  1. Congrats to Messe on 900... That 901st seems to be playing "Hard To Find" G
  2. Contact would be Teasel, who can be emailed via Geocaching.com's profile. G
  3. Yes please! Having done 300+ caches in 12 months, it does get a bit difficult to remember which cache had a stile to cross, and if we went the recommended route to the cache ! But it's an excellent way to "Do our bit", the fact "we" (GUK cachers) have added 30% to the rated caches in TWO days, well done!
  4. It's not just wheelchair access for disabled, it can mean that the cacher can't walk too far. Surely the more people that rate a cache, the better the averaged rating, which will give a clearer picture of any difficulties the cache poses? G (If you mean you've already rated the cache, and the site is asking you to rate it again -maybe thats a bug that needs to be fixed?!)
  5. Nice one! 5 per page is enough, 12 caches in a day seems to be about our maximum so far. 2 or 3 pages to do a days caching suits me. G
  6. Started to fill them in on the Hanicaching site, but lapsed... This way makes it SO much easier! Slowly working our way through the caches we've visited. (Any way of putting more that 2 up at a time on the page? If you have a caching "numbers" session, it seems to take ages to go through the Handicaching descriptions 2 at a time...) G
  7. Depends on the type of puzzle to be solved! And that it's marked correctly as a puzzle. There a cache marked as a multi, that actually needs a fair bit of work on Google to find the first cache, to then find the co-ords for the next couple of caches... Yes, it's a three part multi, BUT, you have to Google to get the first co-ords. We've done 12 puzzle caches and enjoyed them all. G
  8. As the above have said. Would only add, are the DNF's from experienced cachers, or from cachers with only a few finds? G edit. Just checked, maybe the Difficulty needs to be higher?! GCYCWT also has no clue, but gets found!
  9. 12 months, 290 caches we've met: 1 Obnoxoius family (who we never got to know who they were, and they never logged the cache) 1 Family who had already found a cache we were after (we walked past and left them to re-hide it, spoke to them as they were leaving -but didn't let on we were cachers- they found out as we had to leave a note on the cache page to say they had left their coat at the cache!) 1 Father of a cacher (10 year old at home, so we never met him) and 20 minutes behind JollyJax and Ashaaria on the Alpha Quest -Y Bonus cache and several caches -where people have put a time on the log- we've been half an hour or so behind, but no sign of anyone...
  10. Did read in the forums (somewhere, can't remember where) that there's a cacher in America that sends out TB's that are drawings with the TB tracking number on. He's lost a lot of TB's (rough area!) in the past so now sends out laminated drawings that can be tracked with the TB number. If/when they go missing, he waits a while, then sends out another 'new' drawing TB. Possibly a laminated picture of the coin, with a note to say the original went missing? G
  11. When we cache in an area, I tend to load the GPX or a LOC file into GPS visulizer http://www.gpsvisualizer.com http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map?form=google (for the Google map) to work out a route between caches. May help to see a cycle friendly route... G
  12. Just a thought. Maybe someone has the TB, but leaving it logged in the event means there is no "Nag" from the system after two weeks... I'd be tempted to do this (leave TB/coin logged in the event) but now think I'd put a note on the TB page/and or let the owner know -If I wasn't planning to cache immediatly after the event. G
  13. 0.6 from home. Wasn't our first "official" find, that was 3.3 miles from home. However... the 0.6 was our "first find" to see if we liked this Geocaching lark.
  14. We've never been asked that question... Does that mean we look too scary to speak to? G
  15. If you go above the greenkeeper to the hotel boss, I would still say contact the greenkeeper -if you get permission- as he and his team will be doing the 'maintenance' around your cache. At least they will know that it's there and what it is, rather that rubbish. G
  16. An indication of what the setter "thinks" is correct D/T, with finders being able to have some say in changing it? (Other than just a note on your log.)
  17. If the coin/TB has a mission, do you really want to take it away, if it's against its mission quest? G edit. Thats provideing there's a mission attached. If it has no mission attached, you have no idea!
  18. All places where a cache is -or can be- hidden! G
  19. AOL. Makes Bill Gates, and Microsoft, sound like a nice person/company to know...
