  1. I hid a cache right in front of my parents store. I put in a coupon for a free sandwich. People loved it! The cache is still there, but I no longer offer free sandwich coupons, (maybe later [] ). As long as you are not advertising the business, but you are advertising Geocaching, i think its great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! p.s. check out "Poor Boy's Country Store"

  2.

I need a little help with attaching a nice strong magnet to the inside of a round altoids can. I realize that it will rust and am constantly on the lookout for a waterproof same-size container. What will work best to attach this magnet to the tin? Hot glue? 2 part epoxy? Gorilla glue? What would I use to firmly attach such a magnet to a weatherproof container (once I find one, that is)?

I paint the altoids can 1st. I then have a roll of magnetic stip thats 3inch wide and I'm not sure how long. I cut the magnet to fit the bottom of the can and use epoxy or liquid nail to glue it on. As long as you don't fill the can full of lead, It holds pretty good. If you put the log in a good baggie and close the lid good, It will stay dry. Animals and muggles are my only problem!

  3. I do about 95% of my caching alone. With nearly 900 finds, I have only been:

    • Bitten by 13 snakes (resulting in 2 fatalities)
    • Been murdered three times (although one time it was a case of mistaken identify)
    • Been run over by 2 cars and 1 eighteen-wheeler. That was one sucky day.
    • Fell off of 1 cliff.
    • Been pushed off of 2 cliffs.
    • Been attacked by a family of bears and once by a rabid chipmunk.
    • Gotten into a hornet's nest and stung a dozen or so times.
    • Drowned at least a half-dozen times.
    • Buried under an avalanche (lost 3 fingers and my big toe).

But on a serious note, it's only as safe as you make it. If you're going to go tromping around on mountains and in the woods by yourself, take appropriate precautions (make sure someone knows where you are, what time to expect you back, carry a cell phone, extra batteries for the GPS, mark your car, carry a first aid kit, etc). Use some common sense, and if something appears too dangerous to attempt alone, don't do it.

Wow thats funny! Pushed off 2 cliffs!!!!!

  4. My 1st 100 caches where with a buddy, but I got tired of holding his hand the whole time so I now cache alone. I would only do this in areas that I know. If the area is unknown to me I usually wait until I could find a new buddy.

  5. Congrats! I'm sorry that I missed TM6, I ended up having to work and get my truck fixed! I'll be hitting the trails as soon as I can to get "In honor of Doobies 2986th find"! Again, Congrats on many finds!

  6. congrats! Does anyone know if Garmin, Jeep, or Geocaching.com whould pay me a meger salary to geocache everyday? It would be alot better than the jobs I have now! "Jadeskyline-Offical Cache Finder", that just sounds good to me!
