  1. Just noticed the new set of caches placed to the north of the event, looking good for a brilliant night.
  2. That was a good night My first cache was one of the photograpers caches by Maxwell involving taking a photo of an object/placespecified by the last cacher. I can remember Peter "The Hornet" selling ammo boxes out of his van at the late xmas meet at winchester. A long drive from Cornwall to Scotland for the 1st Scottish geocachers day out up Ben Nevis. In March 02 I had 36 unfound caches within 100 miles of midcornwall and a couple of them was on the south wales coast! Yep good days
  3. Some hope there Stuey, while it looks like good news all round it is bound to be picked apart and dissected. But I am with you on the "Lets all go geocaching".
  4. Well I think it is sad that some [description removed by Deceangi]people in america can tell us and our excellent mods what we can and cannot do in our own forums. I can honestly see me being £15 better off when my premium membership dues are payable again. edited due to complaint from a citizen from the US over the description used Deceangi
  5. Fully agree with you on this Dave, I just cannot see what has been done wrong. I take it any event cache organised on the 11th October near woodbury common musn't mention running through mud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I dont suppose the Devon team have entered the 7 mile course on Sunday because they are worried about being beaten by either the Somerset or Cornish teams on the 3 mile course by any chance
  7. Well Cornwall will definatly be entering one team and maybe even two. So watch this space
  8. Looking into the possibility of having a day out in this area to join you. Will confirm nearer the time
  9. Paul, if you go to our local cornish forums and post a note on there about a Penzance meet you may get a better response. I think there are some cachers around that area who go on our forums. I am in Newquay so its a bit too far for me to organise and my knowledge of Penzance is not good to even suggest anywhere. Link for forums is Cornish Forums
  10. A number of us cachers down here in Cornwall have had a cache series called The Cornish Quest running for the past three years involving the finding of 16 caches to complete. How ever after all this time some of the caches are now getting past their best and a couple have already been archived with the clue for the next part left as a note on the cache page. So we have now decided the time has come to archive the series. However to allow people who have already started the series a chance to complete it, archiving will be delayed untill the 31st of December this year.
  11. I can remember a log of mine causing much interest back in late 2005 when the humble White Jeep travel bug was much sought after. The cache is Devils Den by Gowenhouse. To enjoy it to the full, read up from where the cache was approved
  12. Good day had today but very crowded, Nice to meet up with Rutson, Helen in Mustardland and M1EYO.
  13. I am up there Saturday with a ticket costing £12 paid in advance. Going up by train from Exeter to avoid the car parking fees
  14. I did the Otmoor ring series just north of Oxford yesterday, 10 mile level circular walk with 28 caches that took just over 4 hours to complete. Lots of muddy bits though at present
  15. This isn't a gate as it has been suggested but a very clever device to save cachers a lot of wasted time and effort. It is in fact a handy template - if you can fit through one of the slots in the template then you are good to proceed. However if you are unable to post yourself through one of the slots forget it, you are too large for the tight squeezes with the caverns and tunnels ahead Just in case anyone is unsure of the scale of that gate, here is Cachemad in the entrance. It's a tight squeeze! Well that photo has reminded me why theres no chance of me ever doing this series. Somewhere like the Beast was no problem but small enclosed spaces!!! No chance
  16. I have posted this on our local Cornish forum.
  17. Digital for me. Memory-map on my Ipag 3970 coupled to my 60cs. Like Stuey I have a stack of paper maps cluttering up cupboard space.
