  1. I have a 60C and I am willing to wait until the prices drop and the bugs are found in the new x series before I purchase one. On a side note, I do use a Sirf III GPSr in my car and while it stays tucked in the dash cd-mount it has never done me wrong in any condition yet.
  2. everything proposed looks good to me..I also use TomTom on my ppc so that feature would be nice...I can beta test if you wish. I have a Dell x50v with win2003m
  3. I use a holux sirf III bluetooth unit with my PPC and I can't complain at all other than maybe if you need to charge either/both units you need a splitter for your cig lighter. Reception is wonderful for the holux unit and I usually keep it in the cd recess under my stereo unit. I use TomTom for software and there is no real noticeable lag. If there was anyways, there are enough reminders that a turn is coming up with TomTom that you shouldn't miss it anyways. Using the unit for hiking or caching with beeline is ok. I will stick with my 60C for that.
  4. I too have received the OK from Amazon and have already received my refund. It's because of this policy through Amazon that I will try most anything that seems too good to be true.
  5. I go with my wife when I can but I have odd days off here and there. SO, I tend to get borred and end up caching if it is nice outside.
  6. no word on my claim yet but I doubt there will be any problem [crosses fingers]
  7. nice to see you did well...the caches are usually in an obvious spot and looking in those places first helps a lot.
  8. I will vouche for TD being lousy with rebates. I wouldn't be surprised if they "lost" yours or claimed you filed wrong.
  9. I filed for my claim as well. I am not afraid to jump on these deals with gaurantees like amazons cause I know I can get my money back with no problem with the seller doesn't pull through.
  10. I am willing to bet that next year there will be handheld units with the usual standard rugged features that we have now for geocaching but also including this new technology. Again, I would love to see something similar to the 60c but with this SiRFstarIII chip, expandable memory, plus other fun gadgets.
  11. I have the Holux GPSlim 236 GPSr to use with my pda in the car and it works pretty good. It sits in the glovebox most of the time and has no problems keeping a signal. When I compare it side by side with my 60C though, the 60C is more accurate by a few feet in the wide open but the Holux holds pretty steady under heavy tree cover when the 60C is jumping all over. It will be pretty cool if Garmin releases a handheld like the 60C but with the SiRF III chip and expandable memory.
  12. I use this same receiver in the car. I have yet to try it out in the woods as I dont want to drop my pda. On the other hand, I have the gpsr in the glove box and it does wonderful! I guess I will have to put it up against my 60c.
  13. cjb60190 if you use gpxsonar you can just throw the gpx file on your axim and load it up with no need to convert anything or change any settings Do be rough you can go to your computer (with your axim plugged in and synced) click on mobile devices (your axim) and drag/drop the gpx file on your removable memory or on the internal memory and you are all set. Open up gpxsonar and click on the gpx file and you will get the whole list of caches. Click on a cache to get more details, descriptions, hints, logs, etc.
  14. I would also like to know. I have Navigator 5.0 and am looking to update to 5.1 but I like the feature on Mapopolis with the overlay of the caches on the maps...
  15. City Select7 would probably work well for most of your needs. What exactly are you going to use it for?
  16. Sorry if this has been asked already but I was getting tired after reading a few pages. I have a few databases in GSAK and I am rerun one of the PQ for an existing database so it would include new caches and multicaches. How do I load the new gpx file without making duplicates of the other caches? I can delete all the caches in that database and reload the new PQ but then will I lose my logs and founds etc? Thanks!
  17. I have until the 16th before I can file. It would be nice though to actually get it in the mail rather than fooling around with claims.
  18. I use gpxsonar with my x50v and have not had any problems at all with it. I use my CF card for it and if you load a big gpx file it will take a little bit to load but you get the cache page like you see it here with the coords, pics, hints, and last few logs left. You can also write your field notes then and there and when you get home throw them in GSAK (if you use that program).
  19. I was being lazy and cut one of my x50v plastic shields to fit my 60c...works just fine for me!
  20. I have a bluetooth GPSr with the sirf chip in it and I leave it in my glove box. I never have any problems losing a connection. I look forward to these new handhelds but I did just upgrade to a 60C so it sucks that I may "have" to upgrade again so soon.
  21. I really enjoy my Wolverines for any type of hiking. For the real cold days I have a pair of Rocky Mountain Exp that have 1200g of good warmth!
  22. I had a feeling that this was a scam but I have never had a problem with anything CS related with Amazon so I will have to wait until the 23rd to file my claim as well. It is always fun jumping on these wagons!!!
  23. I have the same thing as neo so I will let you guys know as well.
  24. Dell Axim x50v with TomTom for the car and cache notes
  25. I dont mind the risks through places like amazon because of their gaurantee. That being said, I just bought one from this guy.
