  1. A lot of the time I find myself in the same position. My dad's company GPS devices are set to use UTM because they use UTM in the mining business, and I don't want to change the format because I'll probably forget to change it back and inconvenience the next person who uses the unit. When I hide a cache, I transfer the coordinates to my computer and change the coordinate format in MapSource to get them in latitude/longitude. It's an extra step, but I'm not having a meltdown in the forums about it. I've noticed that people on these forums are very sensitive to mentions of UTM. Last year I mentioned that one of the reasons I avoided puzzle caches (besides not being able to solve a single one) is because I use UTM and the puzzles do not. Someone immediately told me that it was my choice to use UTM and it wasn't anyone's fault that I couldn't do puzzles.
  2. I got the same error when I tried. I didn't really want to link my Facebook account that badly anyways so I didn't bother posting a bug report.
  3. So that he can update his finds everyday?
  4. I think what the OP really wants is a tool to generate cache pages for printing only. Someone hosting an event or party now has to input the details into a non-active cache submission and print the preview, or make their own pages in Word or InDesign. Having a tool to do this would really help a lot of people hosting private parties with temporary caches.
  5. I don't get it. Police cars park in front of police stations?
  6. I'd need a higher res photo to tell, but the two lighter rectangles make it look like a light could've been there before. Or were those from how the cache was attached?
  7. Well played. But why is the "A" in your name the only underscored part, and why is only part of the subject line for the images underscored and blue? Nicely done, but back to Photoshop for you! (on... don't forget to remove the cursor in the last log) Because I edited the page directly and took a screenshot instead of Photoshopping it. That's why the cursor shows up in the last log and there are red lines under some words. I'll bet she is.
  8. The touchpad on my Dell Latitude used to randomly zoom pages in and out until I went into the settings and disabled something. You might want to make sure you don't have some "feature" turned on to zoom pages.
  9. That sounds like a good name for some sort of puzzle cache now.
  10. I've always meant to suggest this but figured it had already been suggested. "Needs Maintenance" should be changed to "Needs Owner Attention" to keep the names uniform.
  11. Did you read the opening post? Or any replys to this thread? Wildlife, people who steal caches, dump illegally, poach plants, and more. How do you even have time to be on these forums anyway? With all the pervert cameras recording you without your consent all day and most of them being small and attached to ceilings, smashing them all must be quite a time consuming endeavor.
  12. How about a thumbs up or down system? This way poor logs can also be rated as such.
  13. Unless your reviewer says otherwise, email them a link to the unactivated page. I think most reviewers would not want these caches cluttering up the queue. You can also show your support for a modified cache submission process designed especially for situations like this. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=295198
  14. Asking for puzzle cache help in the forums is bad form and against the-- oops, you're looking for help creating a puzzle. On the page of the unpublished cache, click Upload Images. After that, it's just like uploading your profile picture.
  15. I read your post through a few times and still don't quite understand the problem. Does vendor mean printer? I can't imagine patronizing the same print shop as someone else would be shameful.
  16. Don't be giving the FTF racers any ideas now
  17. There's a cache in my area which was disabled in December 2010 with a log from the CO saying it was muggled. Five months later there was a slew of cachers who posted Found It logs, so the cache obviously wasn't missing. The CO wasn't active anymore so I logged a NA to inform the reviewer and they reenabled the cache. You can't adopt a cache if the owner isn't around to adopt it to you. Once the cache deteriorates to the point where it is archivable, log a NA and wait for the reviewer to archive the cache, then retrieve and dispose of the remnants, place your own cache there, and submit it as a new cache.
  18. At least it doesn't say "403 -- The server understood the request but is refusing to fulfill it" the way Twitter does. The Twitter servers are such jerks.
  19. Someone can already do that with disabled listings. From the discussion, it sounds like many people would prefer to be given the option of publishing the cache automatically upon review or publishing it themselves after review.
  20. Once a username is verified (by clicking on the link in the verification email), it cannot be taken by another member no matter what. If the name had been registered but never verified (by the link in the email) then someone at Groundspeak would be able to give it to you. I remember someone mentioning how to add a hidden Unicode character to the end of your name to separate it from the existing name, but I can't find that topic. Maybe they'll post it here.
  21. That wouldn't have anything to do with it. It's an issue with the API.
  22. So... that means the hider has to visit the cache site twice. You have to find the correct coordinates in order for the reviewer to actually review it. Then if it passes, you have to go and actually place the cache. How is that more streamlined? The hider can still have the cache in place the first time it is reviewed and publish it immediately after it passes.
  23. With 783473 members registered, the members list can get a little... long. To keep members from getting overwhelmed, the members list is not available.
  24. What are they going to do if you contact them again? Refuse to publish the cache?
