  1. The new maps are very nice except the 15 mile max "feature". I like to google map my way through various trips I make and the 15 mile max "feature" doesn't allow me to do a lot of the overview searching I used to be able to do.
  2. I am looking for a site that has POIs. I am looking to see if anyone has created a POI set for the Brithish Virgin Islands, specifically beaches. Can anyone help me out or point me in the correct direction? Thanks, JC_Geo
  3. THANKS for the help guys! I have my home and other personal WPs set with a different symbol on my other GPSr, but this one I picked up cheap and could not remember how to do a bulk delete. ----------- robertlipe, I checked the pinned topic and read over the titles quickly and did not see the Legend listed, so I posted the question. Go ahead and delete this thread if you want to and/or need the space.
  4. Just because it is not listed on the TSA list of things that can't be taken on or is listed as acceptable, does not mean that it will be allowed through security. All TSAs (at the airports) are different. It really depends on how they perceive the item in question. That said, I only had one issue with taking it through the security. All I had to do was tell them what it was and I even showed them the GEOCACHING information sheet. They said no problem after that. They were more curious than anything. I have actuall been on a couple planes and the stewards had a GPS on that they were showing the passengers. No problems.
  5. I just picked up a Legend and am trying to figure if there is a way to delete all the waypoints at once, instead of one by one. Does anyone have an idea how to do this?
  6. Has anyone else noticed this? I marked the event as having attended a week and a half ago.
  7. How long until the event clears off your account page for the "I plan to attend (in the next 30 days)" notification?
  8. I just figured out the hint part. %smart=6 %con1%typ1%dif1%ter1 This is nice. I like that. Thanks for the help.
  9. I am trying to get the geocache hints to display in my note field of my 60CSx. I am using GSAK to open GPX files and to upload to my 60CSx. I can not remember what needs to be changed to have the hints put into the notes field. Any help?
  10. What cache are you looking at?
  11. Got it guys. It is working now. They were small maps 1.5 meg and I currently only have the 64 meg card. I am trying to get used to the 60CSx. It is much different than my old Legend. Thanks again.
  12. OK, I was able to get the SD card to show up as a drive (USB Mass Storage). I deleted what was there, but it was small. I tried to reload the maps and it goes through all the same steps and then it goes up to 8% transfer/convert on the GPSr. Any other ideas?
  13. Peter, That makes perfect sense. However, when I open up "my computer" it does not show an extra drive (microSD). I have it hooked up by USB. Any ideas? Jeff
  14. I am loading US Topo Mapsource maps to my 60CSx and it appears to transfer correctly, but when I look at the GPS all the maps did not transfer. After selecting "send to device" in Mapsource, it creates the map database and goes through the data transfer. Once it is complete, the GPSr shows "Transfer Complete" and then goes into the status % bar and only goes up to 3% before being done. Can my microSD card be full? If so, how do you empty it?

    New Site Bugs

The second map does not display for me. All that I see is a flower type symbol that goes round and round. I am using IE. I get a Done, but with errors message.
  16. The thing that I notice is that the box with the first map, coords, download info is to large to fit next to the navigation, attributes and bookmarks list, thus giving the cache page a staggered look. I have tried looking at the cache pages on two different sized monitors, thinking that it would correct itself, but it appears this way on both.
  17. Based on that what would you want me to hide? What type of cache? Traditional What size would it be? Large What type of container do you want me to hide? Heavily camo'd 5 gallon Bucket with a screw on/off lid. What difficulty and terrain rating should I make it? 2/3 Where do I hide it? The woods, by the lake, in the city, in small park, out in the desert? Hide it in a wooded area with a 1.5 mile or so hike along a trail that follows a year round flowing stream. What kind of swag would you want in it? Fill it up with items from store (outdoor related)
  18. Well I guess it is time to add 2 of my bugs Bug #1 Frigid Freddy says he is in the hands of a cacher from Inland Empire, California. I have sent a number of emails that have all gone unanswered. Frigid Freddy page Bug #2 Road Trip says it is in the hands of a cacher from Buffalo, New York. I have sent a number of emails that have all gone unanswered. Road Trip page You never know, they may show up somewhere.
  19. I just downloaded some MapSource US Topo maps to my 60CSx. When I am zoomed out I can see the US Topo map limits on the display. Depending on how far zoomed out I am, it looks like a checkerboard. Any idea if these map limits can be turned off so it appears seamless?
  20. I have taken my 04 Xterra SE 4x4 almost everywhere. It has no problems on fire roads, powerline roads, low water crossings and getting me to work or the store. I have used it for caching, camping, hauling my mountain bikes and everyday driving.
  21. You can log the find as "discovered". You will need the number off the TB tag or coin to do this. Personally, I prefer someone to pick up my TB/coin and move it, instead of discovering it. You do not need to trade any thing to pick up the TB/coin.
  22. I am trying to renew my membership as well and am confused. The web page states to "enter your new subscription number from PayPal" where do I get this? Renewing your membership? Your membership is currently in good standing. If you are renewing your membership, enter your new subscription number from PayPal and click "renew"
  23. Malia, She was a begining geocacher with, I think 20 finds. I have run into her a couple times since. Once in uniform and once on the hunt.
  24. Here is my LOE December 2, 2005 While out geocaching for "Wave to the Engineer" cache WP#GCK8NH, I had my first encounter with the local law enforcement. This cache appeared to be a very easy drive up and grab. The park was empty this morning and I was able to drive right up to the cache location. I searched inside and out at the logical location with no luck. As I was getting ready to leave, I had a visit from the local law enforcement. She wanted to know what I was doing. I told here geocaching, which she knew about. She asked where the cache was hidden and what size cache I was looking for. I showed her the printout and she proceeded to go back to her car, with the printout. She reached around in the car for something and pulls out...... A GARMIN VISTA. Quickly she puts in the coords and says, "maybe your Legend is off". SO we both point to the exact location, do some more searching and still have no luck locating it. I guess we both DNFd that cache.
