  1. I guess it is up to the seekers to say when enough is enough, if it's a bad spot, say so in your logs, if future cachers agree, then you have a start. But until then Mapcreate, or Mapsource ain't going to tell you if the cache is next to the homeless camps or the shantytown.
  2. Sounds cool, I migh get into it later. I think my caches are somewhat lacking in swag, a WG dollar in there might draw someone out to visit it.
  3. Oh that new electronics smell.........
  4. Sounds like some jerk was trying to give you a scare. IMO that's not very good hunter etiquette. There is no doubt he saw you and knew you were there, but flinging an aluminum rod at the speed of death in your direction was uncalled for.
  5. I need to check on that cache in the near future, I believe I'll just leave it in there. The "Where's George hates geocaching" thread is huge, I skimmed some but definitely couldn't read all 6 pages. Tracking money that way is a novel idea, but just it's very existence alters it's own purpose. The first thought I had when I seen a WG dollar in my cache was to get it and spend it to see where it went, that is no more natural than it being in the cache.
  6. Okay, I hope I'm not opening a can of worms here but I want to know something. There is a Where's George dollar in one of my caches. I'm real curious about it, but should I leave it for the other cachers. I woulden't mind getting it myself, but I'm not to sure weather to put it into another cache, or spend it and see where it goes. Around where I live, people don't look at thier money, it could dissapear into someones wallet for months, much less get logged. I think it has better chances in a cache. I just want some info on Where's George and caching.
  7. There used to be a link here in the forums to a page that had all Geocachers ranked by finds. Does anyone know where that page is, I lost the link. Anyway it had CCCooperAgency at the top. and had everyones rank down to 200 cache finds.
  8. CCCompany, I'm not sure if I spelled it right, had over 11,000 finds. Hey, first post, welcome to the forums.
  9. How would you like it if I boycotted your caches. That's a mean spirited thing to do to newbies. We are supposed to encourage the newcomers by GOING to their caches, and if the caches need help, then we can make knowledgeable suggestions. If everyone boycotted my caches at first I would have thought you all were a bunch of jerks.
  10. Lock & Locks are GREAT. It's like a plastic ammo box. (You do have to camo them though.)
  11. Lock & Lock: ~$2.75 Note pads: ~$0.50 Swag: I'll have to get back with you on that one. Dollar store has good stuff, like notepads and pencils. I use left over food containers. Some people might give you troble about that but it has worked good so far. However I'm still working with pre-caching surplus, for swag and pencils and containers.
  12. Put effort into areas that need help, leave what's working alone.
  13. This thread must be powered by energizer....it keeps going, and going, and going..............................AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I wish a poll could be enabled, once and for all, who wants a test vs. who doesn't.
  14. Hey, there's room for everyone, plus you give me the idea. I wonder what the "others" think....in the meantime we ought to watch the orientation video. I'm open to ideas if anyone has any to make a good LOST cache.
  15. Don't put poison nuts in there, are you nuts!! Wish I could help, but I'm still looking for a sig item myself, Good Luck.
  16. Do you have Mapcreate, that is a beast of it's own, but worth it.
  17. How about one of those sardine can caches, you know, the ones with Louisiana hot sauce cracked open under the seat. Just Kidding
  18. That's a good point, just where do you draw the line. My stats: 31 Finds, 5 Hides, 10 Benchmarks (thought I'd throw them in for good measure.) Am I a newbie? I certainly don't FEEL like a newbie, even though I'm not "experienced." Where is the line here, I don't think there should be a line. If your new that's great, if you need help it's here. Your an Old Timer, that's great, help the newcomers when they need it. (But not before) I still think the volunteer quiz might be cool, but certainly not necessary. Everything is working fine as it is. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
  19. How was your signal under that concrete. EPE??? Must have had a good description.
  20. Yeah, I like the idea. I'd like to make a LOST themed puzzle cache. Mudda, if your working on one (or plan on it) let me know cause we are only about 20 miles from each other, I can put one in LBL (western Kentucky) if you want to make one yourself. That way they woulden't be too close. Now I have to think what kind of container, swag, puzzles.................
  21. Ha Ha, Leprechauns got cought talking dirty. You say it Gar min, you make the G sound not the J sound.
  22. I'm just going on a hunch here, but the numbers used as coords, Lat 4.815 Lon 162.342 aren't too far from the coords of the island in the book The Mysterious Island, by Jules Vern Lat S36 Lon W152 My mapping programs are not doing well on a global scale, but in the book they estimate thier accuracy to be off as much a S 35-37 and W 150 to 155. Would the coords from the "numbers" be inside the range of accuracy of the island in Jules Verne's book?
  23. Awsome, 4 8 15 16 23 42, I think I got it but I'm not sure. I wonder if anyone will do a cache with that theme, a puzzle cache. Given the reputation of the numbers. I can see it now, your caching partner get's bit by a snake, in winter. Your truck won't start. The cachers behind you have to log DNF, it goes on and on.....
  24. I walked across a levee to get my first cache, I think round trip may have been close to a mile. I once walked down a runway at midday (hot sun) to log 3 benchmarks. I think that totaled over a mile. I have a cache Idea where you would have to walk at least 2-3 miles to get it. (round trip)
