I have a more concerning issue now! The maps I just transfered are not appearing on the GPS map data screen. No new roads or info is appearing. What should I do?

I just got my 1gb card for my Vista HCX and am (as I am typing this) installing maps on it from metroguide. I am not sure of the version though but at least 1999 or older. I was thinking about getting a newer version to get updated road info. I have a few questions. #1: Is there any free maps that I can put on it? #2: I was reading about Topo maps and heard they had roads. I thought Topo maps only had land features. Is this true and should I just get topo maps? I rarely use the "points of interest" feature and am mainly concerned with having the most up-to-date maps. #3: I am confused by the version numbers on the metroguide software. What is the corrolation between number and year? #4: Does garmin update the road info when they put out a new version? Thanks for all of the help!

Ahh the Memories was plowed under in an effort to prevent the spread of a wildfire . Hopefully the cache still exists and it will be retrieved some day!

What makes the 60 CSX so much more? Is it really that much better internally?

My dad is interested in buying a Garmin Nuvi 680. I was telling him about what GPS to get and he said that I could use the nuvi. Is this practical and has it ever been done before?

I have an eMap right now and am use to the front controls, so the 60 has the advantage. BUT the HCX does everthing else except bigger screen and quad antenna. Anyone have a problem with the interface of the vista or it it user friendly?

I am off to college and my Dad does not want me taking his garmin eMap with him. Probably a good thing because it gives me an excuse to upgrade! I am leaning toward the new Vista HCX, but am wondering the positive differences between the 60 series and the Vista HCX. Is it worth the extra $120 for the CSX?
