  1. same here. Cant log todays finds - or do anything else for that matter
  2. What appears to be happening now is : 1) Field Notes is working ok, 2) Filtering-out of found (logged) caches when searching remains broken. This doesnt appear consistent however as the other day it was filtering out found puzzle and multi caches, 3) When a field note is entered, then this cache is filtered out as found (never use to to this, but it is welcome improvement) Andy
  3. the 'Field Notes' function now appears to be working. Still not filtering out 'my finds' though
  4. This is latest reply from Trimble - blame clearly lies with geogaching ! Andy Yes, the issue that you are facing is because of the changes that Groundspeak (geogaching.com) made to their system. Their engineers have been contacted and we hope to have it fixed soon. Unfortunately they have not provided us a time frame when it will be released. Our engineers are also working on finding some alternate solution but i do not have any confirmed release dates for that too. We certainly apologize for all the inconvenience caused. Regards,
  5. I have written to Trimble several times about this issue since the beginning of the year. Each time I get the standard 'Our engineers are onto it, no date for a resolution' response. I wonder if this is the case. Shame cos the Blackberry often gets a better fix on caches than the Colorado. But without filtering out 'my finds' and creating field notes the application is seriously flawed.
  6. I use a Colorado GPS and have Geocaching Navigator by Trimble installed on the Blackberry. The Blackberry often gets me nearer to a cache than the Colorado and in IMHO the compass is better on the Blackberry. If the Blackberry had decent OS Maps and I could be guaranteed a signal then I would probably ditch the Colorado. The Blackberry is also good for Field Notes so saves the bother of having to remember where you have been on a particular day. The Blackberry gives live access to GC so can be more up-to-date for perusal of recent logs particularly so if the PQ I have downloaded to the Colorado is several days old. Batteries on both last for a long days caching. Manual co-ordinates can also be entered into both, with the same amount of ease
  7. Have a look around Caerwys - this isnt too far into Wales and there are a number of good series to the South/East of this small town (Loopy in Caerwys, Monster walk, Carry on Caching etc). We intend to do Team Marzipans 'Numbers' series shortly One of or all time favourite caches (near Colwyn bay)is this one ... GC117VN. A great adventure Cheers Andy
  8. Had a Garmin Summit for my birthday in May 2005 Sat in draw for 5 months wondering what to do with it Read this article in the Independent in Sep 2005 http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/...rds-505852.html Found 1st cache a few days later Onwards ....
  9. I use the ... Overlay/Import, select gpx in the file type drop down, and open it up! .... approach and dont use gsak. The same file then goes on MM as I load onto the Colorado. What I dont seem to be able to do is get anything other than the standard cache icon to appear on MM. For example if I want GC codes next to the icon then I have to edit properties of each. Any suggestions ?
  10. Why not attend the Yorkshire Jamboree Day in Overton on Sunday http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...7e-e37e5ba4aca8 There will be lots of cachers in attendance (well those that arent up in Perth) and plenty of experts to answer any questions. Good beer as well
  11. This is the best cache in North Wales .... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...7d-08b210f668a4 a great adventure
  12. Some suggestions ... Attend a local event - often a good place to discuss hard to find caches in the area and pick up some tips, Join a local forum (if there is one). In Yorkshire we have www.yorkshiregeocaching.co.uk Use Gc.com 'friends' facility Often there are informal networks on the likes of Facebook where these things can be discussed. We tend to use PAF fairly sparingly. Never used it at all in the first few years of caching but these days its often a good excuse to phone for a natter and see what caches others are up to. Good Luck
  13. Yes - that was the good looking half of Andy_and_Matt
  14. I've only had a Colorado 300 for a couple of weeks but I just deleted last weeks PQ file and replaced it with one for this week. Same with waypoints as i cant see a way to delete them. Server Busy - double posted my entry
  15. I've only had a Colorado 300 for a couple of weeks but I just deleted last weeks PQ file and replaced it with one for this week. Same with waypoints as i cant see a way to delete them.
  16. After 4 years of excellent service from my Garmin Summit I've 'upgraded' to a Colorado 300 with the aim of going paperless. All well so far (but yet to find a cache !). However I have a query relating to downloaded caches. If I download a single cache direct from the cache page I get Description + Hint + Logs on the Colorado. However if I run a pocket query and download this (via easyGPS) I only seem to get Description + Hint. What happened to the logs. Is this a feature of PQs or am I doing something wrong ? Thanks in anticipation Andy (& sometimes Matt)
  17. We have 14 caches on our Ignore List. If anybody wants to know what they are we would tell them. They are all too hard (in our opinion) puzzles or web cams (which we dont fancy). Could add Earthcaches as well as we never do them. One of your caches is on the list Robin - itsastory.co.uk. Please don't be offended , perhaps flattery is more appropriate
  18. You can add our names to the list of Team Marzipan admirers Always willing to help and advise - often unprompted Some really interesting containers used for placing caches Some great locations 'Out of the box' listings on GC.com Already looking forward to this years 'Event on the Pier' On, On to Mike & the Team Andy (& Matt sometimes)
  19. See this cache for a picture of our two ferrets (Monty and Chino) out on a caching trip http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...7a-7a33e30f343a
  20. There is a ParknRide series of caches around York. In fact we parked at the Askham Bar one last Saturday and bagged the cache (not a micro) before getting the bus into town for a days caching. This probably encouraged us not to take the car into town so a useful purpose perhaps - also parking in town is approx £6 whereas ParknRide was £2.30 return (Matt free as he is under 16)
  21. Congratulations Scott from both of us. You have achieved this milestone whilst also being the owner of some of the finest caches in the land - Indiana Jones springs to mind instantly. And now ... get your a*** down to that supermarket and find the little ****** !!!
  22. also worth trying www.poieditor.com/geocache-heatmap which gives a heatmap of your finds with Michael Fish pointing to the UK map
  23. We found a cache the other day (up overlooking the M62) where the cache container was in a plastic bag (not supermarket type) and also in the bag was a full bottle of Becks beer. There were also some discarded empty bottles in the vicinity so we think that some muggles left a beer for the cache !
  24. Well done indeed - enjoyed some of your caches today. After 1000 caches you should be a 'medium sized' bloke ??!!
