  1. When I discovered geocaching a year ago I was very excited about such a creative idea! And since then have had much fun discovering the creative ideas that other cachers have come up with... locationless, virtual, moving, etc... as well various containers, themes, hiding places. That variety and the excitement of creative thinking have made it fun. I suspect that the creaters of the site know the great satisfaction from their own creativity. That same satisfaction comes to those with other creative ideas in the sport, and the new facets of the sport have provided a very fun sense of discovery in the rest of us. I applaud the site for fostering such creativity and hope that the PTB don't overlook that appeal to many of us that venture here. ** ** ** **
  2. This may have been answered elsewhere... excuse me if so. Re. Accounts watching our caches or travel bugs, I think it would be great to be able to click that number and see WHO is watching. ** ** ** **
  3. We have used clear plastic 4 lb p-nut butter jars with screw on lids for some of our caches. They can fit most travel bugs and a number of smallish trading items. Our latest cache is in a 2 lb square clear plastic p-nut jar also with a screw on lid. Its a bit larger than the p-nut butter jars and works well. Both offer a clear view of the contents. We sometimes tape the goecaching notice to the inside so it can be read from the outside. The point about food smells lingering is worth considering. Although, we've not yet had any problems in our area of NE Utah where there are plenty of critters. Good washing is surely the key. ** ** ** **
  4. For my Garmin Etrex; once I get a PC interface cable, how does the computer know its hooked up to a GPS? Is there software I also have to buy? I've been reading at Garmin's web site and in my book and there really isn't much help there. Can someone give me a rundown on just what happens with an interface between gps and pc. What software on the PC would let me enter waypoints and then move them to the gps? ** ** ** **

  6. 1. Does anyone know where I can get a cable online to interface with my WIN 95 pc? 2. Does the PC have to have any specific software installed to interface with the GPSr? ** ** ** **

  8. Its 61 years, 3 months and 1 day behind the actual date. Today it says 10-Sep-41. I've checked the book several times and if the answer is there, I'm sure not seeing it. Anyone else have this problem? I'm sure it must be some simple little thing I'm just not finding. Can anyone HELP me? ** ** ** **

  10. Thanks everyone for you help. I'm new at this and really appreciate your input. I decided I had to just "place" the bugs and then "retrieve" them at the same time after leaving my note. The idea came when I picked up 2 bugs 60 miles from my town and both had goals of traveling far from here. I really wanted to give feedback to the original bug owner and also mark their stay here in town. I was lucky enough to have a distinct landmark fairly close to my house and decided that I'd like to have all bugs that visit me get attached for a brief stay at the giant green dinosaur... and get a picture taken on its tail. Here's how it turned out... a bit "posty" by myself, but the key thing is to let the bug's owner, perhaps a young person that would be anxious for news, get some immediate feedback. http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=2551 Thanks again. 11. I want to take pics of bugs at a Virtual Cache and then log their visit. Question is: When logging the visit will I be able to attach the bug to the virtual cache?
