  1. So how can I look up what challenges someone completed? More importantly, how can I see what challenges I completed? (Please don't tell me to click the "challenges" link in my profile that shows "Your Geocaching Challenges" as it only shows "Challenges You've Completed (Last 30 days)". I want to see them all.
  2. Try 1500 or what ever the record is now, mind you it does take a lot of planning and stamina. My record is 65 and that was walking and only took 6 1/2 hours with not much planning.
  3. I was just reflecting and just under a month ago I had 2 FTFs on the same day, they were roughly 140 KM apart as the crow flies. (Secret Playground GC345CW & Flatiron GC33ZDF). We planned on hiking Flatiron and the area and as I was leaving early in the morning Secret PlaygroundSecret Playground was published so as I was only a few blocks away I made the quick grab. It was pure luck but looking back it kinda impresses me, so what was the longest distance between FTFs on the same day that you recorded? I'm waiting for the plane trips, maybe this could be an official record:)
  4. Your iPhone wouldn't work where I cache, I know because my doesn't. You stated you won't convert but who says you have to? I own an iPhone and an Oregon 450 and each have their place where they're better than the other. It's always better to have options.
  5. First to find goes to the first person to find the cache, everyone else is a runner up, there can only be one first, or should everyone that worked on the Apollo 11 mission be credited with co-first man on the moon?
  6. Just over 100 days into my streak I knew I had a full day at work and wouldn't be able to find a cache after so I went out just before midnight to find an easy cache, problem, in my stupidity I found it and logged it 5 minutes before midnight so by the time I went home, re-planned and found another cache and got back home it was 2 am. Made for a long day at work. I truly did enjoy my streak and the above example was the only time it actually felt like work, every other day I did enjoy, but I can't say I'm sad it's over either.
  7. I have an iPhone 4 and an Oregon 450 and quite frankly I couldn't be without both. When I'm out and about the iPhone is great for spur of the moment caching or if my wife takes me somewhere and I have time to kill waiting for her. Also it's great to have if new caches get released near me. On my days off I do a lot of hiking where there is no cell reception most of the time, add to that the risk of dropping a $600 phone onto some rocks or into water and a dedicated GPSr is the only sensible thing to have. As most my hikes are 6 hours+ battery life also come into play. There have been times when I couldn't get a good signal so using both actually helped make the find. Each option has it's pros and cons so which is better depends on how you cache, all I can say is the best is to have both.
  8. The widely shared opinion on this one in my neck of the woods is that if you are at gz and have started looking, and someone in the group finds it, you are co-ftf. I have yet to meet someone in my area who sees it different and I have 145 FTF's. Every person who is looking is eliminating a spot and therefore helping find it. I disagree, you can be co-helping the FTF but only the person that finds it first can be first to find, the rest are 2nd, 3rd, etc. By your theory all the people that worked for NASA on Apollo 11 should be co-first men on the moon as they helped Neil get there but yet there is only one first man on the moon.
  9. Food, water (1/2 litter per expected hour of hiking), multi knife, 2 lighters, first aid kit, solar blankets, bear spray, bear bell, 5 or 6 pens, TP (probably the most used item in my pack), camera, maps, water purification pills, compass, gps, 4-6 extra batteries, extra clothes, zip lock bags, bug spray, hand sanitizer, small towel, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, I think that's it.
  10. I wish I had a picture but it was near Deroche B.C., I passed it all the time on my way to go paragliding, this was about 10 years ago and it read: Discharge of firearms or molesting the geese is strictly prohibited.
  11. I was lucky in the fact that I left the caches near me be and only found one if I needed to. On my days off I'd go hiking or to some far off park to find the caches. Today is the first day of my new streak and I found 2 caches close to home while at my sons soccer practice. As for fun, I found it fun holding up the streak and it got me out of the house, since I started I lost 25 pounds and am in awesome shape, I've done some pretty tough hikes so it's been a good thing and am kinda sad it's broken as I did want to hit a year.
  12. I would have done 367, a leap year +1, that was my goal, but stuff happens, congrats on the year, not an easy thing to do. But it wasn't a leap year! We would have had to have kept going for like 2 full years or something and there weren't enough nearby caches for that. It was a stop now on this cool number thing or have a weird obsession to never quit thing. We skipped one day and then the second day we went and 'found' some caches I hadn't found yet that he had. I'm still impressed, I thought 365 days would be a piece of cake but it go harder and harder every day, some days it was a chore, kudos to you, I will try again. Maybe next leap year:)

  14. challenges must have GPS coordinates where the challenge must be completed or logged, heck you could use the Wherigo setup to log completion as validation. If I can complete a challenge in my bathroom, is it really a challenge?
  15. So, I started caching 141 days ago, found caches on my first 2 days, missed a day and then went on a 138 day geostreak. Today it ends, main reason, 3 days ago I broke my arm; yes, geocaching, slipped down a slope, put my arm out to stop my fall, crack. Sub reasons, Between work, doctors, and earlier and earlier nightfall due to being in Canada my daytime opportunity has seriously diminished. Also after 138 days easily accessible caches are getting to be too far away so even after finding 2 caches after breaking my arm, today I decided to break this streak. My question, if you've broken a long geostreak, why and how long was it? I share your pain, it's not an easy thing to do.
  16. During my first week of geocaching i dropped my iPhone and it slid down a hill stopping an inch short of a pond. At $600 I was not prepared to take that chance again and the next day I bought an Oregon 450. For quick city caching i love the convenience of the iPhone but I prefer hiking to different mountaintops and mostly have no signal so the GPASr is a must. Also if there is any chance of getting my iPhone wet I'll use the GPSr. Sometimes if I'm getting a lot of bounce I'll use both. It's always better to have options.
  17. LOL... same here, logs suddenly started showing now, hope it will last! Hmmm, I'm a premium member and as such shouldn't my logs be fixed first? Mine aren't working:(
  18. Loading Cache Logs... That's all I got for the last 1/2 hour and yes I reloaded and restarted and rebooted. I get this in both Safari and Firefox, no logs show up. If I click View Logbook i get: All Logs (*) Your Logs (*) Your Friends' Logs (*) Decrypt No Logs Found
  19. I was just thinking about electric vehicles yesterday and it got me thinking, just how much damage do we do to generate enough electricity to drive 100 miles and how does that compare to a regular car and a hybrid? Would be interesting to find out.
  20. Let's just ask them to remove the find count from our profiles then. Hmmmmm, how would that go over. The numbers are a part of the game, how much or how little they mean depends on the person and you wanting to change his view is exactly the same as him wanting to change yours.
  21. Now I know where you guys went wrong, you had a door on your car, what a waste of time.
