  1. Load the nearby caches into your gps. Be sure to include stages of any multis and try to find any puzzles near by. When in doubt ask your reviewer if your proposed cache site is clear of any encroachment issues.
  2. Why does everything have to be about being "worked up"? We can't have a conversation about what we would rather see for online logs without being "worked up over" it? I'd like to see an improvement in online logs. That doesn't mean I'll loose sleep over it.
  3. The hider used very bad judgment. I mean really? A LPC? Come on! You can do better that that.
  4. Very true. Those cookie tins would be rusty junk in a month or two around here.
  5. What can-o-worms? This is just a bit of semi-lively debate. As far as I can tel nobody has started throwing food yet.
  6. Check your states recreational use laws. These laws are in place to allow land owners to open up their property to casual use without fear of liability for things occurring from that use. Depending on how your state laws are written and interpreted your land owner may be better off giving full, proper permission.
  7. Speed caching. How can you enjoy the world around you if you are moving through it so fast that all you see is a blur? Oh well. It takes all kind of trees to make a forest.
  8. I try to put some effort into a log. Sometimes I comment on the things like are on your list. Sometimes I intentionally log with TFTC or something like that. I'm not going out of my way to write a log to remember when it would take more effort than the CO put into the hide.
  9. I have no problem using the Needs Archive log when I feel it is required. It isn't like that actually archives the cache. All it does is bring the cache to the reviewers attention for further review. If I am right in my assumption then a space is opened for a new cache. If I am wrong I caused the reviewer a few minutes effort. Sorry guys. You're doing a heck of a job.
  10. I guess you've never been in the military where Florescent orange might get you killed? I seriously hope that the troops are getting better equipment than an out of date Etrex. Even when that cammo Etrex was new it was far from military grade equipment.
  11. They will probably notice them at some point. Most night caches are done by groups of two or three. The cacher in the lead turns to say something to their buddies and sees the tacks. Good news is they will probably think they are so they can find their way back.
  12. I just posted an SBA on a cache yesterday. The cache is a micro just slightly larger than match safe. One end has been busted out of it for over a year. The original log is a moldy wad of wet paper. The log that someone added is not much better. The owner has not logged in since April. As the cache had a needs maintenance log nearly a year old at that time it is obvious that the owner wasn't going to fix it. I could have fixed it for him but decided that I would rather see someone else have a shot at placing a cache in that location. Maybe they will keep up with the repairs. Then again the SBA may just be the poke in the ribs that gets the owner to step up and fix this long neglected cache.
  13. Hello, I checked to confirm that your submission is properly awaiting review in the queue. It is! I see a cache listing that you submitted on August 7th. It is now August 10th. While reviewers strive to provide an initial review within a goal of 72 hours, sometimes it takes longer than that. I was away last weekend and have published 41 caches today with many more weekend submissions still waiting for me to look at. Thank you in advance for your patience. While you are waiting, have a look at this article in the Groundspeak Knowledgebase. Didja have yerself some fun?
  14. My gray and black 60Cx has bright yellow duct tape on the sides. I dropped it in deep woods when it was less than a week old. Took over an hour to find it and it was only in the 50' circle around the GZ that I was searching. I've never had that problem since.
  15. Is there a disturbance in the cache posting system? Been a rash of these questions of late It should have been looked at by now. Is the "Yes, this listing is active" box checked?
  16. If I remember correctly the Etrex Cammo is the same as the Etrex legend. Not positive on that. I would try to get one of the "X" series units. Way more sensitive. That and you don't want to drop the cammo unit in the woods. You'll never find it. All that said, the old Etrex series have found many many thousands of caches.
  17. I'd heard that they give preferential treatment to the Puppy Monster. Anyone who has to type with paws instead of hands deserves a break.
  18. graculus@dalesinwales.co.uk This is the reviewer who published one of the caches you found. If it is the wrong reviewer for where your cache is hidden I am sure they will put you in touch with the proper reviewer. Did you check to be sure the "Yes, this listing is active" box is checked? The reviewer will not see the listing if the box is unchecked. Edit-speelings coarectionses.
  19. I've done such caches before. What I was wondering is if there was any new developments. I remember there had been some conversation about it but don't know if anything had come from all that jaw juice.
  20. I'd be interested to hear from a reviewer on this subject. All this talk has gotten me to thinking.
  21. As long as GPS use is required to find the cache I don't see how they could deny the cache. The argument against has been that GPS use hasn't been required.
  22. No need for it to work in the building. The first stage fulfills the GPS requirements. The hints in the first stage tell you how to find the final.
  23. This... 100% this. Add me to this list. A chunk of velcro stuck out of sight on the bottom of a bench isn't gonna even make the most ornery of parks workers even bat an eye. It'll just get lost in the used chewing gum.
