Love the coin! Thanks so much! When I first saw the envelope my heart sunk because the flap of the envelope was torn and my first thought was the coin had fallen out. Luckily it was taped into the card and arrived safely . 4. It looks like Michigan law may not allow us to do a raffle without going through a bunch of hoops. The required license would take a minimum of 8 weeks to get too. I have to check into it more but I'll be more disappointed if we can't do it that way.
  5. That's the way I am leaning right now personally. I need to get some of the questions answered first before I could set it up.
  6. I will also find out if the collection includes the special editions that the club minted from time to time. At this moment I assume that it doesn't include those. This individual did get two regular coins editions each month and he is donating one of those sets. If someone joined in the very beginning and didn't miss a month they would have a complete set but the owners don't know of anyone else. They may have themselves but they also trade and sell privately. To clarify I am talking about the specific Geocoin Club coins. The ones that you had to have a subscription to get and not any of the other coins minted by the Geocoinstore. The initial coins were minted in smaller quantities especially the first one and even back then were hard to get if you didn't jump right in on the club bandwagon when it first started. An individual is donating the set to help raise money for MIGO. Activating them and taking them to events is not practical for us and not what the donator wants us to do. I've had suggestions to raffle off the entire set which might work too. Selling individual coins also isn't practical. I personally would like to see the set stay intact but the other MIGO officers will also have a say in how this donation is handled.
  7. Those are excellent questions Nevada Nick. As far as I know they were issued every month since it started. The first ones were very low mint numbers and are hard to find. I know some of them have sold for upwards of $100 each but not so much lately. I know that there was a special coin that was given when you joined. I'm not sure how long that lasted and I need to find out if that coin is also a part of the package too. I will find out about the pathtags. I didn't think to ask about those.
  8. The Michigan Geocaching Organization (MIGO) will be receiving a donation for our 2017 Winter Social event of a complete set of Geocoinclub coins from the first coin issued in August 2005 to the one issued this month. I've been told they are all unactivated. The guys at GCC said it is the only complete set they know of. I'd like suggestions on how we should sell these coins. Would anyone be interested in the complete set? If so how much would be a good price for them? Or maybe they could be sold by the year. That would obviously break up the set but would also be more manageable cost wise for potential buyers. Your thoughts on how to handle this sale would be greatly appreciated! MIGO is a non profit organization but because of the way the non profit is set up we can't issue receipts for tax deduction purposes.

  17. I don't think we have misunderstood. We are hoping that you can RESUBMIT your 935 finds. The idea is to get you out of this ditch as painlessly as possible. After that, we can deal/discuss the gc.com problem. It is our impression that you were unable to resubmit. IF you still have the files on your unit, you can resubmit by unchecking the box on the field notes page that ignores caches prior to a specific date ("Ignore logs before..."). If you do NOT still have the geocache_visits.txt file on your unit to resubmit them, we're trying to find a solution to that far more important problem first, potentially using the alternate *.xml file that is created of your field notes. Ah yes. Thanks for the great clarification! No one had addressed the question about why they disappeared online. I hadn't thought about the xml file and I'm pretty sure I didn't delete that one. I have been out of town and am looking for the cord I need for the unit. Then I need to figure out how to do it in GSAK or GPS Babel since I've never tried it before and rarely use GSAK for anything. If what I need to do is in a later version of GSAK I may be out of luck there too. I very much appreciate all the help in that regard too.
  18. Nope I didn't delete both of them on the unit so I will see if I can recover the files that way. I rarely use GSAK so I may have a learning curve. LOL Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I;d still like to know why they vanished from the site though.
  19. I think ALL of you have misunderstood me and the problem. I'm not talking about my unit. I understand about deleting from there. I'm talking about ON the GC.COM website. I uploaded 935 field notes and they are ALL gone from there. They just vanished. If they were online I wouldn't have the problem. AND I had a lot of online field notes before this happened and they vanished too. I emailed Groundspeak and haven't received any reply.
  20. There are utilities called "recovery software" that can find and restore deleted files. The deleted data often is still there, just not "indexed", so Windows doesn't see it. There's a lot of recovery software, and some is free. I bought "Data Rescue PC" and have used it a few times. With that I've been able to recover lost files, including most of the files on a computer hard drive that had crashed and lost its entire index. All you need to do is recover the file called "geocache_visits.txt", which should not be a big deal for any recovery software. This of course may only work if you haven't saved new field notes in the meantime. Backup as much of the GPSr's files as you wish, before trying anything. Thanks for the info but that didn't work for me. I meant can they be recovered from the Groundspeak files/server or whereever they were stored there. They vanished there under my profile and I did not hit bulk delete. I did delete the file from my unit but not the online field notes.
  21. Last night I uploaded my field notes -- all 935 of them and then deleted the file on my Montana. This morning I checked the online field notes and it says there aren't any! I've lost all 935! I have uploaded field notes many times in the past and never had this happen. I deleted the file on my unit and not bulk deleted online. Is there a way that they can be restored so I can actually log my finds? I did two power trails so I probably know about half on those caches but the rest are a blur and some are quite old. Thanks for any input. If they're gone then they are gone but if there is a way.........
  22. I was going to reply with something similar to what Droo posted, but with your reply to his post you have me confused what you are really asking. The coin owner doesn't assign the tracking number or the TB# to a coin. The tracking number is put on when the coin is minted and the associated TB# is determined by Groundspeak. The average coin owner has no control over those two numbers.
  23. I have 10 geocoins that I am adopting. The owner sent the requests and I started to adopt them this morning. In the email I was sent, it says "Check out the trackable" and then gives the name of the coin. But when I click on accept and then view my new listing it was a completely different coin than the email said it would be. In one case the owner didn't even own the coin that I ended up adopting! In two others the link went to an archived event. I think I was finally able to adopt all 10 coins but I still have one that should never have been able to adopt since he didn't own it in the first place. I sent as adoption request to the correct owner for that one. There is a bug in the adoption system somewhere.
  24. Yes it is a geocoin. Some cachers got together and had these made for the Midwest Geobash that year. Several female cachers had ducks made that year for the Bash too. They are non trackable but definitely geocoins. The nickname should tell whose version this was. I don't see the 7 letter nickname in your post though. I you list that I can maybe tell you the version. It's not trackable so there isn't anything to worry about posting that. You found some pretty cool swag actually. Since it is non trackable you can keep it or drop it in another cache or give it away -- basically anything you would like to do with it. But since it is essentially swag you should trade for it. At times when I have found something and didn't realize it was swag I have dropped off something in the next ccche I found as a trade item if I can't go back to where I found the item.
