Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Occasionally stuff can get out of sync with automatic updates and doing this often fixes issues like this that are only affecting one person.

YAY!! Thank-you Barefootjeff! Finally someone with a real answer that works!! Thank-you Thank-you!!

As a workaround, try using the website to send your answers to the owner of the Virtual cache, using either the Message Center or Email.  Tip:  There's a "Message This Owner" link right below the cache title at the top of the cache's webpage.

From my phone, I can’t message from the website. It reverts to the app. I have to message from my home computer.

  3. Also, If I'm working off someone's public list, and the puzzle was solved today, The icon is not updating for corrected coordinates even after the page is refreshed. This issue seems to have arisen since about 10pm CT last night.

  4. During the shutdown, while I can't go out and geocache, I've been working to solve puzzles. I've been selecting (searching) a location somewhere in the world and filtering that list for (a) puzzle caches only and (b) show original coordinates. Periodically, as I've solved a bunch of puzzles, I've refreshed the search list and  all the puzzles that I've solved have been removed leaving only the unsolved puzzles on the list. Today (Sunday 4/19/20), this process is not longer working and caches clearly marked as having corrected coordinates are staying on the list. Even if I run a brand new list, all the puzzles that I've solved today (with corrected coordinates) are still showing up in the search list. Help!

  5. What happened to the audit log on the cache page for caches that I've hidden. There used to be a link toward the top of the page that allowed me to see who has viewed the cache page. Where did it go?

  6. I'd like to see the maps in the new app improved. The maps in the old PAID geocaching were infinitely superior especially for urban caching. For example, if you look to navigate to a cache in Central Park, NYC in the paid app, you see the trails that lead through the park. But they aren't on the map to the new geocaching app. This is going to be devastating when Groundspeak stops supporting the paid app. In addition, you can't zoom in as close on the new app. I don't understand how something as basic as the maps took such a huge regressive step as Groundspeak is seeking to evolve the app.

  7. 1. Do you use lists? Why or why not?

I use lists all the time. Whether its planning for a big caching trip like GeoWoodstock or keeping track of challenge requirements, I'm always making and editing my bookmark lists.

    2. How do you currently use lists? Why do you put caches on lists? Are there list related tasks that are tough to do?

    See above

    3. How would you like to use lists? Is there functionality that is missing that would improve your experience? (Feel free to think outside current offerings. ie: collaborate on it with a friend, download to your GPS, etc)

I would love to be able to map a bookmark list to see where all the caches are located. This would be really great when planning a multi-state excursion when I've planned to get certain caches along the route. Another really great feature would be the ability to download a bookmark list directly to my GPS. As it is now I use a 3rd party provider (project-gc) to import my book mark lists and then download them in bulk to my GPS. Finally, it would be great to be able to order the caches on a bookmark list they way I want then rather than alphabetically.

    4. The name of a bookmark automatically defaults to the cache name when you create a bookmark. Have you ever changed the name of a bookmark in one of your lists? Why did you feel the need to give it a name other than the cache name? How frequently do you change the names of bookmarks? Please list out the reasons you would change the name of bookmarks. Please see the picture below for reference.

I've never changed or felt the need to change the default name of a geocache.

    5. In creating a bookmark, how do you use 'comments' differently or the same as the 'bookmark name'?

I use the comments to describe the list in greater detail. Because I have a lot of lists going at any one time, I might add some some notes to help keep me focused on the list goal. For example, I've started planning my trip to GeoWoodstock this year, I know I want to hit 8 or 9 states while I'm out there. Within each state I want to focus on certain types of caches. Obviously, this planning process is going to take a tremendous amount of time to do right, so I can use the Comments to keep track of what states I've done, which types of caches I've covered, etc.

  8. 1) What do you like most about challenge caches?

I haven't done many challenge caches, but the ones I have done required the cacher to think outside the box about their previous finds. For example, one by me required the searcher to make phobias out of their cache finds. It was fun.

    2) What do you not like about challenge caches?

I dislike that they are lumped together with puzzle or mystery caches. I would like to see them get their own icon on the map so that I can tell at a glance what I'm really looking at.

    3) What would you like to see changed about challenge caches?

As noted above, I'd like to see a distinct challenge icon on the map rather than grouping challenge caches together with mystery caches.

    4) If you could describe your favorite challenge cache type, what would it be?

I've looked at a lot of different types of challenges and I can't say that I have a particular favorite. I do like ones that make you think outside the box about your cache finds and the ones that are like a "bonus" to a cache series in a particular area.

    5) What types of challenge caches do you avoid?

No specific type. If I don't want to do it, I just skip it.

  9. I'm still pretty new to this whole geocaching thing, and I'm trying to learn the lingo. In New York City, where I've done most of my caching to date, I keep seeing references to this or that cache being "Dastardly". The only thing I've been able to suss out so far is that all "Dastardly" caches are puzzle/mystery caches. BUT it appears that not all puzzle caches are dastardly. Having found a few of the "Dastardlies", I do know that they are not the same as an evil cache.

    So.....here are my questions.

    1) What makes a puzzle cache a "Dastardly" cache?

    2) Is this a NYC thing? Though I've not cached in many places outside of NYC, I have checked out a bunch of puzzle caches around the country and internationally, but have not noticed any of them being called "Dastardly".
