  1. Sorry Guys. I wish I would have seen it earlier.
  2. I just saw this on REI website in the "odds & ends" clearance. The price is only for today 7/14, it least that is what it says. Lowrance iFinder Pro Plus GPS - Closeout Deal of the Day 7/14 Create detailed maps, then follow them with this quality GPS. It's loaded with easy-to-use features. Price: $49.93 Compare at: $299.00 You save: 83%
  3. I am now getting the google map error. "The Google Maps API key used on this web site was registered for a different web site. You can generate a new key for this web site at http://www.google.com/apis/maps/." I never got it before. It just started. I am using IE 6.0+ If I take the extra "/" slash out of the URL it works fine.
  4. If you still want a MapQuest map (which is what I still do) you can click on "For online maps... MapQuest" on the cache page and this will open up a MapQuest map in another window. Then you can copy and paste it into a word doc. I use the google maps for the sattelite views mostly. Now I will use the new map feature for routing as I use to use the gc.com maps.
  5. This is nice but I have a couple items/concerns/requests, or maybe I just have not figured it out fully yet. 1. If you are at a cache page and click on the pointer in the map, it brings up the cache map in google maps. This is nice. To go back to the cache page you need to hit "back". Comment 2. When you have the google maps up, showing numerous caches on the maps and listed on the right, you can select a cache from the right hand side. The problem I have here is that some times the words are obscured by the google map. Why is this? 3. After selecting (#2 above) how can you clear the cache info so you have the large google map again with no cache info behind it? 4. Is there a way to have the cache listing on the right show the ones that you have found?
  6. Why would you not buy a discontinued model. People are buying discontinued items all the time. Every year when the new models of cars come out, last years models have been discontinued. There is nothing wrong with a discontinued model. You just need to be worried about support of older (discontinued) models. With Garmin, sending in older models has not been a problem. They have been know to replace the older model with a newer one if they parts are not available.
  7. Thank you very much. I will be giving the yellow to my 8 year old cousin. She has really enjoyed geocache with me and this way she can geocache with her dad. It will be a good beginning unit for her.
  8. I just received an older etrex yellow (free). I noticed that it had an old version of software on the unit. I connected to garmin.com and downloaded the latest Garmin webupdater s/w. Then I ran the software and it loaded s/w version 2.14 on the yellow. I noticed on the website that there were two versions available Unit Software eTrex Ver. 2.14 as of Jun 14, 2002 eTrex/eTrex Camo/eTrex Summit Ver. 3.30 as of Apr 19, 2005 Compatible with versions: 3.00 or greater I am assuming that the older yellows can only be updated to version 2.14 and that the newer version of the yellow should have version 3.30. Is this correct? Is the main difference between the 2 yellow models WAAS enabling? Thanks for all the help.
  9. My wife's fifth grade class released a TB by the name of Little D. Little D is the DARE Lion. The class released it after their Graduation from the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. Little D's goal is to travel all over having his picture taken with DARE vehicles and let cachers know what the DARE program is about. He has been photographed a few times so far.
  10. We will be heading to the Sonoma Valley this spring and plan on doing some caching while out here. Does anyone know of or have a list/route/bookmarks of a group of caches that we could look for while out wine tasting? Thanks in advance.
  11. was invoiced and paid for the 2 I ordered, Thanks!
  12. As a TB owner, I like when my TBs are released within a couple weeks of being found. One of our TBs was released by my wife's fifth grade class and they look every week to see if it has moved. You can always email the TB owner and ask them your question.
  13. Anyone have an idea when the coins will ship? I bought 2 and am waiting to see them in person.
  14. I cache in Naperville when I am visiting my family.
  15. Found it, Nevermind. Looking forward to the coin.
  16. Where can we purchase these coins from?
  17. That is what I thought, just wasn't sure. Thanks
  18. I received my two coins today. VERY NICE!!! How do we activate the coins?
  19. Go to your TB page and in the upper right corner "Print bug sheet". Click on it and it opens a new window.
  20. I am also from Missouri and would like to order 2 as well.
  21. The TBs that my wife's 5th grade class let loose, show 0 miles and the kids are starting to think that Geocaching TBs are "stupid" if they don't show miles or the maps.
  22. Boy I am stupid. I just did the PQ and was able to EASILY pull the gpx file into MapSource.
  23. I have been downloading the waypoints and loading them onto my GPSr and then clicking on "receive from device" to pull all my waypoints into Mapsource (US Topo). Then I can see what waypoints I have on my GPS and move around (zoom in, out) and then print a map of the area that I want. I have not been able to pull them directly into Mapsource from a (loc or gpx) file.
  24. Maybe the hole with a goal attached like a TB tag is the way to go.
  25. Puppies, Where are you getting the coin slabs?
