In this challenge you have to have found a cache at at least 20 world natural or cultural heritage sites in 5 countries

Being a German cacher, this would be much easier for you than for others who aren't so close to four other countries.

Instead of a new souvenir, can't you just make it a challenge cache?

  2. If I follow step 3 of the given instructions I get this.  I want to keep my recurring memebership so I can keep the legacy pricing, but I don't know how to do that with a gift card per the instructions.

Note that in the past, when I've had a finalist film in the GIFF, GCHQ just extends the premium membership account on the backend without me doing anything.

  3. Hi all, I received a free one year premium membership subscription for having a finalist film in this year's GIFF.  In order to apply it, it looks like I need to stop my recurring membership, which will make my premium membership go from $30/yr to $40/yr.

Is there a way to apply this gift card without losing my legacy premium membership pricing?

    From the website https://coord.info/prepaid

Add a gift card to your recurring Premium membership account

You must stop your recurring membership before you apply a gift card. The expiration date will extend for an additional year.

    1. In your Settings, select Account
    2. Select Edit Membership.
    3. Select Stop Recurring Membership to cancel the auto-renew feature of your membership.
    4. Select Renew Membership.
    5. Enter the Gift Membership Number "XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXX" into the Enter Gift or Promo Code field.
    6. Select Apply.
    7. Select Review Order.

I am lucky enough to be hosting a Geocaching International Film Festival event (GIFF) tomorrow. I was told the showreel would be emailed to me before the event and I haven't seen it yet. I'm getting a bit nervous I'll have nothing to show when it starts.
Has anyone else received their showreel for events they are hosting yet?

    Cheers,

    CheekyBrit

Did you register it as an official film festival?  I don't see that your event is on the official bookmark list.

Edit: also it looks like the list of films being shown at your event are from the 2013 event

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the EO had to change the time of the event, and did so in an "Announcement" log.  For the life of me, I cannot find the email that normally comes when an EO makes an announcement.  Does that only get sent to people who logged "WA" logs, rather than everyone who logged anything?  Or did I accidentally delete an email?.

Announcements go to those who logged a Will Attend and also those who have the event on their watchlist.  It's okay to log a Will Attend with a comment saying that you're only 30% sure you'll be able to attend, at least it gives the EO an idea who is thinking about attending.

Cant count on cacher being able to "catch the cache"?  Idea was that it would make it challenging. Lots of misses

I applaud you for creating a cache that is above and beyond just plain ordinary.  I'm just saying that you have to apply human nature to the challenge you presented.

    1) Hopefully people will work as intended and enjoy the experience and write up a nice log and give the cache a favorite point.

    2) Others might not read the description, find the container on the ground, think the log is missing, and "helpfully" add a log sheet to that container, with others following and signing that log

    3) Others might find the challenge "too hard" and resort to other means to retrieve the cache, such as some methods mentioned above, climbing up, etc.

And so on.  I hope the cache goes well and you enjoy how it turns out.

My cache https://coord.info/GC5GV3G was a magnetic container at the top of a 15 foot light pole.  I encouraged spoiler photos because people were creative in how they retrieved the cache and replaced it.  I had a retrieval method in mind but I enjoyed seeing what others came up with.  Many of the photos and logs are fun.

  7. One thing I've learned as a CO is that people will find their own ways of getting to a cache, not necessarily the way you planned for them to get to the cache.  I'd write-up in the description that the materials used to retrieve the cache are on site and to let you know if there's an issue with the materials.  That's probably the most you can do.  From your description I'd worry that I might not be able to land the magnet on the cache from the ground, so maybe I'd do something else, like find a large branch, put the magnet on the end, and try to stick the magnet to the cache or something.

  8. If it was a high tree climbing cache and someone went up and offered to sign my name because I was too scared to climb, I personally would decline.  In that case, the point of the experience is the tree climb and I didn't participate in that.  I'm fine with letting a cache go unfound.

  9. That's good to know there's no link in the deletion log, I assumed there was.

I have two virtual caches that each require a photo.  I very patiently work with those who log a find with no photo to help them add a photo, especially those who message me a photo without putting it in the log.  I message them a link to their log and explain to them how to add the photo.  While my cache listings say that non-compliant logs will be deleted within 24 hours, I give at least a week for the logs to get put in compliance.  But eventually I just delete the log if the logger doesn't follow through.  I assumed the deletion log had a link it in.  But thankfully I always send them the link to the log so I know they have it, as it should be viewable even after deletion with the link.  I'm happy for them to re-log the cache with a photo later and I want them to have access to what they write originally.
