Very cool, Thanks!

I have noticed the same thing, except for that one person at any given event that gets on my nerves. If I don't spot the dork I start to worry it's me.

Oops! Glad to see it has been reported, I would have used that thread, but maybe this will draw a little attention to the matter. I think it has been that way on Waymarking a while, which I was not fond of since you cannot change your profile independently of Geocaching. Since they were saying it was under progress I thought I would wait and see if it was changed. I didn't expect it to go to full access though. Edit to add: I just checked Waymarking.com, and you now have to be logged in to view a profile there.

...when I no longer enjoy it. (Which I hope never happens.)

I noticed today when browsing the site while not logged on you can access profile pages. Used to you would need to be logged into the website before accessing someones profile info. I would rather have it behind a log in screen, so that people browsing Google or whatever cannot just look at what I have there at will. I know everything you post online is open to the world, but I see no harm in making it a little less convenient to access. My profile is like my cache coordinates, I would like someone to be logged in before they can see them. Non Geocachers have no business with that info. I am very happy with the recent site changes, but I would greatly appreciate the above mentioned feature reinstated.

Here is a good website for some HTML for your cache page. http://nozen.com/geo/html.htm

What came first, the cache or the GPSr?
Airmapper replied to Totem Clan's topic in General geocaching topics
I wanted a GPS when I was pretty young. I can't remember how old but I'm sure it was my early teens. Finally I got my AirMap 500 when I was about 16 or 17 for use with my flight training. I got one I knew I could use for pretty much everything, and I did use it for everything. I packed it around like people do cell phones before I even heard of Geocaching, and still do. I found caching browsing a Kayaking website, someone mentioned it in a product review for a GPS and I got curious. I had seen the word used only once before on my 2nd GPS, a Garmin with the "Geocache" symbol. -
Very cool additions, Thanks Groundspeak crew!

Make new friends, preferably Geocachers.

I encrypt all my posts with ROT13 twice for good measure.

icefall5 was personally attacked several times and handled it quite well, demonstrating a maturity level well beyond many who posted on this thread. Please...cite examples of these alleged attacks. Try reading icefall's posts, they address and respond to many of them.

Way to go icefall. Great responses, especially considering the amount of flack you had to take in.

Lucky you. I popped out $3.30 at the CHEAP place for a tank that cost me $73.00 I'm pretty sure the OP didn't want to argue about prices, though. I'll bet the OP could pony up $6 or $9 and buy a money order and send THAT in without having to get permission from his parents and try out the PM privileges... Probably pick off a good number of PMO caches in that amount of time, too, if that is what he really wanted to do. Since he has been caching a while, it could be time to try out the big league. In order to use a Money order you must buy a years membership at $30. That is how I pay for mine.

You asked me what I think... I think that you have a problem. Your problem is quite commonplace nowadays, even among many adults in our modern society. The problem consists of an attitude called "entitlement", wherein you want everything -- such as all of the listing, tracking and logging services of the geocaching.com listing service, and even all of the benefits reserved for those members who pay to support the site -- for free. In closing, I am curious: since you have established that you DO want ALL of the services and benefits of the geocaching.com service to be free of charge for all, whom do you expect to pay for all the costs (employees, programmers, hosting servers, custom programming, web access, bandwidth, etc.) of running the service and the site? Are you planning on making a lifetime 25 million dollar bequeathment today to geocaching.com to support all this work? If so, thanks much! Lastly, I HATE it when people moan that things are unfair! No one ever promised you that life would be fair, and rather, you made an erroneous assumption at the starting point of this game. Rather than doing the moaning and complaining in which you are currently engaging, you would have a lot more fun in life and get a lot further in life if you would let go of that silly nonsense and instead go to your heart and feel and express gratitude and appreciation for all the wonders around you, including the geocaching.com listing service and PM caches. Vinny, while I realize you often go to an extreme in jest, I don't think the icefall will see that, and I'm not seeing that in this post. I bolded a portion of your post, and would like to see what evidence you use to come to the conclusion that icefall One, has "an attitude called "entitlement"" And Two, "want ALL of the services and benefits of the geocaching.com service to be free of charge for all". I did not see him state that in your quoted post.

You'll want MapCreate, which can be purchased in several places and will probably cost around $100, +/- depending on the type of package.

I used to use this but one day it just quit working. May have to attempt to re-configure it, I liked having an idea who was looking, even if not always accurate. One thing, Statcounter gives you a tracking cookie that the malware scanners don't like.

How do you cache? What "method" is the most fun for you?
Airmapper replied to Miragee's topic in General geocaching topics
Like Miragee at first I would go for anything I came close to. I still load all the cache info I can get to the GPS, but I generally pick out areas I would prefer to go and for the most part ignore LPC's, and other urban micros. I like caches with a hike, or in a cool place with scenic or historical interest. Today I got a reminder as to why I quit searching for lame micros. I went to Mickey-D's for lunch and it had a cache in the parking lot. I went to look, searched for several minutes, and logged a DNF. I knew it was probably on this big electrical box in front of the drive through window (I looked at the logs when I got home, it was.) so I just walked off and said "It's not worth it." -
How many geocachers does it take to change a lightbulb?

GSAK to PDA - how do I increase # of logs?
Airmapper replied to Karen_in_Coronado's topic in General geocaching topics
For GSAK, set up a weekly PQ and regularly upload it to your database, updating the caches with the new logs. When the new logs are merged in, GSAK will show more than 5 as they accumulate. -

Placing an image into your listing?
Airmapper replied to ForestnFrances's topic in General geocaching topics
Type this: [img=http://www.imageURL.com] In the middle part put the address of the image where it can be found online. Geocaching.com allows you to upload images to your account, and there are sites like imageshack and photobucket as well for hosting images. -
Does that stick the extra waypoint into the GPS? I've not seen this in action yet. Yes, they come in with your PQ. GSAK recgonizes them and you can set it to send them to the GPS with the caches. You can customize the icon as well, mine is a car.

I think Parking coords are best if there may be an issue with trasspassing by accident from coming in the wrong direction, or in a situation where it will make getting to the cache safer than by finding yourself a spot. In addition to that, use the "add waypoint" feature instead of only putting it in the description. Many like myself don't always read the cache pages, but do have additional waypoints loaded into the GPS. Personally, the game to me is not trying to find parking, it's trying to find a cache, the less trouble it is for me to find a place to park the truck, the more relaxed I will be. Any info from the cache owner to make the transition from truck to on foot easier is appriciated.
