  1. Yes! This is more of a Wednesday topic. It's refreshing to see it on a Sunday. OK, how bout we talk about how micros suck and are ruining the game? +1 yes
  2. HAH! this would do no good. They have alienated many people in "their area". We know because we are in their area. We have had to deal with them for over 6 months of them emailing from multiple email accounts, we've had NM and even write note logs deleted because they believed that we were leaving them to harass them. Other cachers have logged DNFs on the cache that is clearly missing. We asked them to please make a maintenance run and were publicly humiliated on the cache page. It has gotten to the point where (Mind you, this is all alledged) they are watching our every move and keeping a folder and posting to facebook, all of our "rude, mean spirited, nasty" logs. The reason we know this is because it has been told to us multiple times in emails that were sent to us. And the best part to all of this is they are threatening to report us to GS with this folder of logs. This is just our experience, others have had similar experiences, and unfortunately, it is at the point where if you mention their name at an event you get the universal response of "Don't go there!" *eyes rolling* Other members don't not like them because they are different or more competitive, they don't like them because TSAWSF makes it a point to get involved where they are not involved. Still, none of that would justify anyone stealing their caches. But, so far we have no proof than any cachers have stolen the caches in question...just allegations. Of course, once you have rubbed enough folks in your community the wrong way (and you know it), it's 'pretty obvious' that anything that goes wrong with your caches is because 'they are out to get you'. ^ Agree 100% There is no justification for stealing caches. There never is. but like you said, "once you have rubbed enough folks in your community the wrong way (and you know it), it's 'pretty obvious' that anything that goes wrong with your caches is because 'they are out to get you'". It is unfortunate that it happens. You reap what you sow. We just don't have any sympathy for them, neither do other locals. This why we believe they come to the forums, to get sympathy from others who have not had the pleasure of dealing with them. No it should not be obvious that if anything went wrong with my caches that it was geocachers I'd assume it was muggles because geocachers are mostly grown adults not children.if your going to resort to stealing a container that's pretty bad. I assume that Twof my caches would be muggled but mostly because no one puts it back right at all the lid or anything on one of my caches if your mad you couldn't find it in two secounds I'm sorry?
  3. Very elementary school of you, like really...In life you will find it can take just one disturbed person NOT two. (Ten years as a constable showed me that fact) There is one idiot in every car wreck, but sometimes it's 2 or more. Often the rubberneckers cause more problems than the original accident.. .....nice I'd still go with no it does not take two and no there is usual never a other side only geocachers think that way.
  4. Isn't that the thrill for most geocachers illegal ones and seeing how long they last oh and don't forget to favorite it
  5. I'd love to go there and get that one
  6. I'm confused, why would you return to that store if you do not want to buy something there after going in once to find the cache? That cache was published in Jan 2007, the update to the guideline that Palmetto just posted went into effect in Feb 2007. It was published under the guidelines that were current at that time. To drop of travel bugs...I've shown people where it is.... To take a travel bug or discover them leave a cool trinket seeing as tourists visit there .just happen to be in the neighborhood so you take a look ............and I do that with caches outsid of a shop travel bug drop just happen to be in the area . Its a cache I should be allowed to return to it as many times as I wish and not have to be obligated to buy something And rules haha
  7. Inside a business, a cache is not going to be allowed by a reviewer - not if they understand that it's inside. In Feb 2007, this was added to the commercial section, " If the finder is required to go inside the business, interact with employees, and/or purchase a product or service, then the cache is presumed to be commercial." Those clauses should be read as connected with "or", as in: go inside the business, OR interact with employees, or purchase... Sometimes cachers think that inside is okay, if the cacher doesn't have to talk to anyone. By itself, inside is enough for a presumption of commercial intent. Prior to Feb 2007, some inside caches were published by reviewers. Since then, they may have slipped by a reviewer, or cache owners may have gotten permission from Groundspeak for an inside cache (I know of some like this). I just disabled one that I published recently, assuming outside with permission. Turns out to be inside with permission. It can move outside, or it can be archived. so we have a cache here called sounds like geocaching its in the store and I always feel obligated to buy something every time I go in there it kinda sucks and I've passed by a few geocachees that noticed me coming out and asked if it was in there I said ya and they were very hesitant on going in and asked if u had to buy anything I said I don't know
  8. Haha it was that cache and a few others that made me ask
  9. Just was wondering cause I've seen a few in coffee shops and that always makes me feel obligated to buy something.
  10. What's your opinion on caches in business or around a business to what seems to me to promote them isnt that bad?
  11. I wish I lived near there to help you that's awesome
  12. That's how I go about it. To my way of thinking, the hobby I am participating in is called geocaching, not FTFing. If Groundspeak ever gets officially involved in the FTF aspect of this hobby, and dictates some rules or guidelines suggesting courses of action, I might reconsider. Till then, it's just another adventure. Like all of my finds, I log them when I can, without regard for those folks who are so desperate to introduce competition into every aspect of their lives that they feel the need to bring it here as well. If you, (the collective 'you'), wish to play some bizarre side game whilst participating in this fun, relaxing hobby, feel free. Just don't be so inconsiderate as to expect me to change my routine to satisfy your sense of entitlement. +1 agreed
  13. It is in Canada look at London drugs..
  14. Hahahahahahahaha I agree that's what it seem. Sometimes I just want parking coordinates
  15. You emailed them? I'd have emailed back saying no. If that's how I do it by putting a few letters or what ever does not matter if you don't like it well another cacher will be along shortly with a better log.its not a matter of being lazy maybe you have nothing to say or you took up the hobby as may be something to do when you hike
  16. I don't have a problem with someone copying posts, but copying them in the same topic? That's just tacky. At least have the common decency to copy them in another topic in a completely different forum. Its not tacky its funny haha
  17. Ftf to me is not part of the game so I'd post when ever you shouldn't have to rush just becausw people created a side game that has no rules really.if they don't like it than don't play the game
  18. I agree. They can't block of a whole town if they need that area they should make a cache etc.if someone told me that right now id be tempted to go buy a box of Tupperware and pit out ten in a few days. An events a meet and greet don't need tons of caches
  19. As long as you gave credit for the copying the cache I don't see why not it would be nice to have more unique caches out there. Plus everywhere copy rights look at ford Toyota all the cars are the same.
  20. wow I agree special the last line what geocaching doesn't need is more made up rules to satisfy someone's sense of entitlement
  21. Hahaha that's kinda sad and funny
  22. I have a Magellan and I don't leave candy why would that have anything to do with it Some units come from the factory with Geocaches uploaded already. A few people will use them to find caches without ever visiting the website and learning what not to put inside. Ah yeah that's true but it only had one cache in there for my area
  23. Wrong. While it might not attract bears in the city, it could attract coyotes. You might be surprised how many are in the city. And speaking of coyotes, the problems of food in a cache are lasting even after the food is gone. The coyote(or even other animals) will find food just once in a cache. even if the cache is cleaned out and the container is replaced the animals can remember the location and remember there was food there before, and will come back. While not as likely to happen if there is food once, it could still happen. More likely it will happen with a cache that keeps getting stocked with food. And it's not just food. It's scented things, bubbles, perfumes, flavored chapstick, even those tree airfresheners. There are a lot of curious animals out there as well. I have found quite a few peanut butter jars used as a cache. I have yet to find one the appears to have been chewed by the local wildlife. If someone takes the time to thoroughly clean them, they seem to make a reasonable good cache container. I have found a few peanut butter ones chewed but also normal containers maybe the bears just hungry and anything looks good or he was waiting for a geocacher
  24. I have a Magellan and I don't leave candy why would that have anything to do with it
  25. Lighters and roaches and a joint was in one cache. But ya food is not a good idea seen that a few times wonder why maybe a kid sneaks it in there when the parents aren't looking
