  1. o.K., I found the solution while trying to fix another long standing issue with the website. I found this link https://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=331351 It turns out that this is the same issue I am having. I disabled "HTTPS Everywhere" and was able to save corrected coordinates. Thanks, DJL
  2. Yes, I do use No Script, but no indication that it block anything. I used "Temporarily Allow All" on the GC website. And, I was using No Script when I entered corrected coordinates in the past. But, good point anyway. I will disable NS and see what happens. FYI, what are we supposed to do with your little sig items we find in caches? Keep, move or just go find? Thanks, DJL O.k. Tried disabling NS, but still no luck. Thanks, DJL

  4. I can enter corrected coordinates, but when I click "Submit" nothing happens. The dialog does not clear and the coordinates are not updated. I have done it in the past, but not for a while now. Thanks, DJL
  5. I have both the official app and the c:geo app. I started with the official app and used it until I needed something more. The official app is easy to use, but you must have a data connection. c:geo is more complicated, but can be used completely offline. Maps and pq's can be stored on the phone so that you don't need a data connection while out caching. Using GSAK with c:geo its very powerful. Note that c:geo is not in good standing with Groundspeak as it violates the GS terms of service. I justify using it by knowing that I already paid for the official app. I'm on Android.
  6. +1 Bring them back! And let them be adopted. We just lost one from 2002.
  7. http://ftp.mapsforge.org/maps/
  8. Just use one of the free or lower cost apps.
  9. I'm having the same issue with FF 19.0.2 Win7 64 bit.
  10. The picture looks more like a kids tree fort or a hunting blind. Are you sure someone lives there? In San Jose, CA we have homeless encampments along rivers and creeks. These places are usually very nasty and you don't want to cache there.
  11. Agree, it should be a parametric search like a pocket query.
  12. What is the "backdoor method"? Would be nice if non-premium member wife and kids could log PM caches they find with me.
  13. These guys just like a chance to use their "toys". It ensures that they get their funding from the Department of Homeland Security.
  14. Reviewer wouldn't have any way if knowing the nature of the hide.
  15. I think both situations are okay. A reviewer would really have to stretch the commonly accepted meaning of "ground" to think that rearranging some pine needles (i.e., another form of leaves) constitutes "breaking ground."
  16. Is there an official definition of "buried"? Sounds simple, but consider this: A cache under a bush covered with leaves - buried, but not with dirt/soil. A floor of pine needles 4 inches thick, cache container placed in a hole dug into the needles and then covered with more pine needles. Would you consider this buried? Does it violate: 1.1 (3) - Guideline 1.1. Fundamental Placement Guidelines 3. Geocaches are never buried. If one has to dig or break ground to hide or to find the cache, then the cache is not permitted.
  17. Don't forget that these are YOUR roads and parks, if YOU want caching to continue in these areas then YOU MUST make yourself heard. If the politicians won't listen then get them booted out of office!
  18. I have the same issue with FF12. Refreshing the page fixes it.
  19. O.k., I see the unlock now, but I did not get a code and I used an Android phone to complete the cartridge. So, I would appreciate the unlock code - Thank you. The cartridge I completed is "Momotaro and the Ogre". I was looking for RSS for the forum as I usually only read forum posts via RSS. Otherwise I may not log into the forum for weeks or months. Thanks again,
  20. Where the heck do I log a completed WIG? I completed J2B2, but I don't know where to log it. I see some WIG's on GC.com, but not this one. How do I subscribe to the WIG via RSS? Thanks,
  21. I find many things on the site difficult/not intuitive to find. So, I keep a long list of bookmarks to pages I use on the site. Not ideal, but it works.
  22. I would suggest that you find caches until you no longer have to ask this question. With some experience you will know good hides from bad. I see that you have 43 hides in two weeks, so you are well on your way. Do at least 100 finds and 6 months of caches of different size/D/T before placing a cache. Also, remember this is (should be) a commitment to maintain the cache for many years.
  23. 1st Point: This post demonstrates why it would be better to have a minimum finds and time caching requirement. Also, here is another cache to demonstrate my point: cache GC1PEDM ,placed April 2009 by a cacher with 16 finds, none since Jan 2010, has had "Needs maintenance" since March 2011 though cache is in good shape. Since it is in good shape it does not warrant a NA. Again, these examples are not meant to offend or embarrass anyone - they are just examples. 2nd: The suggestion to have a minimum number of finds and time is not meant to be an absolute solution - just an improvement. It's like a lock on a door, the lock will keep a vast majority out of the room, but there are always those individuals that no lock or alarm will deter. 3rd: It would be good if GS could put caches that are in danger of being archived up for adoption. Give the original owner a chance to fix the cache, if it's not attended to then put it up for adoption (with notifications/PQ search). The current requirement that the CO put it up for adoption doesn't work so well in the case the owner has passed away ;>) This suggestion may also keep some older, nostalgic, unique caches active.
  24. PQ's do have some limitations. 1.) You only get the last 5 logs. This can be overcome using GSAK. But, there is still a limitation of getting logs for 200 caches per hour-roughly speaking. I'm not sure if there is a limit to the number of logs per cache (20,30 or no limit?) I'm in the process of writing some of my own GSAK macros and figuring this out. 2.) You do not get graphics (pictures). I don't think there is a way to bring them into GSAK and then export to GPSr. This is the next thing I want to figure out.
  25. That's right - no offline maps with GC Android app.
