It is ONLY INSIDE teh apps thet there is a limitation.. the APP is FREE, and if you use a free account you can start right away...
IF that is not enought for you Geo FIX, then that means you now have 2 options... you can use a GPS log on teh site transfert the geocaches you want, ( or even take note printe page etc...) you have access to ALL non premium caches...
Option 2 , you Buy a premium memship 30Day to try it further, or a year long membership... to have access to ALL caches in the FREE app. even Premium Ones, possibility to have automated caches lists (pockey querry) external apps can also connect to the site (Live API) can even cache OFFLINE with many....
Is the APP a way to mahe people fork some money to help support you hobby.... YES ... is that a good tool YES.
but you can still use your car GPS ( in coordinate view) and a piece of paper with noted coord liek we did almost 15 years ago for free.... but the site had great improvement with online list, maps, etc paid by member who decided to support the hobby... then YES you may have to pay a bit to have MORE than the FREE APPS.
But you will have much more for a reasonable price

As someone that logged them all, I did it for fun. A lot of work went into the creation of the caches and I even tried to write a little unique log on each one (I got through half of them before going cut-n-paste). I even downloaded and played the Wherigo.
It is fully on me if I mess up my stats and souvenirs. Whatever HQ decides to do, I'm ok with that.
My only wish is that these were set up under the Lab Cache group. I was hoping that even though the displayed web content looks like regular caches, the background database had them listed as Lab Caches. This would have been a nice joke, allowed the GeoArt to remain, and not chewed up the stats.
I second that.... That "joke" was VERY well created, and VERY funny, i took time to read almost all of the cache pages, i am a big SCI-FI Fan.... especially SW-ST-WHO And i played alog to do some creative logs at first.. them i realised that "souvenirs" were awarded and my "badgen" exploded with "uncalled" for badges.... so i reverted my logs for notes... BUT the souvenirs remained and badges were not "reseted" .. so since my data was already "fooled" i decided to log tem as found anyway... but i really would have apreciated if there were a way to revert those stats... i would have created a special "country/state" in Space, so would have created a special souvenirs only for the joke when all logged, them a script would have turned all logs into notes after the april 2nd.

So it is basically an April fools joke which over 4000 people have armchair logged.
How odd.
Either some are doing it because they know its a joke or some don't and will know that when it is all gone.
I have seen older Jokes from GS, and each time caches were locked and deleted after the joke!
So i logged those think they would be "deleted" they should have created a special "state" or "country" then have that Country be the cache location , "SPACE FISH" with aspecial "april fool" souvenir if logging all those, preventing them to be in our Regaular stats.... i try very hard to have honnest earned stats But i LIKED that joke so much that i took the bad wagon expecting to be all deleted after it ... looks liek we will be stuck with teh joke, we can delete ro make our log "notes" BUT Fav, and souvenirs will stay there, and i do not want to Hide since it will not be awarded again if condition is met later on....

I am ok with the idea of a free tryout apps... but still it should require email validation from the site
More specifically, the MC is suitable for users of Groundspeak's free intro app. None of the third-party apps support it. Groundspeak's paid app doesn't support it. And based on the complaints, a lot of mobile browsers don't support the web version.The MC is suitable for App users -
Yup you are right the REAL problem with email contact, is that there is still a way to be UNVERIFIED.... i think as Premium member we sould also have the option to "block" unverified player to have our caches... i have no problem with basic members, it is those who does not even want to gives email... then i dont want to give them the coordinate to MY cache! I still do own that cache so i should still decide what are the conditions to give coordinates!
Having Mandotory Verification email would save SOooooooooooooooooooo many problem at once! and YES picture in email would be good!
...so it's not that GS blocks contact of Unverified Members.
I would hope not, since that was the whole point behind creating the Message Center in the first place!
It still baffles me that so much unnecessary time, effort, and resources were spent to solve that problem. All that needed to be done was:
- Require email validation for all members
- Add the ability to attach a picture to the old email system
- Add GC code auto-linking and auto-fill info (ie. Pre-fill the email with the GC code and cache name) to the old email system
We'd then be able to contact any member, and would have the oft-requested additional functionality in the old system. Instead of making these relatively-straightforward* changes and getting us to a good spot much faster*, tons of time was spent setting up a new system that doesn't actually solve the problem (rather than solving the unverified member problem, it simply ignores it), does give some new functionality, but also takes away other functionality, ease-of-use, and customizability (managing the emails as you desire). Add onto all that an inexplicable push to use the unfinished and unfit-for-purpose system where some members can't even use it at all, and we have a fiasco on our hands.
I actually used to defend Groundspeak pretty vociferously regarding some of their decisions. Those days have long since passed. I guess I just need to start accepting that I'm no longer in the target demographic that drives all of their decisions, so my needs and desires as a non-smartphone cacher will not be met.
*...as it appears from the outside. Maybe the code is such a mess that it would be too difficult?

I think i am not the only one HATING the fact that now there are TWO places we need to checkl for contacts!! HEY!!!
Why knot "BRIDGE" those two system!... if i want all Comminication trought the New System or Trought Old system... NOT EVREYONE are using IPHONES or DROIDS
You know geocachers, with GPSr ! are Still playing the game!
So if you are a new I-Player then fine you may want all your message becoming a ICHAT message
but if you are a regular GPSr player you may want ALL communication go trought email... ( and not a stupid notification to go to website to read mail, but teh ACTUAL message)
So option sould be in your profile

What do you like most about challenge caches?
Not much, it breaks the casual and fun part of geocaching, it is not a competition.
Challenge are ALR, ALR are not permited.. so....
What do you not like about challenge caches?
The fact that most of them require specific conditions not obtainable anywhere any time. It is not everywhere that there are 100+ cachers with 100+ hides each. Geographic regions varies sont cache are too dofferent and may not meet the "requirement" for those challenges
What would you like to see changed about challenge caches?
IF those are only ABOUT NUMBERS then they should not be a "physical" cache, not Blocking spots, Those Challenge are Numbers soooo put it on Stat page, make yhem as acheivements... but not as Caches. not Physical caches.
If you could describe your favorite challenge cache type, what would it be?
I like teh way "badges" works, denote accomplishement, acheivements, but they sare not CACHES
What types of challenge caches do you avoid?
Any challenge that state Behaviours on teh way to cahes, time restriction, geological restrictions etc...

I like the idea of a "roadtrip" i would also suggest a Coin, Postcard of Local home, some local pictures, and why not build a "public bookmark" of the 10 best local caches in the card and write the adress http:.... of the bookmark that way it will be fun facts about the local caches... and if any one decide to do a road trip and decide to bring the misison on hand will know what caches to do !
Why not include a short text describing why you should come to our local caching area!

I thjnk for API for thrid parties apps they also need premium account for many options...
BUT it is well worth it!
