  1. Good location, bad location, who gives a rats rump? Point is that a bilingual sticker may be useful in a bilingual area. TGC why don't you check with a local printer and see what it would cost to print a bunch. Then you could sell them to local cachers like yourself, filling the need. You could sell 'em at cost or add a couple of pennies each and pay off your mortgage.

Yes Frank, we've gone around this circle several times. As of yet no one has given me a compelling reason why I should not log finds as notes instead of found its. Also no compelling reason why I should keep score of finds.
  3. Perhaps you can post them publicly so that others with a similar situation can also benefit from your lingual abilities. Just a thought.
  4. It happens. With all the many thousands of caches out there it has to happen every now and then. You just happened to be unlucky enough this time that it happened to you.
  5. Toys and trinkets are not frowned upon. Busted toys and busted trinkets are. Unfortunately the quality of swag in a cache tends to degrade over time. Try to keep your kids interested more in the adventure than the treasure at the end. Look for larger caches that aren't all that old. You'll find better contents in recently placed caches.

I know some people with very high counts that I would not trust advice from.

Which raises the question of arm-chair DNF'ing... Alas, it has already begun! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...06-c8dd473997a9 Hey! It was your idea.

I wish I could make sense of this. If I had 2k finds and logged your cache you would run out and check it? Why? You think folks with high numbers steal caches? Truth is that what I am talking about is not logless caching. I write notes for most finds. Those people who cache in my area know my handle. They know how long I have been caching weather or not they see my numbers next to my name.

And if you saw a log that said "I found it" from someone who doesn't share their numbers it wouldn't be obvious the cache was still there? If you saw a DNF from a person who doesn't share his numbers you won't think that it may not be there? You don't recognize the names of those cachers in your area that have logged many many finds?

you could log all your finds as notes There are many cachers out there that do not log or log as notes. Lately my cache count has been getting smaller as I change fond it logs to notes. The down side is that it creates a bunch of book keeping problems keeping track of what caches we have been to and what caches are still to be found. None of them are insurmountable but it would be nice if we didn't have to mess with it. I just don't understand the issue. My find count is what it is. Your find count may or may not be what it is. Why should anyone care? I simply find counts interesting from time to time. I have no idea if they are real unless the particular cacher has made a point of stating they are not real. I am not competing with anyone so for me there is no winner and there are no losers. You are right. Why should anyone care if I don't share my numbers?
  11. You'd be ranked right behind me on that list unless they let me hide those numbers. If you go to the store and give the man some money he'll let you take a pair home. Funny how that work ain't it?
  12. Aren't these your words? Don't they ask for opinions on the various aspects of your hides? Are we not instructed to base these opinions on what we read on your cache page? My opinion is that your continued use of your cache pages to further your agenda against this bank is rather distasteful. But as I said, that is my opinion. If you don't want opinions that may differ from your own perhaps you should not ask for them. Then again that is also just my opinion. Yes, but is it really any different than a member, say Kit Fox for instance, using every post in the forum to publicize his hatred of the current President of the United States? I don't think either instance should be allowed, or all should be allowed. JMO This OP asked for criticism and then was upset when he got it. Oh well. Perhaps others will read this thread and leave their agendas at home to.

Personally I'd rather not be included in the competition. For me it IS about the journey and not the numbers.

What say you? Can we have the option to keep our find count to ourselves?
  17. No, part of the adventure of a multi is not knowing. I don't need or want to know every detail of the adventure before I leave the house. If I did there would be no reason leave the close proximity of a working toilet.
  18. I prefer not to compete for position on these lists. None of my accounts shows an accurate count anyways.
  19. Um, no. Can we come up with a term to replace muggle?
  20. But WHO gets to chose their definition of wow. I certainly isn't going to be the same for you as it is for me and we may well both have a different idea of wow than KoosKoos. I vote no.
  21. There are many people who are not necessarily interested in find counts. They are interested in being taken to interesting places that other geocachers/waymarkers have provided coordinates for. The forums are full of people who want all physical geocaches to be be in "Wow" places. It is clear that for some people the point of geocaching/Waymarking should be to share the coordinates of "Wow" places. The problem may be that because nobody can come up with a definition of a "Wow" place. Geocaching is about hiding physical caches that others can find. These may or may not be in "Wow" places, though many people may prefer caches in "Wow" places. What is needed for those who want to visit "Wow" locations is a separate website. YES! and NO! For all the geocachers that are also looking for an extra-ordinary experience while they are caching, there is a simple answer: WOW Factor ratings! When a cacher logs a find, he has the option to give a 1-5 star rating (with half stars) concisely characterizing the positive feelings/experience the cache provided. The WOW Factor should be a column on the search results page and shown on the cache details page. It seems like it would be relatively simple to institute and would prove useful to many users. I count the following as benefits that don't take away from any other aspect of the game. User ratings would encourage cache placers to develop their skills. And many would also enjoy the competition and recognition! Please forgive the size, I got excited. I'm starting a thread about this to take a poll. Please do a search before you start such a thread.
  22. So, you found a bit more inspiration after all?
  23. Well said. As a cache owner I know I'd prefer you ask me first. Also, keep in mind that you don't have to find every cache. It isn't a competition or a test. the number one thing is to have fun.
  24. I see your three police cars and raise three, plus guns drawn. And that was in a public park. Seems a neighbor to the park called me in as a "nut with a gun". I didn't know Garmin made a gun.
  25. Now that is a meaningless bunch of fertilizer.
