  1. Im after a TomTom for the car, I got a garmin nuvi but in order to see the POIs I have to be zoomed in too far for it to be actually useful for cache n dashes nearby! I know the TomToms dont have this silly zoom in rule so i can see them from a usable distance. I do know though that certain tomtoms have started to not support proximity alerts on custom POIs so which do that are currently sold and I would like bluetooth as well. thanks
  2. Led lenser fan here too, bit normal Torch and head torches are from them. Dont forget go outdoors do a price compare plus 10% facility
  3. I've found a geocoin yesterday but it not trackable, someone hasnt placed it as a gift as its from 2006 and looks quite old too but I also cant remember which cache I received it from as did quite a few. Do lost coins still exist in the system? What shall I do with it? cheers
  4. I hit day 125 today and I'll be stopping very soon, I didn't purposefully do it, I started caching and after 30 days realised I'd started a streak so then I decided I'd go to 100 days but I did it more challenging and got as many as I could each day so after 4 months despite doing a streak I hit the 1000 cache mark, now the closest walkable enjoyable set for me and the dog is 7 miles or so away and it's not feesible to drive it everyday! I think I'll hit 130 and then stop, I was gonna stop today but I have caching plans tomorrow and I'd rather a round number. If money were no object id keep going as I still enjoy it just as much!
  5. The OH would love to drive route 66 for our honeymoon so I'd get some good ones along the way... Not the power route as I'd want to do quality caches rather than quantity when it's special
  6. I chose to do the 'hippos below' and did it last weekend with my best mate :-) thanks for all the suggestions
  7. using a Garmin 62s, used a 60csx for a couple of months but decided to upgrade for the few extras including paperless option!
  8. a bit far to go for us but i've added them to a bookmarked list for future plans when we could go n stay n try n get as many of them done as poss.
  9. yeah that would be a good idea if my first was anywhere interesting and the fact im sharing the milestone it wouldnt really work out, cheers though!
  10. The below and above set sound really good fun but ill have to ask my fellow 1000 cacher we're hoping to do together as his movements are more limited than me and he may think its beyond his ability, maybe ill message the CO and see which of the set he thinks we'll be able to manage. I've saved cut down cache and alchemy, fellow cacher has already done cut down cache and to collect 14 other caches I'm not sure if he'd struggle... I'm not even sure he'll be able to mount up that number of caches in the meantime especially considering how fast I mount them up! I think I'll do severn virtual myself soon before the 1000 just for a nice day out now the kids are back at school! thanks for the recommendations, keep em coming!
  11. Sitting mat, notepad, binoculars, gardening gloves, first aid kit, multi tool, torch, headtorch, snacks, loo paper, wipes, spare batteries for all torches and gps, back up battery for the iphone, dog whistle for emergencies, trackables, purse, waterproof jacket.... think thats everything... oh tweezers are always in too
  12. Kidderminster ish, dont mind travelling a little bit but not for hours on end!
  13. Well Im approaching the 1000 mark and will reach it before the end of Nov so can anybody recommend me a worthy cache as such a big milestone for me? cheers
  14. Congrats to me for tomorrow completing a 100 day consecutive run, generally speaking with more than 1 cache a day as well!
  15. I cant use excuses atm, I'm trying for a 100 day streak of caches and after that I'm going for 1000 caches in 6 months! If you dont like caching on your own get a dog, mine comes with me everywhere, bit less lonely!
  16. How about a tree? If you've not already done the FMF caches in trees near to Bridgnorth that is
  17. I've always been extremely wary of cows mainly due to lack of exposure with them but mostly I ignore them and they've either watched me around or some have been nosey and come and said hi which again is fine as I can tell the difference. However, having now experienced them with dogs that is another matter!! I kept her on a lead from them and under control but the other week I had to go through a field of them and although we stayed away they all turn as a herd and stampeded us as we walked through, I know you're by supposed to run and at first I walked away and backed off however they kept charging and we basically had to sprint away to stop something happening to us! If I now pass a field with cows in and the dog most of the time I'll by go through the field or it depends on the cows body language, my OH says walk slow let them watch you and don't be alarmed (he was a farmers son) I'll tend to keep routes with potential cows to te weekend when the OH comes with me and he can deal with them now!!
