  1. It has been a long time since we have been geocaching with any consistency or posted on the forums for that matter. Anyway, we have picked it up again and now we are looking to add the Garmin GPSMAP 62s to our toolbox and are hoping to find some feedback from some of the local geocachers. If you own a Garmin 62s or have spent time geocaching with one, we would love to hear your feedback. Currently we use GPSMAP 60Csx and I think it is going to be a tough act to follow as it is a great piece of equipment. Thanks. Tex, Capie, & Mr. T
  2. We were looking for a cache known to be extremely well camouflaged and in the process of leaving no stone unturned, we found this little guy, Batrachoseps major.
  3. Not a good price, some of the forum members have reported finding them for as low as $199.00 There are better prices to be had. Today(1/5/2011) at 9:45 AM PST Amazon.com is having a Lightning Deal on the 60CSx which means it will be even less than $199.00 and with free shipping if you are a Prime Member.
  4. I have a couple of questions...Has anyone ever experienced GPSr failure when used around hearing aides? Took my dad geocaching and every time he held the receiver it went haywire. Can small electric devices affect a GPSr like this? Second question. Does anyone know how you can request a replacement benchmark for one that is missing? I went to find a benchmark while in Texas and all I found was an engraving in a rock outcrop. I think it would be nice to replace what was stolen.
  5. We are headed to Texas within the week. If anyone would like to send some travel bugs, geocoins, etc.., we would be happy to take them with us. Let us know.
  6. Wow!! It seems like such a long time since we have looked at the forums or even visited the geocaching web site. Our last geocaching was in February for our Palm Springs caching trip and I guess we picked up our own little Tex&Capie "travel bug" while there! Yep, Capie is expecting a new little San Diego geocacher due around Thanksgiving! Must have been all that clean desert air! This was a surprise for us and the shell shock is now wearing off....so on that note I think we will go caching today!! P.S. In my excitement I accidently made a new topic instead of a new reply. How do I delete this new topic? Thanks.

  8. I have not done the caches your refer to, but at least you would not be alone ... plenty of cache to keep you company! One thing I know (not by personal experience) FOR SURE - It is possible to do 100 caches in a day out there! I know we are trying to fight the urge to just take off from work and go....I mean look at it...it is a sea of green!!! MUST FEED THE ADDICTION
  9. Howdy everyone. We have a quick question regarding caches around Palm Desert and Lake Cahuilla. Has anyone done caches GCJHF0 - GCJ23C and GCJ2TK- GCJ23G ? Do you need a truck or SUV to do these caches or can they be walked?? We aren't sure if our Toyota Matrix will make it to the trailhead.
  10. Well, judging by his log, he has a real healthy ego Interesting Barbie doll photos
  11. I am not speaking badly of anyone's caches or otherwise being critical. Rather illustrating that mistakes are made (by all cachers) and perhaps more often with those new to the game. I don't feel that a beginner's mistakes warrant a thread discussion but, as one was started I gave my opinion. The opening thread made comment of not reading/following instructions properly. Had we done exactly so today, we would have ended up 20 miles away. Of course I appreciate the time and effort that goes into making caches. At the same time if there weren't new people joining the sport, I doubt that there would be as many and such a variety of caches for all of us to enjoy. It is my personal feeling that pointing out a beginner's mistakes contributes nothing to the sport. Unless one is willing to coach new cachers, we must understand that mistakes are going to happen.
  12. Well, as Capie asked earlier, I would love to hear examples. On the other hand, we were all newbies at one time and probably all made mistakes. It just goes with the sport. There are plenty of experienced cachers that are still making mistakes. For example in the past 24 hours, we have found an incorrectly logged TB (ROX 4 TB) and a multi-cache with incorrect instructions for the final WP (Tranquility #18: Trinity). A couple of examples that the author of this thread might find particularly relevant.
  13. Could you elaborate? What has been your experience?
  14. Congratulations to everyone that reached a new milestone!! Not to toot our own horn but, we were proud of this moment today.
  15. Just got in from another day of MTRP. Did some caches on the other side of the 52 today. Came across this little guy when we first headed out this morning.
  16. Gobble gobble gobble!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Just waiting for the food to settle so we can finally have some pie!!! Hope everyone is having a good day!
  17. We wanted say Thank you to everyone here that voted for our Jeep 4X4 geochallenge photo. We didn't win but, with all your support we were able to secure one of 2nd place positions! Happy Thanksgiving and happy hunting to everyone that is caching in the morning.
  18. Okay, you have twisted my arm. I guess I can go back to MTRP for some more caches. How about some caches on the north side of the 52? Here is the list I am thinking about11/23/05 MTRP List If anyone would like to go, email me. We could meet at N 32° 50.823 W 117° 01.797 at Equestrian Center. Duganrm and I started at 9:30 AM today and finished just as the sun was starting to set. Could do the same tomorrow.
  19. already told the boss I may or may not be in to work tomorrow. his only question was if I was going to be sick or using vacation. Well, I am going to try and find parking at N 32 49.125 W 117 03.349 near the visitor center around 9:30 tomorrow morning. I think I will start with GCM1B7 and GCMB7X. Then I plan to walk over to GCPDGY and then up the climber's trail. If anyone is interested, feel free to send me an email.
  20. Anyone headed to MTRP tomorrow? I think I will try this list tomorrow:MTRP list
  21. Hey, we heard back from the SoCalAdmin early this morning regarding Hangman's Highway cache. It has been enable again for anyone that would like to get this one off their list. No luck with the cache's owner. He has fallen off the grid.
  22. 8 lbs 5 oz ... 22 inches DOB : November 17th, 2005 3:24 PM MST Congratulations!!! He is too precious!
  23. Even though we joined, I think we are going to pass on the Terracaching.com. They do not seem to be as friendly as the GC.com crowd. As TT mentioned, I am not too crazy about the jabs I have received.
