  1. Good idea . . . I'll try that, too. Thanks. Slewfoot here... (I play bass on the CD) I am assuming that you are refferring to the bonus tracks on the cd. I'll have to check my other pc to grab to track names and the order, but I seem to remember playing Folsum Prison Blues, Whiskey Before Breakfast, and I think the instrumental was red haired boy. I'm not 100% sure on that, but when I get back to the house, I'll double check and get back to you. Hope you enjoyed the CD! Slewfoot Here ya go.... 1. Not The Kind to Cache 2. The Bug Came Back 3. 3. You definitely want the second one. The difference is the way the suction cup works. The first is just a plain suction cup... will work, but isn't going to hold quite as well as the second. The second one has a suction locking mechanism that pulls the suction cup tight against the window... It's similar to the way the old crank pencil sharpeners with the suction base work. I have one of the second units as well and it has never come loose. It is rock solid and always has been. Slewfoot
  4. Vandergirl, I'm pretty sure your brother is referring to This Thread. I own a GPSMAP 60CSx as well and can tell you that the method works very well. I haven't devoted the time I really need to to get things "Just Right", but I have had quite a bit of success. Enjoy! Slewfoot
  5. I've used both Garmin and Magellan. Some of my first Geocaching adventures were done with a Meridian Gold. The Meridian seemed to perform very well... at least compared to my cell phone GPS that I had also been caching with. I found my caches no problem at all... The problems I did have with it were linking the thing up to the computer. Sometimes it worked... most of the time it did not. I had to transfer waypoints and maps directly to the SD card to get them into the unit. Streaming NMEA data seemed to work fine, but connecting to load or unload data was just plain out. The other issue I had was with thick tree cover... The thing just didn't cut it as was the case with almost every other GPS on the market. After some research on the features I wanted, I purchased a Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx. I was mainly looking for a more sensitive GPS unit that could handle the heavy tree cover and would be a reliable unit. I have to say that I love my new Garmin and wouldn't go back to Magellan. Aside from a few minor quirks in the unit, it perfoms exceptionally well. It has all the features I wanted... USB connection, Expandable memory, external antenna connection, feels comfortable, easy to read, fast lock and exceptional reciever sensitivity! The SiRF III Chipset is just beyond compare... I can maintain a lock on 6 satellites in my upstairs bathroom... mind you, there are no windows in there. BTW... 12 channels vs 14 channels does not necessarily mean better reception... it just means that if 14 satellites are in view of the antenna, the unit can get a little better accuracy... a 14 channel reciever does not even compare to the high-sensitivity SiRF III chipset. They are not even in the same league. Slewfoot
  6. *IDEA* Some GPS programs allow you to click on a waypoint icon and will connect to "The Internet" and access geocaching.com to bring up the webpage for the waypoint... MS Streets and Trips, and GPS Tuner are a couple examples. A great feature to add would be to add a proxy server to your software to allow the click throughs to work. Sonar generates a web page using GPX data... why couldn't it act as a proxy server... serving up the pages just like geocaching.com does? A little proxy configuration and clicking on web links from streets and trips or GPS Tuner could bring up the web page, already formatted for the pocket PC. Seamless integration! I can BETA test as well. Pocket PC 2003 HP iPAQ 5450 CF-Card Expansion Pack Holux GM-270 GPS Ultra Thanks, Slewfoot (Team GRTG)
  7. We're from Allendale, MI. I usually take my 3 year old and my girlfriend with me to do caches. We're rank beginners, but absolutely love it. Look for The Puzzled Geek if your in the area... Good for some fun frustration. Slewfoot
