  1. Or some way to dl caches, without having to go through page by page and create seperate files for each page that has a few caches you want to Download. I like to keep all the caches in my state updated on my Streets and Trips program, so that I can easily visualize where caches are located. Also, to be able to weed out types of caches, for instance I have no interest in locationless caches, so I would like to be able to weed those out. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  2. I personally don't see the aversion to commericalism. Hello! Commercialism is WHY we are such an affluent country, and except for public employees who live off the productivity of the rest of the nation, big business and small business alike is the ONLY reason you can afford that GPSr and internet connection. We have locationless caches, we have virtual caches, I wouldn't mind at all a cache that leads me to a shop, in which I can do a trade of items, sign the log book, and maybe discover a neat little shop I never knew about, all at the same time. And as long as I know what I am in for, I can choose to go, or not, same as with any other kind of cache. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  3. Your feet do toughen up after a while. But then something else happens....ever have a callous split wide open? Ouch! Calloused feet are not comfortable feet....I still have a problem with my heels splitting from time to time. I prefer to wear shoes now. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  4. I could part with 10 bucks to help him replace his GPSr. Those things aren't cheap, and it'd be a bummer to have a mishap keep him out of the game. Someone start a paypal account, and I'll send it on in. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  5. This is on our "To do" list, but we have to have a time when we have a sitter for the kids...and it's a must that my wife come along, as I need her for the math. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.

  7. I found this excellent source for cable connections for various things, for hooking your cell directly to your laptop or handheld, hooking your Garmin to you handheld or laptop, what ever. The prices are reasonable, and the cables are designed in such a way that you can mix and match. I just got a cable to hook my Sony Clie PEG NR70 to my Garmin Legend, it works great, and the price was good as well. Check it out. http://pc-mobile.net ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  8. I found an excellent source for cords for garmin to X brand handheld or computer. check it out. Prices are reasonable, and they are set up so you can mix and match. http://pc-mobile.net I just got a cable for hooking up my Garmin Legend and my new Clie NR70, it works great! ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.

  10. King Tut's Tomb requires climbing, and I am afraid of heights. But I managed to muster up the guts to get up there...after all, I'd gone that far to get it, and I really wanted to get it....so I did it. If the rules said you must sign the log book...well you must sign the log book. That's the way I look at it. But then again, I'm one of those nuts who sees everything in black and white, with very little grey areas. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  11. I have a Camelbak M.U.L.E., inside I keep my "puts" a wide assortment usually. I also have a compass on it, my digital camera, a few extra bags for trash I may find, my Sony CLie' which has cache' descriptions and hints as well as maps loaded into it, and my Garmin Legend. I also take a flashlight if I'm going far off the beaten path, my cell phone, and FRS radio's. I also take my collapsable walking staff which has a built in camera mount under the handle. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  12. I got the Roads & Recreation CD, but to be quite honest, I hardly ever actually use it. The maps are a bit off in areas, out of date in areas, and so forth. I do most of my planning with other mapping software, then once I get close, I use the GPS to get me on to the cache once I'm on foot. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  13. Except my first two caches, I have always taken along my digital camera, and now that I have a walking staff with a built in camera mount under the handle, I can easily take a photo of myself if I am alone as well. I feel it is important to give back as much as possible to the cache placer, and taking the time to convert the pictures and load them up to the cache page makes a cache more interesting over all. I know I love it when someone uploads a pic along with their find to my cache pages. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  14. niskibum, I couldn't resist commenting on your little tag line beneath the pictures of skis....how could you miss the snow? We just had a bunch a couple days ago in the hills. Fresh powder in most of the Northwest Mountain ranges. So far as the question about miners Vs farmers, if the miners can do thier mining without impacting ANYTHING beyond their land, more power to them. However, if they can't, then the farmers have a point, and more power to the farmers. I'm a strong advocate of private property rights. If my neighbor painted his house all checkered and stored a few cars in his front yard, even though I would have the right to complain, as it is against the covenants and restrictions for our neighborhood, I wouldn't, because frankly I feel as long as it doesn't impact my property in a tangeble fashion, that is, his garbage isn't drawing in rats, raccoons, and mosquitoes' which cross over to my side of the line, I believe he should have the right to do what he pleases. He can play his music as loud as he wants on his property, so long as I can't hear it on mine, heck he could build a nuclear reactor on his property, so long as it is guaranteed not to have any affect on the livability of my property. In short, if it's on your land, and it stays on your land, and there aren't existing laws against it, you should have the right to do it. So far as business developements having an impact on taxpayers, yep they do. POSITIVE IMPACTS, they bring in MORE tax dollars, as anything that creates revenue funnels money into the public purse as well. Even if the business itself isn't taxed one red cent, the employee's most certainly will be, and in states with sales tax, the products or services sold will generate tax income, and many cities have payroll taxes. By the way, you do know, everyone, that the gross pay on your paycheck isn't the sum total of expense your employer incurrs by hiring you don't you? Employers must match your fica, your unemployment insurance, there are often payroll taxes to be payed. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.

  16. I'm all for folks buying up private land and turning it into a wildlife refuge or putting protections on thier private property that prevent it from being developed. No problemo. In fact I think groups like the Sierra Club, Earth First, and the like should focus on fundraisers to raise large chunks of cash to buy up large chunks of land they want protected, and protect it. But when you start telling someone who bought some land for developement, that now they can no longer develope the land, that is a problem. When you change the rules on someone and effectively steal thier land through regulation, that is a problem. You want to protect an area? Pony up the cash to pay for the area and have it protected, but don't expect someone else to sacrifice thier investment to satisfy your concience. You want a beautiful and unobstructed view? Buy up all the land around you, but don't go complaining when your neigbor decideds to build a home or chop down a few trees. So far as the government keeping that which is government property and wild, wild, fine. But when the government imposes huge land grabs that's wrong. If you buy property that is zone Exclusive Farm use, you have no right to complain that you can't build a mini-mall on it. But if you buy up a bunch of land that is zoned commercial/industrial, and then once you get ready to build a mini-mall some activists come along and get the land re-zoned to exclusive farm use, then you have just been robbed by the government, and that is wrong. And it happens all to often. If the activists or whoever didn't want a mini-mall there, they should have bought it themselves and made it a wild life sancturary or a farm or whatever they felt was more appropriate, but to essentially steal anothers investment through regulation is wrong and repugnant, and happens all to often in this nation. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  17. Heck they could easily track me down. I even have a phone number for contact in case of an emergency as well as my email address, and the geocaching website address. I'm not doing this to purposely break any laws, or cause any panic, so if the authorities do have a problem with one of my caches, I want them to be able to contact me and allow me to resolve it, before they end up blowing it up. Of course I do think it was a poor idea to place a cache near a railroad tunnel entrance, especially considering the times. But still, the judge went way way way way way overboard. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.

  19. ahh but to be able to have all my geocache locations on my Palm, with maps, and ability to get the directions from my house to the geocaches would be great. I do all this right now using M.S. Streets and Trips, but I would like to be able to get rid of the laptop on the trips and just take along my clie'. Mapopolis is a good mapping program, but you can't put a bunch of waypoints in. It seems they all are limited in some way. An all in one ap would be great. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  20. What would you recomend to use with my Sony Clie'? I'm looking for something that can do routes and waypoint management, detailed maps, ect. Would need to be able to interface with my GPSr as well. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.

  22. I have every Geocache within 100 miles of my home on my Microsoft Streets and Trips program, so if I am going somewhere, I just make a route, and then I can easily see what caches are on, or near, the route. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  23. I think you mean www.letterboxing.org ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  24. I do the first maintainence check after two to three weeks of placing the cache...refresh the cache clear out any junk. I then plan on doing checkups every six weeks or so. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
  25. I would like to hear a review of Fugawi from anyone that uses it, I would especially like to hear a review of it's palm ap from anyone that uses that. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it.
