  1. Very cool toy! I like how it actually shows the route width. It's working great! Well done, everyone. :-)
  2. Thinking that they did things go wrong on purpose is something that doesn't make sense. Maybe... Well maybe they tried to set things up in a good way. For example, the revamped Cache Along a Route would make things easier for those planning trips, like to GW7. It's not working 100%. Things did not go as planned. That happens. I'm sure they're working HARD to get it running. Too bad that some are always hoping that something will fail so that they can vent rants in the forums. *sigh*
  3. The US Air Force explains the whole scenario: Read more at http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/arti...e_concerns.html
  4. Ok everyone, settle down: Read more at http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/arti...e_concerns.html
  6. Missed a few when we started, but since then, we log every single one of them. They're gathered in this public bookmark list, present at every cache we dnf'ed: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...56-829db90c56a9
  7. I'm just hoping it becomes a success. Sorry. I can see advantages in taking the kids outside. Sorry if they're going to do it with your coordinates and logging the visits in your logbooks. Sorry that I'm not complying with all catastrophic visions about kids having fun with an affordable GPS, that yes, it has limitations and eventually some work to be finished. A kid that, eventually, finds geocaching fun it will "drag" parents to the activity and I'm pretty sure that they won't blindly look at the arrow. Eventually, they'll move to another gps and a somewhat active membership here.
  8. A page full of animated icons is a visual nightmare. Glad they stopped it.
  9. Definitely, a nice and simple idea! Way to go, Traildad. Looking forward to see this in the near future.
  10. The McGPS doesn't have descriptions. That's one of the points some are making. My point wasn't for users of Geomate Jr. It was for all the others.
  11. Great post! Totally agree. Some are making a REALLY big deal out of this. So, next time, Groundspeak should speak to each one of you about your views over the next products - When in fact, it's not needed, as it is clearly written in TOU. Go caching. Follow the arrow - and read the description.
  12. For those claiming "opt-out" from the database because someone is making a buck out of your work (your words, not mine), I suggest asking a percentage - if not the total - of the advertising revenue of the banners at your cache pages. That will show them! *sigh*
  13. Just because you and some don't upload more than 1 picture per month it doesn't mean it's not a nice to have feature. As you can see by the OP profile, they have plenty of pictures taken. Such as we, and such as many geocachers. It would be a nice feature, yes. I also believe that something like that is probably on the works by Groundspeak.
Testem. :-) Ora vejam a minha situação aqui: http://live.geocaching.com/maps.php?action...follow,cid,2033
  19. First thing: A Colorado or an Oregon or any other GPS outdoor unit is built to run outdoors. So, it can handle a fall, some pressure over the screen, water, etc. A Pocket PC, with an exception of a very few units, is not designed for the field. You can run almost anything in a Pocket PC. There are plenty of navigation software you can run. Paperless caching is also a reality. There are many choices around. Pocket PC has also wi-fi or mobile broadband which can also be a good thing. I have a pocket pc and it works great. Still, I'd be better with one of those units (such as the CO or OR). I have to take extra care when I take mine unit out in woods.
  22. Nature pics! Great! We had a "bath" of Nature a couple of weeks ago, in Azores, Portugal. In the island of São Miguel. We got 47 of the 49 caches. All of them GREAT! (even that urban nano). Here's some pictures taken there: View to the Atlantic Ocean The Lagoa das Sete Cidades, two-colored lagoon Lagoa das Furnas, a lagoon of an inactive crater of a vulcano. And plenty more... Check our gallery. We've seen here GREAT pictures. Well done, everyone!
  23. As your "geosense" improves you'll stop looking at the arrow: "Feel the force, obsidianspider!" Usually, I turn the GPSr off when I'm close to 10feet or so. If I can't find it, I move away, turn it on and make a new approach. If I still can't find, I usually go home and cry.
