  1. I'd just appreciate a response from Quiggle regarding why he banned me for 2 weeks from posting. I don't think that's too much to ask.
  2. Once you take something and hide it in the woods, it is no longer "your property," it is then considered abandoned property. It's really up for grabs. Of course, as geocachers, most of us have respect for why the containers were placed and what they are used for, but when muggles come upon these, they may decide they have a better use for them.
  3. I Would like to know what it is about this post that deemed a 2 week suspension from the forums? Quiggle, I think you would be the proper respondent, as you were the one that imposed the penalty. You quoted the following to me in your email, from the forum guidelines page: Please read the forum guidelines at http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?act=boardrules which state: "Some things to keep in mind when posting: Foul Language and obscene images will not be tolerated. This site is family friendly, and all posts and posters must respect the integrity of the site." I'm giving you 14 days off which will be enough time to read the guidelines and find a way to adhere to them. THere was no foul language nor obscene images in my posting. You never even felt it necessary to edit the original post. This seems to just be a personal vendetta by you against me. I'd like an explanation as to why? And I don't mind that explanation being held in an open forum. You moderaters seem to let a lot more go from people who are long time, more regular posterst than myself, despite that the guidelines also state that should not be the case. They say: "Whether a community member has one post or 5,000 posts, they deserve the same respect." So, let's talk about it. If you think this deserves a thread of it's own, then by all means, please start a new one and post this as the first post in it. I just asked my questions here due to the fact that this is where the post that got me 2 weeks suspended originated. MIS, I have no preexisting opinion of you or Quiggle, and I am hard to offend with off-color or scatological humor, but the suspension doesn't seem excessive. The posting was crude and mean. Probably meant to be an edgy joke, but it didn't work. The followup sock-puppet post was obviously cruder and meaner. Followup sock-puppet post? I'm really not sure about what post that is you are talking about. I have no sock-puppet account. Those are also against the guidelines. But of course, that is a guideline that is ALSO not consistently enforced.

  5. Yes, that would be a crying shame!!! Where does your cruise end? Seward by chance? Looks like you may already be on the way. We have LOTS of great caches and cachers up here. Be sure to also check out www.geocachealaska.org.
  6. My welcome screen says, HELLO, WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO GEOCACHING TODAY??? MAYBE WE'LL EVEN GET A FTF!!!
  7. If you're going to do this though, you should give someone a 50 cent credit for every FTF!!!
  8. I've got a 60csx, and I like how when you find a cache, it instantly tells you where the next closest unfound cache is.
  9. Why doesn't one of our trusty Mods move this to the GPS forum where it belongs?
  10. Here's a new idea for a "cache camera." There is a cache in Alaska, called Snag This II, in which the cache owner has an office overlooking the cache location. He attempts to snap photos of people finding the cache, and them posts them online. He will always remove your picture if you request as well. Some of the photos are rather humorous.
  11. Those that whine about not being able to get FTFs just aren't willing to do what it takes to get the FTFs. Put forth the effort, and your time will come.
  12. This is a BRILLIANT idea. I may have to find this sometime.
  13. I've got so many kids, I'm sure that one of em falls in that age group. Let me know when we're going.
  14. If I found a cache with a camera in it, I'd probably take a dump nearby, and take a picture of that.
  15. This could not be further from the truth. If you ain't first, you're LAST!!
  16. Somehow, I doubt that the people who put out these memorials had permission to put them there in the first place. If it's on public property (with presumed permission to place the memorial) why would the geocacher need permission? The family of the deceased does not own the land. I see a lot with things nailed into telephone poles. That's against NJ State law. (An issue of safety for utility workers.) Then there's the one on the railroad bridge that I cross every day. That's not where the police officer died. He was under the bridge, directing a fire truck to put out a fire, when he was hit by the NJ Transit train. Why put the memorial so far away? Quite simple, IMHO, these things are litter. Oh man, and I thought my post would come off sounding a little heartless, but calling a loved one's memorial litter? I like it!!!
  17. The difference is, this is on the side of the road, or nearby usually, and most likely on private property. We recently drove by one of these roadside memorials, and one of my kids thought they had buried the driver right there. We explained it to him.
  18. Hmmmm........ let's see. They were involved in a competition <edited by moderator>, then they quit. Nope. Sure can't figure out why.. As soon as I posted that, I knew some idiot would come through and blame me for "running them out of the game." I'm pretty sure that ain't what happened, as they seemed to disappear during a period where I was actually out of town for most of a 2 month period. They still log in almost daily, but haven't logged any finds lately.
  19. If you've been caching/promoting caching as long as you claim, then your claim of having as much info as mine does is not correct. And I've had a few good FTF races myself. There used to be one cacher in particular that made early morning races quite fun. Don't know what's happened to them.
  20. One of the coolest "tree caches" i've seen was attached to a fishing reel that was attached lower. To lower the cache, you had to release the bail. Once you sign the log, you reeled the cache back up for the next person.
  21. Guilty?? Hardly. I'm one of the hounds. And I'll never intentionally wait for someone else to find if I have a shot at it.
