  1. Thanks for that Chris and the PDF is most helpful. I am a great believer in not re-inventing the wheel so the info is just what I was looking for. I have already automated GSAK to MM on the PC with a similar set of exports (in macros) so it wont be too difficult to make up a set for the Mio as well. Now just waiting for the delivery tomorrow am!
  2. Just about to take delivery of a new shiny P560 for work and guess that I can use it for caching as well! Looking about the forums I am guessing that all I need to do is export caches from GSAK then add the following software to the device Cachemate, Beeline, GPSTuner, GPSgate, Memory Map Have I missed anything? i.e. does anyone have any other suggestions or recommendations?
  3. Just tried to access the GAGB website and looks like it has been hacked. Is any one else experiencing this?
  4. Does anyone else understand this? As far as I can see the UK is the largest of all the Groundspeak forums with almost 200,000 posts and clearly Brian's suspicions are unfounded as the UK forum has never been 'overrun' with advertising.
  5. Before you run the macro connect up your TomTom to the PC and it should link up with a drive letter showing in the list of available drives (just like it would if you connected a flash drive, camera etc) Open up this drive and look for the subdirectory which holds the maps as this is where you need to export the .ov2 and .bmp files. Typically the directory name is the same as the map i.e. my own TT connects up as a K: drive and Iexport the files to K:\United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland Hope this helps
  6. Shamless Plug:- If you want to get your caches to the tom tom from GSAK then suggest you download my macro fromthe GSAK library. It will copy over the caches and child waypoints along wth all the correct graphics. After that you would just set up the alerts on the tomtom as if it was any other poi. click here to get the latest version
  7. I believe the latest count is 133 caches for the event!
  8. Posted in error as I now see that a decision has been made.
  9. In case you cant find :- Download GSAK Macro http://gsak.net/board/index.php?act=Attach...st&id=45538 View forum thread http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=6378
  10. Sounds like a great idea and look forward to attending. Harrogate sounds like an excellent choice and don't think you will have any difficulty in getting to 500!
  11. Thanks, mine was behind the door once I got home yesterday
  12. My point exactly! just wish someone would advise us of what is to happen to this even if its not what everyone wants to hear.
  13. Just wish that the site designers would respond as to when its likely when they will turn it back to how everyone wants it as its rediculus that we have to resort to creating scripts to add basic functionality back in!
  14. Yes that would be most useful but judging from other threads, I would not hold your breath till its been done as its highly unlikely that the powers that be will make any changes since they did not think of it themselves. Just look at the the threads re the recent changes re the old map format, cache page title etc. Loads of views/post but no meaningful response or changes. The thing that annoys me is that the changes come out of the blue then when the end users like us raise an issue its completely ignored. Surely Groundspeak should always aim to respond in the forums to its users concerns but clearly this is not the case. Good luck with trying to make it better but don't be disappointed when nothing happens!
  15. Yes please re-instate this. The small maps that repalce it are meaning less and having all the travels on a single image is much better.
  16. Its now been 5 days since this was changed and from what I can see everyone wants the same thing i.e. to go back to the original or to have the cache name second. (either would be a vast improvement on what we now have) Does anyone know if there is a formal procedure to communicate this to the people who changed it in the first place or do we have to start the process with all of our the local reviewers? As this part of the forum is apparently lead by Jeremy & Moun10Bike perhaps they would like to comment.
  17. PLEASE IGNORE THIS POST AS, SINCE IT WAS POSTED, THE TEXT HAS UNFORTUNATLY GONE BACK TO AN UNHELPFULL SETTING Just noticed that the title is now in the format of (cache code) Cache Name created by Cacher Many thanks to all at Groundspeak for listening to the above posts and for making the further changes. Its very much appreciated.
  18. Yes, having the cache name second would be so much better than all the 'A Traditional Cache in Pennsylvania, United States called' stuff. It is great that you put the cache code first so perhaps you could also move the cache name as well since it appears that this is what everyone wants. Personally I'd endorse Whilstler & co's suggestion of GC12345 - Clever Cache by SuperCacher (Pennsylvania, United States) .
  19. Thanks for listening and for undertaking to go back to what worked extremely well in the past.
  20. I also see that if you use Internet Explorer Version 7 and you open up 5 caches then you can no longer work out which tab is for which cache as the cache page title has been changed to something like Geocache GCQWERT in United Kingdom called Find this if you can by Irate Cacher..." and so all that is displayed on each tab is Geocache GC...
  21. I also see that the old style map that was displayed on the TB pages is not working just now. Lets hope this is only temporary as I (and I know others) use this on their TB pages to show the TB's travels
  22. I know its subjective but I see that the title of the cache page (as seen at the top of Internet Explorer has now changed to something like "Geocache GCQWERT in United Kingdom called What the cacher hid by Big Wolf" It all looks very pretty but try opening up 5 cache pages in IE7 and all you get on the tab is Geocache. Not exactly very helpful and lets face it I know its a geocache and what country I am in so why bother as it just wastes more ink when I print out the pages......
  23. Thanks to everyone who contributed this is excellent info. Now off to add a macro button to gsak
