  1. You need to chill out. At this point you are stalking and trolling. Why don't you go out and find some little boxes and leave us alone. It is for the owner to decide. They can delet my log if he wants, its not a big deal. Like I told the CO, if he ever fixes his cache, I will go out and sign the log. At least if you are stalking me, read the log. I don't go out to get numbers on a web page or to be the top geocahcer in PA or the USA or the world; I go out because I think it is fun to find the caches. It is fun. BTW, stop talking about COs like they are the cleaning lady or a servants.
  2. Everyone has some really great..."rants" about their pet peeves. LOL. I personally don't like misleading information in the description. 1.) Container Size mislabled, if it only fits a log it is a micro, not a small. 2.) The terrain mislabled, when I want to go on a hike I will, but if it is a 1 it should be something I can get out of my car and find in a minute. 3.) Difficulty mislabled, if the GPS bounces in the area, D needs to go up. If there is a million places to look, D needs to go up. If there it is a very rare container, like a bolt, the D needs to go up. I try to find geocaches that I am in the mood for the day. Sometimes I feel like a bunch of C&D and sometimes I like hiking, or looking for a challenging one, but if the cache is mislabled it can spoil my day. I know I am not going to find them every time, but I would really like to know what to expect before I drive 30min to get there.
  3. If you place a cache it is your responciblity to maintain that cache. If the owner disappears and does not check their caches and the cahces are muggled, it no ones job but the owner to replace that cache. Log a NA if the owner does not responde to a NM. Then when the cache is archieved, place your own cache there. I think it makes more sense to make your own cache than to do all the work for someone else.
  4. Tell me a neat geocaching story.
  5. It isn't a real find...but it is only one cache. I personally wouldn't make a big deal out of it. You could replace the cache and ask the cacher to sign it again. It all depends on what you want to do. I thought this counted as a find. My sister and me were looking for a regular sized box in a park today. We got to GZ and searched all over. There wasn't much to search, just a few bushes, thin bushes in the middle of a lawn. We kept looking around and around?? How hard could it be to find a regular sized box, 1.5/ 1.5?? I started to look up it the trees and there it was. Apperently a muggle had found (not surpising) the box and had taken the time to get it stuck up in that tree 30 or 40 ft off the ground..... There was no way to get up the tree and no way to get the box down. I counted it as find, because the last three people didn't see it up there, but we did. It is hard to say, your problem is in a gray area.
  6. I don't ask for a hint right away. If I spend more than two times looking for it, I will email the owner first. However, I don't think asing for hints is wrong. Sometimes people just need a little help on the cache. Everyone has a DNF every once in a while and needs a little extra help. Sometimes people can find a 4 dif. rated cache in a minute, sometimes they will spend an hour on a 1 or 2 dif. rated cache. It all depends. Besides Geocaching is not just a fun game, it is community too. Getting help from your community is the natural thing to do right?
  7. I know what you are talking about. However, since I have spent a lot of time in the woods before I started caching, I don't where anything that can't be ripped or dirtied. The worst that happened to me was I had to really strech in my jeans to get a cache, but my jeans didn't have enough streach and ended up ripping. The other thing that happend was I almost ruined my sneaker I use for hiking. We were on a trail and in order to get to the cache we had to walk through a tunnel. It looked a little muddy but not a big deal. As we got further and further in to this tunnel the mud kept getting deeper, it was up past my ankels. It nearly pulled off my shoes and I almost face planted in the mud because the metal on the tunnel had no grip. My sister and me gave up because there was quite a bit more of the tunnel to go. I think we will try from another direction soon. I am sure we will have some more misadventures while geocaching.
  8. That would be perfect. I love night caches, but actually finding one is really hard. It is soo cool walking around the forest in the middle of the night. Really if things like events, mysteries, and Multi all have their Icon, Night caches should have their own too. The different icons is supposed to indicate that there is something special or something you need to do in order to find the cache. For a mystery you solve clues and a multi cache you find the different coordinates untill you find the cache. For a night cache icon it would let everyone know they need to do this cache at night. It really makes the most sense for there to be another icon for night caches.
  9. That seems overly complicated. I read the entire other discusion that you had, but it seemed to me that you will not listen to anyone else's arguments to the contrary. As other users have said NM is not mean the the CO is a bad owner. It means that it is possible that the cache might have a problem, like a cracked container, a full log, a muggled cache, or the cacher was unable to find the cache (they believe it may be missing). None of those thing indicate that the CO is a bad owner. I believe that you are forgeting some very imporatnt things here. The CO may be working and going to school or the might have familly troubles or any number of things that could prevent them from getting out to their caches right away. Maybe they got into a car accedent and have a broken leg, completely preventing them from checking the caches. Personally, I am greatful to the people that place the caches, and I wouldn't want them to put a restriction like this on placing caches, especially because there are so many understandable reasons for that NM. The CO is spending their money to make a cache, then spending their time to place the cache, and giving you the opertunity to find new little boxes. You should be happy. Finally, you don't need to punish all cache owners because of a few irresponcible cache owners. The cache log is there for you to read before you go out and search for the cache. If you see problems in the log, you can chose not to go to that cache. It is your choise whether or not you go to a cache with a NM on it.
  10. Depends how many DNF's and what is written. It it seems like the DNF was related to user error..such as lack of sunlight or short on time to look, we are more likely to take a peek, especially if their are alot of other positive notes.
  11. We found evidence of a squatter in an old barn on state game lands in eastern pa recently. Along with little drug baggies and this note. Alot of gorgeous trails and scenic views in the mountains and valleys around Reading PA..Homeless and drug users are known to go up their alot too. Funny convo with my sister and fellow cacher the other day... Sis: You know people hide things in the woods all the time like dead bodies because noone goes back there. ME: Yeah you have a point. Wow. I wonder if any cachers have ever found one. I bet they have. ME: Oh, hey sis BTW..have you been up to Monocacy Hill lately? We should hide some up there! Brother: Huh? You are going in the woods to hide some dead bodies?!? ME: Noooo! Boxes! Hahaha! ----------------------------------------------------------------- LOLOLOL
  12. Ha. So we have recently gotten into geocaching. Some of the swag is pretty pathetic. I think half a walnut shell, bottle cap and deflated balloon tops our list. Lol Granted, yes, we get by now that the loot is really not where the rewards are in this activity...but the journey getting to the loot! "insert witty cliche here" But we wanted to step our game up a bit.. So we were wondering what kinds of inexpensive loot do people Like to find?? Do people actually like those pathtags or is that a waste of money. We have been handing out cool bumper stickers that say "I went geocaching and all i got was this sticker" Rofl Thanks!
