  1. Well.....I'm told that if I did the 2d graphic in color it would not turn out that well because of the detail. I guess I'll wait and see how things go before I decide on 2d or 3d without the color. Photo inlay would work out nice like my panther paw coin but it's kind of expensive. I'm working on getting quotes as we speek and I'll see what others come up with :)

  2. :) But I'd also be happy with a jaguar, another from the Western Hemisphere. I see Asia and Africa represented, so I think that a fourth cat coin should be from the Americas.

I like this Idea also because I think an American Big Cat deserves to be in the set.

Ok.....I dropped the "white tiger" and added the Jaguar and Mountain Lion. The graphic below shows the 4 coin set in 2d color rather than 3d cat graphic with no color as I shown previously. I think I like the idea of having the cats in color. I also added the signature pawprint on the rear of the coin. I submitted these graphics to a few places for price quotes and to make any needed changes if needed to make it better.

I'm figuring on offering 2 sets of metals:

1st set would be Silver, Nickel, Copper, Gold

2nd set would be Antique Silver, Antique Nickel, Antique Copper, Antique Gold.

Should I also have a limited Edition set that has all 4 cat coins in the same metal? Maybe 2-tone?

What do you think of the changes so far?

  3. A Puma (aka cougar aka panther aka etc.) while technically not a Big Cat is still a big cat, so don't feel limited by my definition! A cougar coin would be neat.

You are correct that the White Tiger is a mutated version of the Bengal Tiger.

Ok....I'm down to these 3 for sure

African Lion - This one must stay. This covers Africa

Bengal Tiger- This one must stay because I like them :) This covers Asia/India

Puma/Mountain Lion/Cougar/Panther - We call them Mountain Lions here in Eastern USA but they are found mostly In western USA and are known as Puma.

Not sure yet what name I should use on the coin?

The fourth would be one of these:

Leopard - Found mostly in africa, southwestern asia & china

Jaguar - Found mostly in South America and very small areas of North America

Cheetah - Found mostly in Africa

In Utah we usually call them mountain lions.... ;)

I guess my vote would be Mountain Lion also since that's What we call them here.

  5. My 2 cents...

You have to have a lion (king of the beasts and all)

One striped cat (white or Bengal tiger)

One spotted cat (leopard, jaguar or cheetah)

One solid color cat (mountain lion or "panther")

Using one cat from each category would make each significantly (noticably) different...since they each have different markings.

well I guess I'll sit at the computer and do a few more graphics and post them. Then we can pick which ones look best together

I like all of your ideas

  6. If you add a fourth coin to the series, I'd definitely go for a puma/mountain lion. These are iconic American "Big Cats", and deserve a place on the Feline Hall of Fame  But I'd also be happy with a jaguar, another from the Western Hemisphere. I see Asia and Africa represented, so I think that a fourth cat coin should be from the Americas.

  7. There are really only four true Big Cats, all of the genus Panthera. They are:

    Tiger

    Lion

    Jaguar

    Leopard

These are the roaring cats. No other cats can roar, only purr. (A Serval is a Lynx, and medium sized at best, but it does have big ears. However, if you ever pet one, don't expect it to purr too much.)

"Black Panther" is a nickname for a leopard, jaguar, or puma that happens to be black, and "Panther" itself is just a nickname for those three kinds of cats. The nickname obviously comes from the genus name, except the Puma, which is not a member of Panthera at all.

so do you think I should get rid of the "white tiger" and add the Jaguar and Leopard?

I believe the white tiger is just a white version of the Bengal which I plan on keeping.

Or should I keep it as a 3 coin set and then add another coin or two somewhere down the road.

I was originally planning on doing these coins one at a time but I figured most would like to have the whole set at once instead of taking a chance at missing one of the coins later.

I'm open to opinions and the 3 coins shown are not set in stone yet.

  8. Should I add a 4th Big cat coin to the set? If so.......what would you like to see added?

    Mountain Lion

    Black Panther

    Jaguar

    Lynx

    Bobcat

    ????????????????????????

First thought was the "Black Panther", since I love them, but then I remembered that is what is coming at ya on your personal coin.

So.... I tried to think of something that would be outside of the norm that people think of when you say "Big Cat"

    How about a Serval?

Those big ears are so cute! :anibad:

    D-man :D

Lol....honestly I never heard of them before so I clicked on the link. Kinda funny looking and they are listed on the big cat rescue page.

Although it was not a big cat, it was either a very brave or stupid cat. :anibad:

We would like two sets, at the very least. Bud is ready to give chase.... :D:D Glen

Should I add a 4th Big cat coin to the set? If so.......what would you like to see added?

    Mountain Lion

    Black Panther

    Jaguar

    Lynx

    Bobcat

    ????????????????????????

  10. Avast ye maties!

Ok so I have my 3rd Annual Pirates of Harriman Event coming up in late October and want to do both a coin and a treasure map coin for people who attend. :(

Here is the preliminary design for the coin, anyone got any comments? It is similar to last year's but will be trackable and has different artwork on the back and front. I was thinking of doing it in 3 metals, antique gold and antique silver and bronze (which is pictured below).

 Too bad there isn't a pirate smilie face! :o

Cool coin........I would be in for a couple.

Will there be a custom icon?

  11. Will the coins ship today or Maybe tommorow

We waited this long why not a few more days.

I know they will arrive someday soon and everyone will be Happy

    SlabyFam

Good news.......I received the coins today and I managed to get them all shipped back out on the same day.

The coins are really really nice and I'm very happy with how the coins turned out.

However there was an error in the minting process. The coin mint did not put the sequential numbers on the coin. I figured most of you would not want to wait another 6 weeks to have the coin corrected for the sake of the numbering. I contacted rusty about this error and he sent me a copy of the die art that clearly shows the coins with the numbers. He is going to get in touch with the mint to see if there is anything that can be done. Check back here in a couple days and I'll let everyone know whats going on.

    .

  12. :anitongue: If you are starting a list add me to it for one set. <_<

Everyone requesting coins will be contacted when pre-sale begins. The coins are going thru a few changes since the graphics were posted. It looks like I'll be doing 2 metal sets instead of 2-tone metal to keep cost down. Right now I'm planning on a set of Gold, Copper, Silver & a set of Antique Gold, Antique Copper, antique Nickel. But that could change again before I decide.

  13. Hi everyone, I had been going to a website where you saw new coins being offered at times. You had to be online and catch it during that time to buy the coin. Does anyone know what the link to that website might be or where everyone can see new geocoins besides the geocoin club ones? Thanks so much

    Are you thinking of Cointracking.com?

  14. I received my notifications from Paypal that this is shipping to me, I am so excited.

I'm just printing packing slips so I can have the envelopes ready when the coins arrive.

I'm expecting them on monday (fingers crossed). I want to fill the envelopes with cat tracks

and send them back out on the same day. Confirmed trades will be shipped along with buyers coins on the same day.

  15. Update:

Tracking number shows Rusty will receive the coins in today's mail and he said he will ship them out to me today via priority mail. I should have them in my hands in a few days :D

I'm planning on shipping everyones coins out to them on the same day I receive them.

HOORAY! Have fun at the post office. :D

Just confirmed Rusty did receive the coins yesterday and he sent them out to me yesterday via priority mail......I should have then in a few days.

He also said the coins turned out really nice with the photo inlay :D I can't wait to see them!

  16. Update:

Tracking number shows Rusty will receive the coins in today's mail and he said he will ship them out to me today via priority mail. I should have them in my hands in a few days

I'm planning on shipping everyones coins out to them on the same day I receive them.

  17. Yep, this is my longest outstanding order... paid 7/17!!! You should have waited to collect the money. That's too long.

Again.......I'm sorry about the wait. I started the pre-sale on 7/21 and began taking orders on that day.

The coins were ordered on 7/26 just 5 days later. I posted in the pre-sale that the coins would be 4-6 weeks from the date they were ordered till I received them. Tomorrow will be 6 weeks so the coin is running a little late. This is my first coin and I did not know what to expect as far as the minting process and delivery time except from what I was being told. I can assure you that when I receive the coins they will be shipped out to the buyers the next day. There's not much more I can do.

Thanks again for everyones patience :P

  18. I just received an E-mail from Rusty at personal geocoins. The coin mint shipped the coins out today and rusty should be getting them in a few days. The coins will then be shipped to me and sent out to everyone who ordered. Thanks to everyone for being patient and you will have your coin(s) shortly :D

I was also told that future coins will be shipped to a new mint that is a little better quality and much faster getting them finished and shipped.

    Thanks again
