  1. I bought this GPS today; I like what I have seen so far. Yeah the joystick is a little annoying but with 25+ years of gaming, I'm ok with it. My question: 1) is there a way to save the changes I make to settings? Every time I power off and then back on, the navigation settings for primary coordinate type: Lat/Long reset to default of degrees and I want them to stay at degrees and minutes. Also my secondary coordinate type: UTM also rests. Since the geocaching.com site, which I am directing downloading from to place caches on my GPS, locates via degrees and minutes and UTM as defaults, I feel my accuracy will be off if my GPS is not using the same units. I can quickly redo my setting after powering up gps but it is a waste of time.... Any others using this unit have a solution?
  2. I understand its true they all have the same accuracy, but a nice dedicated GPSr is going to get a stronger signal in adverse situations no? My friend's iPhone and my Nuvi just got us lost under tree cover. My 60csx and his Oregon have made things smooth as butter. Thanks for the advice! The 60CSx is on my radar as affordable but I am also considering 2 other MORE affordable units: Garmin eTREX Venture HC or Magellan explorist GC. Any input on those two units?
  3. Sadly, I am completely positive that it is 30 METERS. I dont want to be right on top of the cache but the GPS needs to get me closer than 30 METERS.
  4. So I am new cacher and I have been using my HTC Evo 4G with the c:geo app. The accuracy is miserable and I am usually off an average of 30 METERS; e.g I am standing on top of the cache (after finding it) and my c:geo app say 30 meters away. I have decided to get a GPS. I will likely carry the phone too after gps purchase so I dont really have to have a paperless geocache gps (although I wouldnt mind it). My questions are these: 1) What GPS has the best accuracy regardless of price? How much EPE/error in feet for the unit you recommend? 2) What GPS, for under around $200 has the best accuracy? How much EPE/error in feet for the unit you recommend? Overall, I love the c:geo app but I need a GPS that will get me closer; 30 METERS is not nearly close enough.
  5. Thanks to you both for your replies! I actually use c:geo; I like it except for the 30meter+ accuracy issue. I will try the GPS status and toolbox; thanks for the advice!
  6. Hi fellow cachers. I have just recently started geocaching and I absolutely love it. I am doing ok I suppose but feel I need some advise. My HTC Evo 4G routinely places me 30-50 METERS off of ground zero. Now, dont get me wrong, I dont want to have a super easy find but if it wasnt for the hints and log postings of fellow geocachers, I pbly wouldnt have found any. I would like to get closer to ground zero. Is there anything I can download to my Evo to improve my GPS accuracy? I looked into the Trimble Geocache navigator but it doesnt seem to be available for the Evo... Please help!
