  1. Rampage seems to be a correct assessment for grossi's weekend! Are there any caches left on that island? Is there still an island there? Congratulations, grossi, on your 1100 milestone! Team Maccabee
  2. Congrats, Wienerdogs! Wow!! At this rate, I should get to where you are now in................17 years!
  3. I saw this WA plate (N47W122) on a car going west on NE 85th St. in Seattle as I was getting on the freeway this morning. So, does anyone know if this is a geocacher's car? Whose is it? And did anyone ever get TNLNSL after it became available recently? Team Maccabee
  4. Thanks, everyone! I wouldn't have been able to do it without grossi, though. She's a highly motivating caching partner for 14 hours of caching, especially on that cursed Puzzle#6 -- SNAFU! and FUBAR!, indeed! Now I just have to catch up with my logs, while not having home internet access... Team Maccabee
  5. I have one finished. Send me an email and I'll send it to you. I don't know how to post it in my reply. Great job, rvrhippy!! Here it is for everyone to enjoy:
  6. Would someone help me with a geocaching purple heart? A cacher in our area got a bit hurt while hunting one of my caches and continued to finish the multi, even with quite a bit of blood sprayed about. I figure that a geocaching G (or, if allowed, a Signal the frog) on a Puple Heart medal (see image below). Would someone be able to help on this? Team Maccabee
  7. Mine current one is below (severely abridged) -- I stole the idea from somewhere or someone. It is a wonderful comment on users of forums... Team Maccabee
  8. My geo-name comes from the Maccabees, a Jewish band of warriors that were an integral part of the Hannukah story. Dreidels being a traditional gambling (of chocolate) game played during Hanukkah, I thought they would make a great sig item. I am just about to start placing these trackable geo-dreidels and sig card in some caches. They take a while to make, so I'm just going to put them in my favorite caches for now. Team Maccabee
  9. Don't forget to log in your virtual version 1 Mount10bike coin before you post it.... My idea for a multi: Stick a geocaching.com sticker on the neighbor's beer fridge in his garage; that's the final. WP1 is outside next to the garage; it's a garage-door opener... Team Maccabee
  10. Now be careful. If do something like this the cache police will come and get you. You'll be caching behind bars. Rather appropriate for this Contraband Cache... Team Maccabee
  11. Not quite the same situation -- The cache owner grabbed the coin that was placed explicitly for the cache owner, and then moved the other coin on as tb. In my case, I was considering grabbing a nice swag item that was/will be traded into the cache. I would trade for it just like any other cacher. But maybe I should leave it there as incentive to get other cachers over there. Hmmm.... and no I'm not going to tell before it actually gets placed in the cache. Team Maccabee
  12. Well, to confess, I have prior knowledge of particularly yummy item of contraband swag that will be placed in my Contraband Cache soon, and I am so tempted.... Of course, I would trade it out, but part of me thinks that I should leave it to draw others. I'm torn! Team Maccabee
  13. Here's a question for my geocaching community (esp. Seattle, but also NW in general): is it considered bad form to go after something particularly enticing that's placed in one of my caches, or should I just keep my paws off the swag in my cache and leave them for my customers? And for the record, I'm considering swag, not sig items or tb's. Team Maccabee
  14. Sorry, this GeoCities site is currently unavailable. The GeoCities web site you were trying to view has temporarily exceeded its data transfer limit. Please try again later. Are you the site owner? Avoid service interruptions in the future by increasing your data transfer limit! Find out how.
  15. How about... Have you had your smilie today? Give yourself a smilie! Team Maccabee
  16. Yeah, I think I saw one of those... on my kids' SpyKids movie. It was so full of features that there wasn't enough room for the clock, so it couldn't tell time... Team Maccabee
  17. fauxSteve has proven himself to be a true TUS cacher by willing to be honored and burdened by the TUS FTF Prize!! He was quickest on the draw for finding the final for A Simple Multi, But a Long Drive, inching ahead of markta, who was trying to get seconds on the Prize... I heard from the present past bearer of the Prize that it may need an upgrade in carrying capacity. Is this really true, fauxSteve? For the rest of you eager to hold this honor, I'm sure that fauxSteve is even now devising a devious, clever cache that will live in infamy (or at least be fun) in which to get rid of the TUS FTF Prize. Happy hunting!! Team Maccabee
  18. Since the new name is significant to you and and haven't found or hidden too many caches, and you like the sig item, of course, go for it! I changed my name very early on and haven't regretted it. The avatar came later and the sig item is just about to come out, but they both relate directly to my name... So, what is it? Team Maccabee
  19. Way to go, OBE, JAE Family, and Team Jac'd on your milestones!! A special Mazel Tov for OBE on his FTF for #1000!! Team Maccabee
  20. Not knowing if something is actually a sig item can be a problem. There are a lot of cachers who do not personalize their sig item. I know Ladybug Kids use a glass ladybug that is trackable at a different site, but they're from Alaska. Why don't you look at gc.com and see if there are others with Ladybug in their names from your area? I'm trying to finish my sig item design, a geocaching dreidel, but it's proving more difficult than I thought, even with my self-acknowledged artistic deficiencies. Team Maccabee
  21. GO HAWKS! Panthers are gettin' their a** kicked! Sorry just too excited. Hey the fat lady hasn't began singing yet. Although I think I hear her humming. El Diablo Nahh... she's doing her warm-up scales now and the audience is being seated... Team Maccabee
  22. El D, you are a very generous geocacher and a pillar of our sport! You're doing a wonderful thing here. That said, it's a shame that you have to support a football team that's going to lose today. I feel your pain... But you're still a great guy! Team Maccabee GO SEAHAWKS!!
  23. i guess nobody really knows. it all boils down to "is a lighter still a lighter, if it dont light?" i guess truely it is. after all, a flashlight is still a flashlight if it doesnt light. . . . . I guess it depends on your definition of "is"... If you want to get rid of them in a cache, why don't you create little coupons with a picture of the lighter on it and your contact info (i.e. email)? Then put the the coupons in those caches or create your own cache and put them all in (one per person). Heck, these could be your signature item (as long as supplies last, that is...). You could even make a cache called the Contraband cache where people can trade coupons of items that are normally contraband in the caches (provided that they're actually legal items and not family-inappropriate, such as porn...), such as lighters, knives, food, etc. I'm sure people would get creative. Team Maccabee
  24. You actually got flack for your name and cache? When I first saw it in a forum post (ironically during the holidays) it actually caught my eye and I looked up your hide, I thought the puzzle was pretty cool and if I'm ever in/near Seattle (very very far from me so not likely) I may check it out. Did this person argue something stupid like you have to be Jewish to do the cache? If that were true, there'd never be questions about Jewish history or holidays on shows like Jeopardy (heck, one time they had that as a category there). No, quite the opposite. The issue was more about secular dogma vs. people who have a strong religious identity. It's actually a conflict within parts of the Jewish community, much like in other ethnic/religious communities. Read the early logs of my cache for a taste of it. Although, some other cachers and I were discussing the hypothetical creation of a puzzle using gematriya (assigning number values to hebrew letters and words). Given the puzzle-mania and burnout in Seattle right now, I wouldn't do it... I heard that one cacher did try to use hebrew letters as numbers for solving the puzzle on my cache (that would give me a headache...). Team Maccabee
