  1. Where can you find SPECIFIC information about a gps units capabilities? More so than such items as ; lock times ; 3-5 meter accuracy ; compass etc. etc. I use a 1998Garmin 12; a buddy has a new etrex (blue) and it is amazing that it tells you you are within "25 feet" of a cache location! Mine messages at 1/10 of a mile that you are getting close and then drops to 0.0-- I can get it closer by using the position page and dead reconning my further movements, but why work so hard when the easy way is available? Do the manufacturers have info (specific) available online somewhere? bud
  2. Zen, Fairly new to geocaching and only a little more familiar to my 12! I have nothing to compare it to but I like my 12. PLUSSES - hooks up fast / gets good reception in mild to moderate forest coverage / can put it in your pocket to climb a hill, or warm it up, and not lose your hookup / batteries last pretty well even with a 15 sec. backlight setting. - When the cover gets heavy above, I have had success using the position page and manually(in my head) stepping in the direction of the desired waypoint to get closer to it. MINUSSES - No download capabilities / no compass / There must be something good about the standard Model 12, mine is a 1998 version, and they still make the same one!
  3. I went to a cache at a state park, cutelly named, and obviously in a place lots of people would bring there kids, found the cache, and was surprised to say the least to find an empty bottle of VIAGRA in the cache!!! With the instructions still fastened to the bottle!! At least I got to see what it looked like. budlvr40
  4. Since ducks are my favorites, if one gets to St Louis, I could wing it to Salt Lake City in June.
