Friendly pages... Again - thanks for the the new changes!
  17. Thank you everyone for your input... I would love to go the way of Robespierre, but unfortunately this is a smaller business. Although it's on a busy street, it is surrounded by vacant land. People just wandering up through their parking lot and then wandering away would *definitely* be noticed! I was planning to add in what Tossedsalad mentioned about not a whole lot of traffic after the first week or so, and Chuy's idea about giving them the option to change their minds later if they want, and do what Kentuckygirls does and actually bring my GPS with me - so at least I was on the right track with those thoughts. I'm not so sure about starting with a phone call tho' - I'd be afraid that they would hang up on me! I absolutely love Sept1c Tank's idea about printing out that brochure and maybe a few logs... something concrete would prove that it's not just me that's nuts! And I think that Doc DiTTo is right - the worse they can say is 'no'... but I would soooo love for my first cache to go smoothly and be loved by everyone Thanks again everyone - at least now I can put a solid plan into action!
  18. I'm sure this has been covered before, but the Search function still isn't working... I am in the planning stages of placing my first cache. If I have my way, it will be a two-legged multi, with the first part - the part that I want people to see - being on private property. The property is a business, if that makes any difference. Also, the recommended parking will *not* be at the business (if that makes any difference, either). My question is: How do I approach the owner about allowing me to place a micro with the next set of coordinates on his property without looking like a nut? To date, I have yet to meet anyone who has every heard of Geocaching before, and whenever I try to explain it to anyone, I get looks like I'm a few fries short of a Happy Meal (except for a friend in another state that I converted ). I would really like to place this cache, and I'm open to any advice that will increase my chances Thanks in advance!
  19. The Adirondack Murder Mystery sounds like a mini EcoChallenge... I'll bet it's a lot of fun!
  20. From what I can see, the Rainbow Hydrothermal Vents cache (GCG822) *is* a real cache. There is a note from the owner: "Amended 5/06/05: For the record, this geocache is real, and can be found. Most years Deep Ocean Expeditions (www.deepoceanexpeditions.com) takes people down to these vents, and you can go too! It is done as a cooperation between eco-tourism and extremophile research. Scientific study of high temperature bacteria and anaerobic life forms are subsidised by taking tourists to the vents. I have visited them twice myself. With 10-30 people visiting a year, I presume one will be a geocacher like me... sooner or later!" And for the FTF, there is a TB waiting I wish I was rich!
  21. There's one that is over 1.4 miles underwater at the bottom of the ocean near a hydrothermal vent... GCG822. I guess the owner used a Russian Mir submersible to put it there. It's been there for over three years - no one's found it yet I'd love to have the opportunity to try for that one!
