  1. I followed your instructions and did exactly as you said. But it still says plug in not detected. I checked my computer files and it says Garmin Express 6.6.0.0. I don't get it. I use a Garmin eTrex. And I can't use pocket queries because you have to pay for special software to be downloaded to your computer. Any other suggestions?
  2. What irks me most are micros, esp. ones hidden in the woods and puzzle caches. If I wanted to do a puzzle, I'd go get a puzzle book. And yes, I know, I don't have to find all the caches, but this area is saturated with micros and puzzles and it takes away from people hiding regular caches. Call me old fashion, but I enjoy caches that take me to nice, beautiful areas or historical areas that I would otherwise not know about or go to. I would much rather walk 1/2 hr. on a beautiful trail and find one cache then spend a 1/2 hr. finding dozens of micros in parking lots. And then we have micros in the woods. Why do people hide micros in woods, when there are tons of perfect hiding spots to hide a regular? Not to mention, I think there is a contest in my area to see who can hide the most devious micro. It's not any fun when you search and search for a cache and can't find it because someone decided to hide a bison tube in a wooded area that has dozens of possibilities of where it might be. Frustrating. I have not been out geocaching as much lately for this reason. I can't travel far right now, so I look for caches close to home. It has not been easy trying to find any that aren't micros or puzzle caches. Nor to mention, there are only so many bison tubes you can find, hidden in the woods before they get boring. You've seen one, you've seen them all. If I do hide a micro, I try and put some creativity into it. Not just hang a film canister or bison tube from fishing line from a tree branch. To make matters worse, usually there is some bounce when in the woods. So now you have a GPS that can't settle down, in addition to trying to find a container that is smaller then my pinkie finger! OK, I'll get off my soap box now.
  3. Knowschad-Good point! That would have been the best outcome. DragonsWest-I didn't even think of that. Let's hope so. StarBrand-Of course it's cameo! The mad bomber made a cameo appearance, and very brief at that, and then left! Coldgears-I never said it was in Allentown. I said it was in the Allentown paper. And it's Bethlehem, not Bethleham. Jellis-That's really scary to think people are really planting bombs out there. All the posts I read about police blowing up caches; I thought they were overreacting. I guess not. USMCGecko-that's possible. All though The Morning Call has never been noted for being the most accurate with their stories. From personal experience, if they intervied you and you don't answer their questions the way they want you to, they'll print anything, just to sensualize (sp?) the story. Hi Cerberus-Ah ha! So, you admit to being near the scene of the crime?!! I didn't know that about cigarettes as I'm not a smoker. Not very smart on the bomber's part. Thanks everyone for your comments. I just wanted to post this to just remind everyone to use caution when out there caching and be safe. Happy geocaching!
  4. Sorry, I forgot to add the link. http://www.mcall.com/news/breaking/mc-forks-township-pipe-bomb-scare-20120319,0,7944819.story
  5. Taken from "The Morning Call" Allentown, PA on March 20, 2012. Except for the fuse, it sounds like some of the cameo jobs I've found on caches. I think this is the first time I've actually read where it's been a bomb and not a geocache.
  6. Yeah, I'd be interested in knowing how you make out also. I have not been able to download any pics since the end of October. A very sore spot with me! Even when I re-size my pics, I'm still unable to download them. And Groundspeak is no help.
  7. GC177CA Historical Buildings in the area, including the George Taylor house, one of the signatures on the Declaration of Independence.
  8. Yup! That's what I got also! I've tried so many times to upload pics with no luck. Even after I downsized them. Yes, VERY frustrating!
  9. Add my name to the list of frustrated geocachers trying to upload pics! Customer service was no help. She never even told me that they changed the format and that's what the problem was. I thought it was my computer until I read the foums. She told me to resize my pics and I use Piscasa, but when I click on browse and go to Piscasa, it uploads every pic I have in the file!! It won't give me the option of which pic to upload. Very, very frustrating as I love taking lots of pics.!!
  10. Or start mumbling under your breath, "I know I hid that body around her somewhere!"
  11. Thanks for the help everyone. And forStarBrand for the link. I was hoping to avoid such drastic measures, but as of this morning, still no response and pics are still there. So, I guess I'll have to delete their post. DragonsWest, that is an interesting-looking cache! Wish I lived closer to search for it. Happy geocaching, everyone!
  12. I hope this topic isn't a repeat, but, I can't find any discussion on it. Is there someway for a cache owner to remove a pic from the gallery of their cache? I have a cache, where in the cache description, I asked that spoiler pics not be posted. A geocacher went and posted a pic anyway. As they are new cachers, I emailed them and asked nicely if they would remove it. Their answer was to post the same pic with the other person that was caching with them. Normally I wouldn't mind, but the surprise factor is part of the fun with this cache. A pic ruins that. I emailed them again, but as they never responded to my first email, I doubt if I will hear from them. Any help would be appreciated.
