  1. I tried two PQs and a route, and none of them have come through yet. Looks like we'll have to go caching the old fashioned way!

Mission Complete - Took the parcel to the post office today (August 16); it will go out with tomorrow's mail. 6. Mission Arrived! - August 18 Twitch showed a cat's usual lack of interest in the mail until I opened the package and shook the treat bag. That got his attention! After that he inspected all his new toys; the bouncy mouse is his favorite by far. He said I could keep the cool coins - a 3 Days of Peace & Caching and a Night Racer coin (neither of which I had in my collection) - and the pathtags, if I give him an extra helping of treats tonight. He's one spoiled kitty! Thanks to M for sending a great mission, and to jasondulac for hosting.

  6. Mission completed June 17.My birthday mission package arrived yesterday, all the way from the Skibums in England. The parcel was in one of those ominous Canada Post bags labeled “We sincerely regret that your mail item was damaged…”, so even though my birthday isn’t until next week I had to open it immediately to check the contents . It amazed me that Canada Post managed to tear a large hole in the parcel, because I certainly couldn’t! I needed scissors to get through that tough plastic. Inside, the pretty wrapping paper was also torn open, but fortunately Skibums had put all the contents in a very sturdy waterproof camo sack, and everything was just fine inside. In addition to the camo sack (which Mr BP will use for his shower stuff when he goes to the pool), and a delicious looking birthday card, was a battery holder, some Body Shop soap, bath gel and eau de cologne (I’ve always loved Body Shop products), and a nano cache container, complete with log book. Hah! Won’t everyone be surprised when the Belfrypotters hide a nano! The highlight was three really great coins – a World Wide Flash Mob V coin, a really beautiful British micro coin with the flag on the front, and 2009 South Wales coin. I’ve long admired the South Wales coin because I collect dragon coins, and this one will look great with my Welsh Brecon Beacons coin. Thank you Skibums for a great Birthday Mission gift. It was perfect timing, because I was still sad from saying goodbye to all my coworkers for the last time yesterday, now that I’m retired, and a parcel in the mail was just the pick-me-up I needed.
  7. Thanks for all the good wishes. I gave up golf because I'm really lousy at it (a nice walk spoiled by a little white ball), so instead I'm going to find all those puzzle caches that I solved but never had time to find. Eartha, thanks, I think you can close this now.
  8. Thanks! Yes, several parties, since I work with a lot of different groups of people. Lunch yesterday, lunch today, breakfast tomorrow, coffee party tomorrow, and dinner tomorrow. Once they started feeding me and giving me presents I started to feel like this is really happening. I've already gained three pounds this week . And I will be spending more time with Mr BP, since he also makes pottery, and likes to do all those other things LadyBee4T mentioned.
  9. Ding! Ding! Ding! You won't need another guess, because you've done your research and guessed correctly! Congratulations LadyBee4T! Yes, tomorrow is my last day (and I won't be working very hard ) and I'll hopefully have time to make more pottery once I have some spare time. Send me an email with your address and I'll get those coins in the mail today. Thanks for making this a short cointest, because I do have work to do today.
  10. Sooner than that, I have quite a bit of vacation time .
  11. After enjoying so many cointests and missions I thought it was time to give one back. On August 31 I will be retiring from my job, after 35 years of my alarm clock going off at 5:00 am. The silence on that first morning will be a symbol of my freedom, so I am giving away a beautiful Symbology coin to celebrate. That day actually comes before the end of August, because I have some vacation time coming, so the coin goes to the first person to guess how many more mornings I will wake up to the sound of my alarm clock. Bonus: I’ll also include a cute little Canada Micro Puck coin if you correctly guess what I’ll be doing with most of my spare time after retirement. Cointest closes today at 2:30 pm Edmonton time, and the coin will be awarded to the closest guess if no one guesses correctly before then.
  12. Any finish would look great with that coin. Very nice! I loved your photo of the four pandas. They look like old codgers sitting on the bench outside the hardware store on Main street, talking about the weather .
  13. Thanks! It's a cute coin and maybe it will bring us luck next time we try for a FTF.
  14. Mission completed! Email sent: April 28 Name received: May 6 Mission sent: May 14 Mission received: June 1 Little did I know that Lorca.NL had our name again for this mission, too! As soon as the parcel arrived yesterday I recognized the box and the return address, so I suspected there would be chocolate for dessert. Very pretty chocolates, with flower designs. We resisted eating them just long enough to take the picture. Also in the box (amazing how much you can pack in a small box) was chocolate-scented incense, a patchouli-scented sachet, a candle in a little watering can, tea light candles with roses on them (too pretty to burn), a flower key chain, rubber ducky, a lovely card with tulips on it, three "geocaching makes you happy" coins (ladybug, cat and pig) and a coin I've never seen before with a bird (chicken?) carrying off a micro cache. Does anyone know what this coin is called? So thanks Lorca.NL for sending us a great Flower Mission; you put a lot of thought into choosing coins and gifts we'd like! Thanks also to Karin (Grodan and Fiabus) for hosting another fun mission.
  15. gonna have to pass on that one, I think, even with the chocolate and brandy! I never liked eggs until I was on a three day canoe/camping trip a few years ago, and that's what they served for breakfast. When you've paddled your little arms off the previous day even scrambled eggs taste good. I prefer omelets, with lots of hot salsa to disguise the egg taste, but I still eat scrambled eggs once in a while.

  17. I'm so relieved it arrived on time (with a few days to spare!) and in such good condition, especially the mug. I always worry when I mail our pottery and hold my breath until I know everything is OK. Happy Birthday Jetske and I hope you're feeling better soon so you can enjoy your special day later this week .
  18. That sounds like DJ J Rock - he wire wraps coins and that would work nicely to make them into a necklace. Try contacting him; he might share his technique.
  19. We found a bug right after it was left in a cache, after being out of circulation for four years. The person who dropped it gave no hints as to where it had been, and the TB's owners hadn't logged on to GC for three years, so not many people celebrated the bug's reincarnation. We took it on vacation and left it in what I thought was a safe cache in San Francisco. It disappeared a few days later and hasn't been seen since , but I'm still watching it in case it returns. Several of our own TBs have been inactive for long periods, too. A few weeks ago we had three TBs come back to life within a few days of each other. For Draco it was the second time he'd disappeared, once for 18 months and once for nine months. I haven't given up on any of our travelers, even the ones that have been missing for a couple of years.
  20. Wow, that was fast, since I only mailed the package eight days ago! It took longer than that for my Turtles to waddle up from Montana, which is just across the Canada-US border from Alberta. I'm glad everything arrived in good shape and that you like the Flower coin. It's a really lovely coin and I like how they chose flowers that are found all over much of North America. Have a happy Spring!
  21. Mine are here too! I haven't seen them yet but Bruce called me here at work to say there was a "fifty pound" package from Montana in today's mail. Yay!
  22. No sign of mine yet - apparently even Norway gets their Turtles before Canada, even though Alberta is practically a neighbouring state! Border Services must like geocoins, 'cause it sure takes a while for them to cross the border . Have any turtles made it to Canada yet?
  23. Most countries are pretty fussy now about what plants (including seeds) you can take or send across the border, because they don't want diseases or invasive plants to spread. It's probably safest to send non-living flower items if your mission is going to another country. Chocolate comes from the cacao plant, so maybe that could be your favorite flower, and you could send chocolate (Lorca.NL sent us some really yummy chocolate at Easter).

  25. I also send an email to the coin or TB owners to let them know that I've marked their coin 'missing' to keep it from showing on my cache page, and to let them know that if it shows up it can be logged normally again.
