  1. We have to Say New York.... As for East an West New Jersey very interesting.
  2. Good for you. I wasn't looking to be that specific.
  3. Agreed, So when are you going to create a "Central NJ Geo Gang" ?
  4. I have run into a few of them...was just looking to see if there was a more formal association out there. I want to thank all for your input. Bob
  5. I distinctly saw two clubs. There is a nothern one. anyway, I guess I qualify for the Southern Club (wouldn't want to join the north one anyway). So, I guess I should just look for meetings or get togethers then?
  6. OK, there is a north Jersey club and a South Jersey Club...anything for central NJ cachers out there ? If not, where is the North South dividing line ? I'm in WoodBridge Thanks, Bob
  7. I'm having a hard time finding GPX2maplet software..can anyone tell me where it can be downloaded ? I need it to import gpx files to Mapopolis Thanks in advance, Bob
  8. quote:Originally posted by Team JBSS:Geo, I'm liking this program..I have one question Would it be posible to have a link or option to associate a jpg (topo map) specific to a cache on the list ? Right now I use expertgps to download my topo maps . Then export them, drop and drag to a folder on the PPC. The only way I can find them later on(which isn't the end of the world)is to rename them the same name as the cache. I hope you understand my question.... Thanks, Bob [This message was edited by Team JBSS on September 30, 2003 at 10:01 AM.]
  9. Geo, I'm liking this program..I have one question Would it be posible to have a link or option to associate a jpg (topo map) specific to a cache on the list ? Right now I use GPSview to download my topo maps . Then export them, drop and drag to a folder on the PPC. The only way I can find them later on(which isn't the end of the world)is to rename them the same name as the cache. I hope you undersatnd my qeustions.... Thanks, Bob
  10. I use GPSsonar, GPSview, and have just installed Mapopolis (great program) I'm still familiarizing myself with Mapopolis. As far as connecting between the PPC ipaq 3955 and the GSPmap76 I went to www.bluehillsinnovations.com for the cord I needed. You can power both the GSPR and the PPC while communicating between the two with or without extermnal power. I like things simple, neat...yet complete. Not a million cords runnning all over the place. The only thing I wish I had at this point was a way to link my topo maps to GPSsonar cache list. Bob
  11. Thanks to all you guys for the info..I'm going to download tonight. Well, right now as a matter-of-fact.... Thanks again..I'll let you know how I made out. Bob
  12. Airlid, Go to set center coordinates ...tap and hold on an individual cache. Then in "list options" you find "set center coordinates" plug in your home coordinates or where ever you might be. To Geoman question: The title bar (eg. TB, Note, Name...)resets after I close the program. Is there a way to save my setings so I don't have to readjust the title bar every time I open GPXsonar ? BOB quote:Originally posted by Airlid:I installed the Ap on my iPAQ5555. The program looks great and I love the Cache pages (just like Geocaching.com). One small problem the distance column shows the caches 7000+ miles away. Is there a config setting for this? Thanks Airlid "Exploring is never having to say you are lost"!
  13. Thanks I was al ittle leery about the downloads when reading the M&P's on the process and couldn't find a specific answer to my questions in the FAQ's. You cleared that up for me...thanks. I think I'll make this purchase. Mapopolis is exactly what I was looking for so I didn't have to lug around my laptop. Now to find the cords I'l need and which expansion pack for my ipaq 3955. Thanks again, Bob
  14. I noticed the maps are dowloaded from the mapopolis web site as needed for the first year for free (incl.with purchase). Can these maps be saved on your desktop for future and or reuse and loaded onto your PPC at a later date ? I know if I wanted an updated release of a map there would be a purchase of the newer map required. Bob
  15. Is anyone running Mapopolis on their PPC 2003 ?
  16. As you do, I keep it in my backpack while hiking...my reasons are for driving directions only....I upload all GPSR data to the desktop into Mapsource and/or ExpertGPX. Thanks for your suggestions ..I'll look at them... Another feature I was hoping to find woyld be autorouting and voice prompts built into the mapping software. Thanks ......Bob
  17. I'm looking for opinions from those of you that use your PPC connected to your GPSR and track your movments as you would if you were using mapsource and a laptop with the GPSR connected to it. My Goal is to connect my GPSmap76 or Vista to my ipaq 3955. I don't know which mapping software to use that offers me the most features. I don't want to purchase the bluetooth GPS mapping package. Thanks...Bob
  18. So, far I Really like it....especially the fact that I can add notes to the cache details. Bob
  19. I agree with "Jolly B. Good" I like Mapsource "Metroguide"(only option recomended by Garmin for GPSmap76). As far as topomaps go...I don't like Garmin Topo maps (lacks the detail). I have yet to find any other topo software I can load directly load into our Etrex Vista (nor have I been actively looking either). I use ExpertGPS for topo maps then load them into my iPAQ fo viewing. Bob
  20. We just load the ones we're searching for that day. Way too many to keep track of, or, have to search through. Besides, that's what "Geocaching.com" is all about. The total number available can change day to day in a cache rich enviroment. Bob
  21. In ExpertGPS you can delete and add waypoints as you want. I haven't tried saving the file yet but, I would think it would save in a ".GPX" format. No ? I'll have to give it a try. It didn't even dawn on me to weed out the ones I didn't want after receiving the results from the pocket query. I certainly won't be able to do all of them while in Hawaii. Bob
  22. Ok...I want to share this.... I found a way to load topo maps to my iPAQ 3955...easy as ExpertGPS. After locating a map that you want to use just pull down the "Map" menu and then select "export Image". this will save in a Jpeg format. then just drop and drag to a folder on your ipaq and your ready to go....the iPAQ then views the map in windows viewer. However, ExpertGPS does let you zoom in and out. so, look for your quality preference. It also alows you to change the size of the exported file. You'll have to play with this. I can open a 1meg jpg. file, but not a 2meg file without a memory upgrade. Not a problem though...just save separate map leg files and change the file your viewing as you go along. I hope this helps others...I don't know if the shareware version of ExpertGPS will allow you to export files. I may be worth the purchase. I already made the purchase sometime ago... Bob
