  1. If that is all you really want then the etre10 will be a good gmatch. I loaded over 1000 caches into mine, but the maps do make it kinda wishing for the 20, which i also bought.
  2. At least in my area, if a group forms, it is usually then a group effort.
  3. My complaints: 1. If I buy the maps downloadable, then why do I have a max on the megs of what I can download? I want to be able to download a whole state at high res for my maps, not a stupid box that doesn't even cover my whole city. 2. The software stinks. Megallan is a little better, but lack of good software for all GPS companies is horrible. This is 2012, not 1980, hire some programers, and ask your clientel what they really want. 3. what a brand new etrex 20 does not come with both battery compartment and built in rechargebles is beyond me.
  4. On the etrex 20 the menu's aren't so deep you would end up on weird screens. If it moves someplace you were not at, 1 back and it's usually right on the main page. The joystick is also not really much of an issue, I never would dream that I would have liked it, but it is basically, just right to use. I personally have more issues with my phone and the touchscreen then I do on my gps.
  5. etrex 20. you'll need whatever maps you want, but it can pretty much do all the above and is very simple.
  6. http://www.mygeocachingprofile.com/ there is even a tutorial, and it is owned by geocaching.com now
  7. from the map window, hit menu, and there should be an option.
  8. I have noticed a lot of caches with lots 6+ in a row DNF's and even needs maint logs that seem to go over 3+months in my area. Some even seem to be from pretty active cachers. What should be done? They are not even crossed out and being maintained but just seem to be missing. I even went to one today that has not been found for over 4 months now and has DNF's saying it's not there. There seems to me that there would be a more timeline based system for how long they have, or something. Whats the next step on trying to get these fixed? I usually post a needs maint on them, but really want some of these fixed or removed so others can replace them.
  9. Do a search in google for us maps, just make it the size you want and print the back with instructions, like color in the state your in...
  10. Every cache has a list for number of times found on the listing. Right before the log there is a smiley face withe a number, that's the number of finds on that cache.
  11. I'd like for it to have all the map features that the online beta maps has, If I could run that section of the website from my droid all day I would. Map choices... I got other apps I can link map databasses to all day long.
  12. ev en the etrex 10 is a great cheaper start. The only downfall really is the no memory card and no maps, but if you can live with those two small things, then it's a great strter unit, I had a 10 but then took it back for the 20.
  13. I down load PQ's and load them in using easygps, It's free and works great. I love the etrex 20 also.
  14. my 8 yr old uses my etrex 20 with no difficulty, and is very accurate. You may still sometimes get a bouncy compass but not if your moving around. I got mine as a kit that included the 100K topo sd card also.
  15. I read several reviews that say it has the ability, but can't find anywhere how to do it. Anyone have a 20 or 30 and done it?

  17. I got an eTrex 10 Garmin and for the low cost is a great GPS. Granted it is in BW and you can't add more maps, but it works great for paperless and very accurate. Right at 100.00 new also.
  18. Just got my first GPSr unit, was looking for something to use till I decided and played with one to figure out what I want in a high end one. Ended up with a Garmin etrx10. Great unit for the price, everything about it is par above the rest in the price range >100$. If your on the border with what features you want and want to learn more and see what you use, this is it, I use it in conjunction with my android apps and it has it all. Personally I will never stop using some parts of my phone for caching, but with the added accuracy of the GPSr it makes it way more enjoyable.
