  1. Many thanks for the responses and I am glad to hear that the snakes will be hibernating at this time of year. It looks as if the walk and the level of ascent will not be beyond me.
  2. I am over from the UK visiting San Diego for a week on business at the end of the month. It looks as if I will be staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Golf Resort San Diego on Penasquitos Drive and will have a day free to recover from the jet lag. The nearby Black Mountain trails look interesting. Can any locals advise on what the terrain is like, if snakes are an issue if I ventured up there caching? Simon
  3. Why not add these pictures "as Spoilers" on the cache page?
  4. I did 25 caches yesterday and no sign of a trackable in any cache - let alone a Jeep! I think trackables are slowly becoming a thing of the past.
  5. Try contacting Hywel (Eclectic Penguin), a South Wales geocacher that now lives in the Cork area. I am sure he will advise on the best caches in South West Ireland.
  6. I would also be interested in feedback from a Reviewer as to whether this cache of mine - long since archived would meet current guidance/rules. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=c1f15472-84d8-4f4a-94f8-4c043f218694 I have been thinking of resurrecting it.
  7. I keep meaning to attempt this one: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=aa623a46-621f-4789-b262-4226d12de00b Ref: GC1WEKG
  8. Perhaps it was a Paralympic Training camp!
  9. There is a South Wales Facebook page if you are interested. Where in South Wales are you based?
  10. Having said that I did get talked into doing my first challenge whilst at the NW Mega - had my picture taken with a Lackey!
  11. I would welcome another "Challenge-type" Event in a suitable location but perhaps every two years to allow the organisers adequate time to plan it.
  12. Perhaps this is a reflect to the "success" of challenges!
  13. I am in full agreement - it is not the numbers but the quality of the cache that keeps me interested. In many cases some of the Series that have been set up with a 35mm film pot every 512 feet is often a "good walk spoilt".

  15. I agree with most of the comments made here regarding Facebook. Although I am a member of the South Wales FB Group and the GAGB Group on Facebook I am not a regular Facebook user. Consequently I find that it is difficult to pick up on threads when you may only log on infrequently. It might work for those who spend most of their time on-line and check postings hourly (or so it seems) but these Forums (and the now defunct South Wales Forum) were idea for those of us that dip in infrequently.
  16. The username is The Brat Pack with spaces I don't have access to passwords but you can use the forgotten password option if you have no luck I will delete the account and you can try registering again . Mike Thanks for your help - it might be worth deleting the Account and I can start from scratch since I have had no joy again eralier this evening. Simon The Brat Pack
  17. Still struggling - repeatedly getting an error message "You have specified an incorrect username. Please check your username and try again. If you continue to have problems please contact the Board Administrator." I have tried both e-mail address and geocaching name as the username and have tried a password reset without joy. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
  18. Thanks - found it. Facebook postings seem so ephemeral - if you don't go on for a few days you can miss what is happening. I have tried to use it over the past two days but am having an issue logging on to the new Forum. I have e-mailed the Administrator to see what the issue is. Could just be me being dumb!
  19. It seems that the South Wales Geocaching Forum is back live again since some time at the beginning of the month. No big fanfare on the South Wales Geocaching Facebook site though, so postings have been limited so far. Postings are further limited by delays in approving membership.
  20. The Brat Pack's Golden State Geocoin - moved yesterday in the Czech Republic - 41,236.4miles
  21. 111 views and no response might suggest the answer is No!
