  1. if i put one in mine i usually mark it well so there is no mistake, and i give unactivated travel bugs. i keep just the bug # so i can watch where my ftf goes. Tim
  2. yes it can be under a bridge, it can have just a book and pen or 100.00 bills, (if you put these in e-mail me with the coords first and i'll check the placement) your choice, mark the container very well with "geocaching.com" so if found accidently it won't be confused with a bomb, and some of the questions lead me to believe that you are very new to geocaching, so maybe do a few first to see what other people stock there's with. good luck, i hope you live near me, and have fun. Tim P.S. i looked you up and you are new (2 caches yesterday) good job. i would wait till you find about 50 till you hide. I didn't and the first few were train wrecks. not telling you what to do , but i've been there. Welcome.
  3. biggest one i know of, and i have the coords. 16 ft tall 19 feet wide, 70 feet long, weighs 35 tons. http://www.thule.org/snowcruiser.html Tim
  4. same here. to bad tho, stick could be set up like a blog. Tim
  5. congrats on your first find, and welcome to the club. just a heads up tho, your scaring the hell out of the bug owner. if you decide the sport is not for you please at least place the bug back into circulation, now with that said. the bug you have can go any where you want, does it have a specific mission? if so see what you can do to help it, if you can, if not enjoy having it for a brief time and drop it in and cache you find that will fit it.if the mission asks to do haunted caches, perfect, if the haunted cache is the next one you have your eye on and think it would be cool there, also perfect.enjoy the sport and prepare for a lifetime of torture. and why not give out bug ##s ever? well if i live in mass. and get your bug ##s from indiana and start bug dropping your number here it screws up your millage fo one, there are many other reasons. so please use the reference ## s instead. My .02, Tim
  6. i hunt them down, i place some of my caches where i would recognise the stickers on the cars, and when i drive by if there is a car parked there i turn around and go back to see if there is a sticker on the window, then the fun begins, i walk down to the cache and hunt them down, and say " HEY, What are you doin' here.?" the looks and answers are hillarious. met about a dozen at my caches doing something simmular to this. always a good conversation starter. Welcome to my hell, Tim
  7. a bug drop is a virtual drop. if say i have a personal travel bug that i carry with me and have no intension on leaving somewhere, like a memorial, i would do a tb drop and place the bug on the cache page but not into the cache, then i would grab it out of that cache later it allows the TB to gain milage. i have one that i use in this manner but i only drop it in caches that i have found not ones that i havent been to or are lost. i hope that this was not to confusing. you may see tb drops on a micro, again it is only to log milage. Tim
  8. i'm thinking the same thing about the coins on ebay but i'm gonna get mine blank and make my own(rubber stamps), sand off the advert. chock it up to experience and welcome to the sport. Tim
  9. i wear mine around my neck while caching, lets other cachers who are incognito know i cache as well. Tim
  10. Insomnia to many mcdyver and team spoonhead puzzle caches. Tim
  11. you can try indoor flea markets for ammo cans, i'd spend no more than 5.00 for one, my last two were free. also ebay, remember shipping and the 5.00 or less still applys. wal-mart has containers they are called "lock&lock, i got some for christmas, and the cachers around here have started to use them, $3.00 ea. and there is a good rubber seal to prevent leaks. Tim
  12. here's one i have. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...23-5009d97df1f8 starting location was hard for this lake. the first finder signed the log while standing in the lake the second guy draged it to the beach and shared the stuff in the can with people on the beach, read the logs, i'm thinking the can is gone. Tim
  13. fire fighter and propane guy here, yes, propane tanks can be scary with the thought of cutting torches, but i cut one in half useing a torch and saws-all, put hindges on the back side and put it on it's side and use it as a BBQ grill. the tank sat outside for two years, open to the atmosphere, then filled with water and cut. P.S. don't try this at home. Tim
  14. here is one that i picked up one day and made the recipe using the spoons (after a trip thru the dish washer of course) can you think of any other TB's with a recipe attached? Tim TB# TB87A7
  15. basic rule of thumb, when you read the description, a terrain of one is usually handicap accesable, some of the posters add the handicap symbol to let you know this is a good family cache for you. here is a cache i have, fully accessable , ramps, elevators, first two stages are within 400ft of the library and 100% accesable to wheel chairs. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...0d-f6bb93a200ba welcome and enjoy the sport. srt4guy
  16. go to army surplus store and get a tactical vest, one pocket for each item, all at your finger tips. Tim
  17. what an idea. i have one of those kicking around, hummmmmm.
  18. ? I don`t see the problem with that one. He seems to have found the cache. The cacher didn`t have his trading stuff with him, so he didn`t trade... Or was it one of those mandatory trading caches? i re-read the log and other posts i may have misread / misunderstood the post. it is poss. my applogies if this is what happened. Tim
  19. i dont know how to post a link but if you go to zip 01430. i have a coin swap cache there. if i find quarters and such i save them up and use the cash to buy good trinkets as trade items. tim
  20. try this one on for size: I came empty handed so I did not trade any TB's however, I did collect my smilie. My second srt4guy cache today! Now off to the next....TFTC. the nerve? Tim
  21. i got you all beat, it weighs 35 tons is 75 feet log 19 feet wide and 12-16 feet high. it's called a "snowcruiser". type it in google and you will find a postal cover with the gps coords for it's location, missing since 1958, if you do the research, this item is my favorite subject, (i'm such a geek)coords are, lat:78 deg 30's X long 163deg 30 W Good luck, if you find it let me know. Tim
  22. i asked the same question a month ago and got one reply. it was to e-mail the cache owner. no one else would ruin the experience.try that and see what happens. Tim
  23. was thinking about putting a magnetic cache sticker on my car and keeping a log book and trinkets(regular cache stuff) in the car and when you saw me or the car at a cache or event you could sign the log trade items or what ever. would it work ? would the guy who approves it say no? what do you think? Tim
  24. ammo cans are the way to go if they suit your needs. i've got one 6' under a lake and had no problems, other than the water now being to cold for anyone to swim to get the cache. Tim
