  1. I'm looking at helping a non-profit place some geocaches on their 70 acres of land. I would like to see how other non-profits have done it, specifically look at the geocache page write ups. Interested in the info they posted, the layout, etc. I've looked over the GC.com rules and regs, asked our local reviewer for tips, and looked for non-profits who have done it close to me (none, just gov't park departments). Anyone out there know of a non-profit doing this? Got a GC #? Thanks!
  2. As of Monday night, there are 33 coins left folks. Still time to get yours! Thanks!
  3. FYI, Update on the NeoGeo coins. Out of the 225 available, there are now less than 60 coins left, as of Friday morning. Something I failed to enter in the orginal post, NO money is being profited from the sale of this coin. Nobody in NeoGeo is making a dime off this sale. Price of the coin is the price to have it minted. Thank you all.
  4. Northeast Ohio NeoGeo Cachers A small but ACTIVE group! Finally got around to making a coin for ourselves. This NeoGeo Regular Edition coin is a 1.5" and made of Antique Bronze with color. There are 225 coins in the regular edition, 1/2 are already sold! These coins are GC trackable (no icon) and are consecutively numbered. Priced affordably at only $6.50 each Order coin here!
  5. Greetings from Ohio, I'm the hiking viking. An active cacher who enjoys helping out TB's along with their journey. Just finished reading all the past entries and I wish to help out the ITBRL. I didn't see anyone listed in Ohio so I figured that I'd sign up!
  6. GeoLoe, Hey! Myself and BryanKF8G (both from Akron) are going caching this Sunday, leaving between 7am-8am. We're meeting up with some eastsiders and going to do some caching up around Mentor. We'll be returning @ 3pm. Post here or send me an email if you can come, I could pick you up in Kent. I have my backup GPS that you can use for the day. Later! Dan, the hiking viking
  7. My cache log Found a gun just recently in a public park frequented by kids. Wasn't loaded thankfully. Dan the hiking viking Akron, Ohio
  8. Snicker... You got me Janet. Unfortunately, Georgia cachers have their fair share of FTF commandos as well. No luck getting a FTF while I was down there. I had internet problems with my laptop in our hotel room so I never could get online and check for new caches while down there. Couldn't log my caches until I got home. That was a major pita. 9. I'll be glad to be your guide and driver! I've done a number of cache runs, led one today after our CITO in fact! **SNIP** D'oh! Dag gum! I didn't get a chance to come back to the forums and read the last posts on my thread. Thanks AlabamaRambler for the offer, I would have took you up on that IF I would have saw your post. Maybe next time! Going to Nashville in May for my next caching vacation. I've got a some contacts there that I need to look up. Really looking forward going there. Nashville will be for the quality caches, not a power cache run. Cheers! Dan the hiking viking Akron, Ohio
  10. U.S. Navy Active duty from 1987 to 1997, 9 years total. Seperated as an AW1/E-6 (Air Warfare Systems Operator). Naval Aircrewman aboard the mighty P-3C Orion patrol plane. Was an acoustic sonar operator (beartrap), hunting soviet subs during the cold war. Remember that guy 'Jonesy' in the movie 'Hunt for Red October'? That's what I did, except he was on a sub, I flew around looking for subs. Cold war ended, soviet subs went home, our budget was cut. Nothing for us to do! P-3C Orion community lost half of their strength. Time for me to get out. After my initial training in Orlando, Pensacola, then Memphis, was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida until I got out. Served with sqaudrons: VP-56 Dragons, 88-91, now disestablished VP-49 Woodpeckers, 91-94, now disestablished VP-30 Pro's nest, 94-97(training squadron) Deployed overseas 4 times. On detachments too many times to count. All over Europe, South America, and North America. Travel was the best part! Great times! Dan the hiking viking
  11. Excellent! Getting some really great tips so far. Thanks a bunch ! As far as the few replies about slowing down, smell the roses, enjoy each cache... Forget it! I do that at home with my wife, 5yr old son, and often the dog, all the time!! Which explains why we only have 270 finds in nearly 2 years of caching. Those 270 were nearly all great family time caches, ones to cherish. This trip to Atlanta is about smileys and to see what I'm made of! See how well my eyes and brain have been trained to spot caches and to see how fast I can find them! Like it was mentioned, when I get back to my hotel room at night, I want to fall 'dead' on my bed, exhausted. Want the day to be a blur! And I want to have 100+ finds for the day A guide would be awesome. Not likely though since I'll be caching during the week. This is strictly a solo adventure! Thanks again and keep those tips coming! Dan, the hiking viking Akron, Ohio
  12. Greetings! I come to the 'tree' of knowledge looking for advice, tips, tricks, thoughts, etc. I'm going on a dedicated caching trip to Atlanta next week and I wish to collect as many finds as I can. What's the best way to do this? I humbly ask you to share your secrets and lessons learned. I'm going armed with: *Garmin 60c pre-loaded with 500 waypoints and my auto-route mapping software *Laptop with GSAK & MapSource, with about 2200 caches listed *PDA with cachemate and the same 2200 caches listed. I'm shooting for just traditional caches, from micro to large, rated less than 2/2, don't want to hang myself up. This trip isn't about quality, just quantity! While out caching, I'll be by myself, in rental car, with just my cache bag, pda, and GPS. Nothing left in the car except my drinks/snacks. So what do you guys/gals got for me! Don't hold back anything, I've got an open mind! Thanks in advance! Dan the hiking viking Akron, Ohio
  13. I can't seem to search for locationless caches by keyword. Any reason why? Thanks! the hiking viking.
