It doesn't do a good job of exporting GPX files, which I use for the Palm for Plucker, Cetus GPS and NAV Companion, along with waypoints for the Garmin III+. Basically I'm deleting the program from my computer. I already get the GPX files from GC.com, but I will usually try out any new or interesting software. I agree, this program will put a much greater load on the GC.com servers. The Pocket Queries are run during the night when the system load isn't as high. I would recommend that you don't even bother with this program. I really like Watcher (see http://www.clayjar.com) for filtering out caches I've found. Of course, your PQ can do this for you too. But Watcher allows you to ignore other caches by type or distance or whatever. It's a terrific program. I'm hooked on it! ------------------------------------- Becky Davis San Jose, CA Live geocaching help 1-800-ASK-KEEN extension 0324998 - call when you're out caching and you get stuck! 2. quote:Originally posted by marwagsalot:Just a reminder, there are places that my type cannot go Marwags, thanks for reminding me about this. I did just check, and Almaden Lake Park does not allow dogs. Emma Prusch Farm does, but not near the barn or small animals (understandable... those chickens must look awfully tempting). Kelley Park does allow dogs. Lake Cunningham does not allow dogs. I am waiting to hear back about Edenvale, which is worth finding out about because it's a beautiful spot and there are already caches there, and room for more. So since I think we'd all like to include marwags and other dogs (like Bykenut's etc.) it'd be nice to use Emma Prusch Farm, Kelley Park (both really nice parks), and maybe Edenvale Garden if dogs are allowed there. What do Marky & Joani think? (since Joani was partial to Lake Almaden) ------------------------------------- Becky Davis San Jose, CA Live geocaching help 1-800-ASK-KEEN extension 0324998 - call when you're out caching and you get stuck! 15. quote:Originally posted by Marky:Just about everybody I talked to mentioned driving through rain to get to the picnic. We lucked out and had pretty nice (if not sunny) weather the whole day. It was great hanging out with everyone. People keep thanking Joani and I for helping to put the event on, but we didn't really do anything. TeamJiffy and vdbalamo did all the hard word in our opinion, and it was a great success. We're looking forward to the next one. Yes, this was a great event. I have been to three so far and this was definitely the most successful. I am so glad that the threat of rain didn't scare many people off. Joani and I chatted a lot, and we did talk about another event later in the summer. I work for the City of San Jose and we have some great big regional parks here with reservable areas. Joani likes Almaden Lake Park, but there are more. Here are details on all of the San Jose regional parks that have reservable picnic areas: -Almaden Lake - Has swimming, paddleboats, and playgrounds. Caches nearby. - Alum Rock Park - Very nice for picnics, lots of good hiking trails, caches already in the park, and lots of good hiding places for more. - Emma Prusch Farm - Smaller, but really pretty with farm activities for the kids. - Kelley Park - Very spacious, many shady spaces, and also has Happy Hollow and Japanese Gardens. - Lake Cunningham - Large, has fishing and Raging Waters nearby. - Edenvale Garden Park - On the property of the former Frontier Village. Caches already here. Lots of shade. New playgrounds. Also, I wanted to let you all know that I contacted the marketing rep for Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services in San Jose to ask what the department's policy on geocaching is. She informed me that the department is way behind on coming up with policies for anything... Which I guess is good for us at this point. But she is going to look into geocaching and let me know what the director says. ------------------------------------- Becky Davis San Jose, CA Live geocaching help 1-800-ASK-KEEN extension 0324998 - call when you're out caching and you get stuck! That is none over than DrumOrgan himself. Okay and now for the caption: "This is the Deadhead molesting a statue locationless." Okay, not funny. The first photo on this thread is probably a good likeness, but there are no known photos. Her son was a French-Canadian. She is depicted on the latest American dollar coin. I would vote for her as the 'first lady' of geocaching. I have no idea what most of your message means, but having spoken at length with Choberiba/Eric_O about his Mitsuko (there, I said it!) sock puppet, I have heard him with my own ears as he pronounced her name. He says it "mits-ih-koh" ------------------------------------- Becky Davis San Jose, CA Buy Tupperware for cache containers.
  20. Okay, the South Bay CITO event is posted. Hope we get lots of participants. I still need help figuring out a location. Thanks! ------------------------------------- Becky Davis San Jose, CA Buy Tupperware for cache containers.
  21. Cach in Trash Out Day San Jose! I've entered a cache report for a San Jose/south bay CITO day. I will let you all know when it's approved. San Jose's Anti-Litter program will be providing loaner vests, gloves, and litter sticks, as well as bags, and the Transportation Department will pick up the full bags at the end. I need some ideas for a bad litter creek or park or trail or somewhere that needs our help. Anyone? ------------------------------------- Becky Davis San Jose, CA Buy Tupperware for cache containers.
