  1. Is there a place where I can look up the members by State? I would like to see who joined in past years.
  2. I have been thinking about a picnic gathering sometime in October. I have talked with several area cachers about this and have started some initial plans. I will keep it in development and post some details.
  3. I first bought a Magellan 315 and later upgraded to the Merridian Gold. Both nits work great for geocacing. I like the SD chip and additional map storage that is available. Also, the SD card works in my digiatl camera and palm pilot. The magellans seem to kept a signal under tree cover better than other units. Just m.h.o.
  4. I hae found a few benchmarks and logged the finds. Does this info show up on 'my cache page'? or are the number of finds accumulated? Just curious
  5. Betty and I could probably make a Sunday aftrnoon gathering. Friday night would be difficult. We woudl like to make this one, we missed the last one due to work schedule. It would be nice to those from the southern part of the state.

  7. Jeremy has indicated that you may use the logo for you own use - provided that it is not used for any commercial purpose, sold, etc.
  8. Geocaching.com sticker on back window. Cache toolbox (items to place) in the back and a few cache logs on the front seat. Will upload a photo when I learn how!

  14. I think you missed the boat! Subscriptions are optional! Nothing else has changed, you have the same access to the site as before. I signed up the first day I saw the option to do so. After spending lots of $$$$ to buy a gpsr, gas, boxs, items, travel, etc., the $30 was a BARGAIN to support the site. I also have spent $$$ on t-shirts, bugs, hats, etc to help support this site. I was glad to offer up the $30 annually. If I dont like what happens during the next year, I will simply drop my subscription. last of the rants from me.
  15. I just came across this thread and it hit home! One of my bugs is mia. Apparently the item, a golf ball, has been separated from the metal tag. Originally it was it a baggie, with a card to log each finder, on a chain with easy instructions to follow. Hard to understand what happens to these things I have a bug in my possession now, found it a few weeks ago and logged it. Will place it in a frequently visited site in a few weeks. Just my thoughts. If my 'snowball' bug is actually mia, I will launch "snowball2' and see what happens. If it goes mia, this will probably be my last travel bug. Prior to the metal tags and actual travel bugs, I sent out two items with cards and instructions to email about their location. Both have never been heard from again. Go figure!
  16. I now have two gpsr units and my neighbor has two units. We both use them for very different purposes, and both use them for geocaching. he is an Air Force B52 pilot and uses his in the cockpit. He needs altimeters, etc. and bought an expensive unit. I went low dollar on my first unit and upgraded to a Merigold for mapping and sd card capability. For geocaching in general most middle range units will do a great job. My only comment on brands is this. My neighbor and I both were seeking a cache in a piney woods area. His Legend lost the sats frequently while my MeriGold kept a lock all the time.
