  1. YEAH!!! Now that's the ultimate ATV.
  2. I'll have to put my radio shack Metal detector in the truck. I almost never use it and it works pretty good. I doubt I'll lug it around to find a cache, It'll probably be a last resort before calling DNF.
  3. I think a Land Rover Discovery would be cool, with all the racks, bars, and lights I could get on it. And a snorkel, would probably never use it but it would be cool. Geocaching stickers would be on it, but they would match the truck color. A Hummer would also be cool, but that's to much truck, coulen't get it down a one lane road.
  4. I posted DNF for caches I thought needed SBA. I figured I was out of state and would give them a chance to fix it before getting the reviewer involved. I put them on watchlist, nothing yet. It is annoying to go to a cache area to find you can't hunt it. The owner needs to do their duty and disable, or if necessary archive caches that they can't maintain.
  5. I saw it today, it was cool seeing the Geocachers favorite unit on TV. Even though I don't have a 60c. If I ever get the chance to try a 60cs, I'll probably take it.
  6. Did it get close to a magnet or other Electromagnetic source. I've heard of it but never seen it.
  7. I think this thread might be more interesting if you had to guess what the other geocacher was like, and then see if your close. But that would be another thread, but feel free to post it, I don't care if someone steals my idea. I'm in my late teens, male, GPS nut for two years. I'm a student pilot and fly 2 seat Cessna's. I enjoy camping, Kayaking, hunting & fishing, riding my 3-wheeler, and anything outdoors. I've never met another geocacher, but I think I've got a couple friends convinced. Never been to an event, but am thinking about going to one.
  8. I've tried urban caches, I just don't like them that well. There are too many people around, the caches aren't there half the time cause of muggles, and most are micros. I like more rual caches, and regular size caches, I also like micros in an interesting place. I like caching out in the country cause there is not as much traffic and muggles to deal with.
  9. NW 1932.4mi from your home coordinates. Dang It!!!
  10. Hey, A pilot! A moderator may move this thread to GPS section. Have you looked at the Garmin GPSMAP 96C Aviation unit, that might be along the lines your looking for. (depends if you want a unit you can use in the plane as well) As for your cycle, a yoke mount should work great on the handlebars. If you want road routing, go Garmin or Magellan, Lowrance doesn't offer it at this time. I've heard a lot of compliments on the Garmin E-Trex series. Magellan has a good reputation for holding a signal in tree cover. Others that post may be more specific on models and features. Welcome to Geocaching and the Forums.
  11. Your not going to get many functions with a GO2, I've never seen one, but according to the description it's just a basic unit. At $99, be glad you even have a basemap. If you want more features and performance you'll have to pay for it, just consider what you want and do some homework on GPS units. Good luck, and welcome to the forums. Hope you find some good advice/ suggestions here. <EDIT><it's only one click, but why do I always forget to spellcheck>
  12. A couple of days ago I turned down 2 caches for Posted signs, I logged DNF and said there were Posted signs and either they needed to be retrieved, determined that they were indeed on public property, or disabled. I didn't log Needs archived cause I though it was more appropriate for a local to do that. I really was a disappointment to go after those caches and not be able to search, they need to disable or archive these caches to keep people from attempting to hunt them. Or at least find out if you can actually go in search of them.
  13. Since I'm a cacher I probably wouldn't get as ill if you came poking around my deer stand. However you would get you chops busted for trespassing Just kidding, it does ruin a hunters chances of shooting any game when you are in the area caching. Just think of it this way, say you go to a cache in the middle of nowhere, walk 2-3 miles, and get to the cache but can't look for it because their are a bunch of rowdy muggles there. Kinda the same way with hunters, they went to an effort to seek their reward and don't really appreciate it when you ruin their chances.
  14. I don't put a lot of detail in my logs. I just put found as described, mention anything unique, and leave it at that. I don't measure anything, so Found as described isn't 100% accurate, but if I found it, hey, anyone can. I use my GPS to get close, it also gives me a way to see them on the topo map. Once I find the general area, I use the descriptions. So far I've had good luck finding them. I'll trust the GPS to take me pretty close, but no cigar. I don't think I'll have any problems with spoilers, I'm the first and only log for most BM's I find. But to answer the question I don't think I'd mind the info too much, the whole point is to record finding them.
  15. I quoted Buckbrookes post to tell GEOKY what he was doing. I've noticed Kentucky sometimes gets left out, so I thought if any BM hunters knew of unique benchmarks, they might mention them. I don't think there are many BM hunters in KY. I am the only person logging BM's in my area, I don't know about other areas. I looked at a site by Holograph, (I think, it could have been another persons site) that had all the oldest, most time since last visit, and other key BM's for a state. All of them were out of the range I travel. But they were interesting. I like the idea of scenic benchmarks, I hope someone in KY will mention one who has actually been there and knows it has a great view or other interesting history.
  16. Go to the bank and get odd currency, like $2 bills, 50 cent and $1 doller coins.
  17. It must be a Ford Ranger, they put energizer batteries in at the factory, they keep going, and going, and going.....
  18. I am trying to start my own cluster, I have three counties to cover. My locals are great about coming, but the three of them can only visit so many times. Haven't had any logs from out of towners. Ironically, the micro I put beside a major road has the least action. I'm trying to get a good number of caches and try to draw people in from out of town. I think it's because I live in the middle of a giant Geocaching black hole. Good news, no competition for good hiding spots, Bad news, not many logs. And that's whats the most fun about placing them, is getting the logs.
  19. If your going into the woods in deer, turkey, or any season where hunters are shooting game at ground level WEAR ORANGE! I know of crazy hunters that shoot at any movement, they need to be able to see you. I'm a hunter, and I don't want to put it in a bad light, but it only takes one careless hunter to ruin your day. Stay out of the woods in the morning and evening, most hunters rest during midday. Also stick to trails, hunters like to get away from heavily traveled areas.
  20. My first cache is still my favorite, 30 caches later. It's Honker Hill, (sorry no link) But it was a 3/3 terrain /difficulty and it was great. I'll admit the urban micros disappointed me a little after that, but I like cache that take you to the woods and make you search for them.
  21. It means you need one of these to find the cache: I want to go!!!
  22. I wonder if he can make it through customs.
  23. Wear camo, paint your face black, and stick fresh leaves in your hat. Then crawl on your belly to the cache and under no circumstance let the muggles see you. Sign log, crawl back to car, and peel out. Don't forget to cover up your license plate. Just kidding, means there are usually a lot of people around that might mess with the cache if they see you find or replace it.
  24. I posted in GEOKY to see if anyone would like to submit unique benchmark's for Kentucky. I'm not worried about a state "Best" BM, I was just thinking about special benchmarks in general. It might be a cool idea, but determining the best would definitely vary by opinion.
  25. What cache is this, I'm in Kentucky and wear an XL. Put a TB tag on it and send to GCXXXX, I'll have to put out an ammo can first. Just kidding.
