  1. 2. How did you “gotcha” geocaching name?

    My name is Mysteriousrose

I really like roses so that's easy to explain, the mysterious part came because I started a book blog where I reviewed a lot of mystery books. The funny thing was I'm from Denmark and almost everytime I should write a review, I would need the word mysterious and I really had a difficult time spelling it right. So at one point this became my alias and now I'll never forget how to spell it;-)

    (I hoped that made sense).

  2. 1. What “gotcha” into geocaching?

My friend got me into it after a trip to The US, she could not talk about anything else. So after talking about it for some time I went with her to find my first cache.

Now 4 months later I'm the one calling her, to get her to come out geocaching with me.

I just can't stop and it's a wonderful way to get some fresh air.

    I love it!

  3. Hello all

I have looked at a lot of different coins and I would love to add all of them to my collection but as I'm sure many of you know, it's hard to afford even half of them;-) So I will have to choose.

I'm very interested in the GCC member April 2011 - Faberge Egg. (I have a necklace with a red faberge egg I got from my grandmother before she died, so I would love to get my fingers on this one. Geocaching and faberge egg two of my favourite things).

I think it's a little too expensive for me to become a member of the GCC club at the moment, so if anyone have this coin (unactivated) and would like to sell it please tell me the cost. I live in Denmark so please tell me your shipping costs too.

    Thank you so much:-)

  4. These are my favorite coins because people gave them to me or I found them in caches.

I am also a little biased on my glitter version because it was so difficult for the mint to make it. They did not want to make a second batch.

I know what you mean, it's really special if someone gives you something as a gift. I love to find coins in caches, I have not have the fortune of finding any that's not been activated. Maybe someday...

  5. Hi

    My name is Mysteriousrose

I really like roses so that's easy to explain, the mysterious part came because I started a book blog where I reviewed a lot of mystery books. I have been geocaching for about 4 months now and I really love it. I also just bought my first geocoin and I can't wait to add more to my collection.

I love geocaching because it gets me away from the computer and out into the nature and I discover so many places that I never would have seen, had it not been for geocaching.

Other than geocaching I use a lot of time on my dog Bonita. I'm also about to finish a short film from the Danish filminstitut.

It's very nice to meet you all.

  6. Wow there's a lot of beautiful coins.

drneal: Thank you for showing me. I can see that the personal coin comes from the heart that's wonderful.

I really like the imagine coin too!

Oh and thank you for mentioning the link (and thanks keewee for providing it), it diffinately looks like something I will have to check out.

keewee: I'm on my way to read your links:-)

yanagi: Thanks and I so agree with you;-) Another amazing coin, very pretty.

avroair: Love it! What is that coin called?

  7. Hello and welcome to the forums. :)

I will echo what Droo said - it is a breath of fresh air to have someone come into the forums and be polite and use manners. I thank you for that. :)

Once upon a time geocoins were only made out of metals, but in 2007 (or may have even been 2008) some people started to experiment and sought approval from Groundspeak (the company who runs geocaching.com) to make geocoins from other substances.

I think the first alternatives were made from fired clay and they were huge compared to the standard geocoin.

But since then "geocoins" have been made from clay, porcelain, glass, sheet metal, wood, denim, and all sorts of other materials.

As for a favorite... there are so many, but the original earth turtles were pretty darn cool!

    Hi Keewee

Thank you, I will give it back. I think all of you are kind and helpful in your answers and I enjoy all the pictures. This really makes me feel welcome:-)

Great to get a little story on the geocoins, I know that you can find a lot of info on the internet, but it's special to hear these things from people who collect coins and enjoy being in a forum like this.

I can't wait to get a collection of my own;-)

    Great coin!

  8. That's some amazing coins.

E&Cplus3: I didn't know that there existed coins in porcelain. I like that they're simple but very unik.

Droo: Thank you for letting me know about the links, I will check them out. It's always difficult when you join a new forum to find your way around. Help is always appreciated:-)

fuzziebear3: Thank you. I know I asked a difficult question, but the coin look very pretty. I love dolphins!

The Blorenges: I'm not a religious person either, but that is a great coin and a very good sentiment.

  9. Hi everyone
