  1. Still here. You blinked. I actually closed it at the same time Quiggle closed the other one. I opened it again. Man In Stripes, I've already addressed your question. Go back and read my Toronto/NHL league post. Considering your avatar, I think you would probably appreciate it. If you'd point me to said post, I'd be happy to read it. I only read the first couple pages of this thread, then skipped to around page 13 or 14. Wasn't gonna read it all. But I would be interested in reading your post you refer me to if you'd give me a link, or even the post number.
  2. Calling out a volunteer reviewer in the forums. That should be effective.
  3. You're comparing clams and oysters. We're not talking criminal prosecutions and oppressive governments, it's a flippin' geocache. If someone is willing to expend so much effort over something so inconsequential, it tells me that there is probably an agenda in there. Since she was asked to change the page prior to publication, and she complied, she may just be fed up. If there is any agenda at this point I would suspect it has more to do with trying to get a fair shake than with whatever the heck the cache page was supposed to be promoting. She got a fair shake. She was told her cache did not conform to the guidelines. Change the page and move on. It's a geocache, not the Magna Carta. Actually, she was told her cache did not conform. She made the necessary change. It was published. SIX MONTHS later, someone decided it all of the sudden didn't conform? What changed?
  4. Is there a "3 strikes and you're out" guideline for perceived duplicate threads? As in, since the last 3 posts seem to think this is a dupe, this thread should be closed?
  5. There are already a number of caches that reference scouting in them. And guess those will all get archived as people complain about them...since they're promoting an agenda. I think the point many have tried to make, and I'll echo it, is that people shouldn't have to report each and every cache that promotes a perceived agenda. There should be a standard and it should be applied uniformly. And quite frankly, I'd be interested to see, if I were to report a list of caches that have perceived agendas on the cache pages, would TPTB really go through and archive them all? Somehow I doubt it. It's almost worth a try though.
  6. There are already a number of caches that reference scouting in them.
  7. I was gonna say something about this post, but then realized it wasn't a very nice thing to say, so I will refrain since I'm on a pretty short leash these days.
  8. Until you asked the question, how the heck would anyone know you didn't place them one at a time and list them as they were approved? Jerkiness has nothing to do with it. You can list your caches in any order or sequence that you chose. The only issue may be that someone else who found your cache places one in the same park and gets that listed before you list your own cache and thus blocks your cache due to the proximity rule. The way he described it, I don't think this should be a problem. Sounds to me like all the caches have been placed, and the pages created. He's just asking the reviewer to hold off publishing them all at once. I would think that the reviewer will know where all the cachers are prior to publishing the first one, and if someone else submits a cache, the reviewer could simply respond by saying that there is already a cache placed in this area, even though it hasn't been published yet. Of course, this may tip off another cacher that there is a new cache about to be placed, thhus giving them a bit of a heads up that a new one will be published first. Another option may be for the reviewer to simply not respond to the second person to place a cache in the area, if it's too close to one of the other caches placed, and then when the one that is too close to the second submission gets published, simply email the person that was econd to submit a cache in the area and tell them they were beaten to the punch as far as timing of the placement.
  9. Why not jus throw on here "if you have to pay for gas to get there." WHat the OP is trying to do is put a few caches in a nearby park, properly spaced, but have them published one at a time, in effect, creating a new FTF race each time one is published, rather than make them all available, in close proximity to each other. I think it's brilliant, and as a FTF hound, I'd love to race everyone else daily for a few days running. It's winter here in Alaska, and the new cache placements slow down this time of year.
  10. Will it still work if you tape the prepaid envelope to a brick? It's always worth a try. I knew that I had recently received an email outlining the whole process, so I looked for it, and here it is: (3) Junk Mail Help: When you get 'ads' enclosed with your phone or utility bill, return these 'ads' with your payment. Let the sending companies throw their own junk mail away. When you get those 'pre-approved' letters in the mail foreverything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope. Most of these come with postage-paid return envelopes, right? It costs them more than the regular 37 cents postage 'IF' and when they receive them back. It costs them nothing if you throw them away! The postage was around 50 cents before the last increase and it is according to the weight. In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-paid return envelopes. One of Andy Rooney's (60 minutes) ideas. Send an ad for your local chimney cleaner to American Express. Send a pizza coupon to Citibank. If you didn't get anything else that day, then just send them their blank application back! If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn't on anything you send them. You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! It still costs them 37 cents. The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their own junk back in the mail, but folks, we need to OVERWHELM them. Let's let them know what it's like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they're paying for it...Twice! Let's help keep our postal service busy since they are saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, and that's why they need to increase postage costs again You get the idea ! If enough people follow these tips, it will work ---- I have been doing this for years, and I get very little junk mail anymore. Now, it is worth noting that this must be somewhat OLD, as it still says 37 cents, but I think you all get the drift. Let's slam em with their own crap!!!!
  11. Let me tell you how to support the USPS. Everyone here gets plenty of credit card offers in the mail. Enclosed in those offers are PREPAID ENVELOPES. Using said envelops, mail the offers from Company A BACK to Company B, after you tear out any identifying information of course. Heck, even send them back their own envelops EMPTY. The bottom line is, the company you send the PREPAID envelops back to still has to pay the postage for the crap you send them. And it helps slow down the time between postage rate increases.
  12. Excellent. Please tell me where you live, and if you have any of the following in your yard: Bird feeders. Shepherd's hooks. Those cool solar-powered LED walkway lamps. Dog food bowl sets. Because I could certainly use any of those items. No. No. No. No. And No.
  13. That is truly pathetic. ROFLMAO! Talk about insecurity. WOW. I know enough people in low places that I would have that person's address within a few hours of getting a threat like that. Restraining orders are easy to come by, & you have no idea how they can eff up your life in certain areas....... Our local cache monsters just think they enjoy anonymity. That's soooo totally NOT the case. On a related side note: Serious threats can be treated seriously. Ummm, what do you think happened to piratecaching.com & s-t-o-pgeocaching.com? I'm pretty sure I know and the person who started the latter movement is probably STILL hiding under a rock. Do tell. Never heard of these sites, and it doesn't look like they exist anymore.
  14. If that was an attempt to post said link, you posted the wrong link. That link is to some bookmark link. On a side note, I like Jeremy's post where he states: I couldn't give two hoots if someone wants to log an event cache twice. It's their find count and there is no competition here. So if you find a cache at an event, knock yourself out. I think the power that IS has spoken. The power has also said this: Wanting to throw up a bunch of temporary caches so you can log them as a "find" is the height of selfishness, IMO. You are well aware that the "cache" is just a part of the event, like a three legged race. But nowhere does he say that it is not allowed. Like it or not, some people have found a way to increase their find counts within the guidelines. So why not let them play in peace? This is true. People are free to act in the 'height of selfishnessness.' That doesn't mean that others have to condone the selfishness. That is really what this boils down too. No one definitively stated that this is ths height of selfishness. Jeremy just stated that in his opinion, it was.
  15. And I'll drive my car down the freeway throwing 35mm film canisters out the window every 0.1 miles... BRILLIANT!!! BRILLIANT!!! Just make sure you have good coords for where they land.
  16. If that was an attempt to post said link, you posted the wrong link. That link is to some bookmark link. Here is the correct link WOW. That post is too good not to post here in it's entirety. So here it is: And I would also like to add an AMEN BROTHA!!!! to what God, I mean Jeremy said.

  18. I am the proud new owner of a Motorola Q. Is the messenger of which you speak interchangable? If so, please advise.
  19. I would perfer they had resources enough to do both.........crime is crime no matter the scale. And how much additional taxes are you and all your neighbors willing to pay to make this happen?

  21. Kit-- Let me begin by saying that I don't intend this to be a personal attack against you. I am simply trying to understand your line of thinking. You are a very active person on these forums, and often advocate for changes as you believe they should be, and that is why I take this example from your post to ask my question. I would gladly welcome an answer from anyone to this question, not just you. I can't help but wonder what it is about people such as yourself that makes you insist on defining what's right for everyone else. People participate in geocaching in different ways for different reasons. What may seem right to you may not seem right to someone else, and vice-versa. Just like the idea of what is fun and what is not fun. What some people think is a fun aspect of this game, others want no part of. The bottom line is, these forums would be much more pleasant if people could accept that just because people disagree with them doesn't make that person wron, inferior, or any less of a participant in the game then they are. I'm not advocating a hardline stance, I simply wish TPTB would make a real decision (not a fencesitter response) whether they are for or against logging event caches, by logging multiple attended logs. There has a been a zillion references to Jeremy's past posts regarding the issue. Both sides use his past posts to bolster there argument. If he would simply say officially, "temp caches are approved by TPTB," or "there will be no more logging of temp caches on my website." I would be happy with his answer. This would end this silly debate for the most part. Most of the debates on these forums have more to do with the "mixing pot" of ideologies that also love geocaching. Rather than debating "conservative versus liberal," or "religious versus athiest," we debate merits of the game. I think that Jeremy's silence on the issue speaks loud and clear. I find it hard to believe that TPTB are NOT aware of what is going on. If they felt strongly that there was a problem with it, they would step in and make the change. The fact that they have not said anything seems to indicate that they don't have a problem with it.
