  1. If you think the website is not correctly categorized your IT team should check this and normally they are able to request a category update. Here you can check the ISS database http://filterdb.iss.net/urlcheck/ But... nost companys do not allow their employies to suft for private use. Be carefull when contacting your IT ;-) If geocaching.com runs special Java or Active-X scripts it's also possible that it's blocked. It's all in the hands of your network admins to do more or less security settings.... Martin
  2. Blocking websites depends of "your" URL blocker software configuration. Your IT team can (hopefully) permit or deny dedicated categories. And depending of the product database it's blocked or not. These databases and the URL category is managed by the software developer. We use the ISS Proventia URL filter and geocaching.com is categorized with "travel". And we permit travel websites :-) and if we would block it I will put geocaching.com to the whitelist ;-D Thank god I'm a network admin! Martin
  3. I got one of my FTF within ca. 23min :-) Revieved the SMS notify, grabbed my stuff, hit the gas and found it easily. Martin
  4. No! The GPS signal in Ireland is blocked by the NSA ;-) http://www.nsa.gov/ But have a lot of fun while drinking some great Balvenie whisky :-) Martin
  5. Very interesting! Also watch out for the "Herkules Staude" / "Giant Hogweed" Latin: "Heracleum mantegazzianum" I used the trunk as a light sword to be a jedi when I was jung :-D And until now I had never a problem with the toxic of it. But please be careful- Wikipedia says... German: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riesen-B%C3%A4renklau Englisch: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heracleum_mantegazzianum Happy hunting, Martin
  6. Let's say there is the team "PPM" (Peter, Paul & Mary)... If they found one of my caches and log it once as PPM - I'm happy :-) If Peter will log it as PPM and Paul will log it as PPM and also Mary will log it as PPM, I (as cache owner) would delete the last two logs. So I don't care how many people will use a "team account" but I would not like that all of them will log individually with the same account! Anyhow.. I know a few "team accounts" but the worsed case never happened to me :-) Martin
  7. ping city.country.world echo reply mendig.germany.world :-)
  8. Yes, GoogleEarth with the Groudspeak KML file is a very good think to find caches in other countrys! I used it when I went to Tunesia and also for my trips to Vienna. Welcome to Germany, Martin
  9. 1st... it's not about the numbers. But I agree with you: 1 account for maybe up to 4 people should be ok; but 25!? But how to control this? In the end... they're geocaching and have fun Martin

    LANGUAGES

Yes, I also see this problem for Germany (opencaching.de, navicache.de). Some friends of mine will not use geocaching.com 'cause it's only in english ':-( So we have now two separate databases here in Germany and it happens very often that a opencaching.de cache is at the same position as a geocaching.com cache :-/ OK, a multilanguage geocaching.com website will not solve the "problem" 100% but the future will show that additional websites maybe will not be used more and more... A 1st step could be to add google translation icons. Martin aka WEINEMA
  11. Sure... Cache name is ok! Example: Search for "Eifel-Biker" Martin
  12. More limitations... less fun. I just checked out Saginaw/MI at GoogleEarth and can't see a very high density of caches. And: If there will be a limitation of hiding fe. max. 3 caches this would be too sad. I would hide additional caches with a new account! A 3 year time limit is also bad idea - so great and wonderfull caches would be gone :-( Happy hunting, keep relaxed, and don't think about more rules, Martin
  13. I would like to set up an "Instanotify Notification" for caches with a specific keyword within a radius regardless of the cache type. In my case I like to get mails of new caches with the keyword "biker" (usually caches for motorbiker contain the word "biker" in our region) :-) At the "hide & seek a cache" website it's possible for manually search, but at the instant notification website it's not :-( Or do I just don't see the feature? Have a nice day, Martin

    About v2

Yes.... It would be interesting to know whats on the v2 feature list. Clear that you can't give us a go-alive date :-) Martin
  15. I'm also looking forward to have this "drop down list" feature! :-) 'cause I travel frequently to Vienna. Martin
  16. Hi all! Few days ago a cacher published a multi cache at opencaching.com at nearly the exact positions like one of mine geocaching.com caches :-/ This was not really a problem for me (and the cache) in this case but I was thinking about what happens the next time when cacher will find wrong micros :-} I've talked to the owner... a kid - not familiar with the english language at all. Two suggestions.... a) other (local) websites should sync with the geocaching.com database. OK, bad idea ;-) geocaching.com should give the feature to change the language of the website. Maybe for the most pobular languages and most popular pages. What do you think about that? Has this been discussed before? Happy caching, Martin
  17. I'm also wondering 'bout the wrong counting of cache founds (Germany) since a few days. Seems to be a global GC.com database/script problem. Martin
  18. I'm also not lucky with my account name and want to change it. I really wondering why I can't change a database variable and the database changes the links to the corresponing tables Martin aka WEINEMA
